I’m genuinely amazed by Gog-Agog as a character. She’s definitely one of my favorite characters. Sur knows how to make an entrance… and an offer.
The more I learn about Spiral Dynamics Theory, the more sense Meti starts to make.
I confess to some curiosity as to why everyone was initially so certain Zaid was the Chosen Heir, and Alison was somehow a mistake, or temporary caretaker for Zoss’ power. Gog referred to it in this scene. Given several demiurges are/were apparently female, this seems unlikely to be simple misogyny. Did Zoss choose a male Heir in every previous iteration of the cycle? Gog should know- she remembers everything except the earliest cycles.
It’s admittedly a pretty complex subject, but I wouldn’t count out sexism as a factor just yet, much less merely because some of the major players happen to be female since that doesn’t stop some people irl either. Keep in mind that of the three female Demiurges, one was a vain empress who made other women into her servants, called Allison a “whore” at least twice and overall struggled with internalized sexism from her womanizing husband; another is a metaphysical vegetable tormented by abuse from her misogynistic father, the source of a prophecy that explicitly claims the Successor to be a “he”, and overall presumably uncapable of changing anyone’s mind about gender roles and the like; and the third doesn’t exactly get a lot of respect from the rest of them anyway. And among the male ones we have Solomon David, who for complex reasons refused to have any daughters, and by extension any women in the government at all, and forces Allison and Cio to put on traditional-looking dresses before seeing his match with White Chain.
Not to mention that all of them were still enabling the state of Throne itself and its Guilds, which are so oppressive that K6BD 2-32 has two minor characters see Allison and immediately assume she’s White Chain’s sex slave (keep in mind White Chain hadn’t come out as a woman yet), just to name one incident. Or that Juggernaut Star and Michael were just as convinced that Zaid was the true heir, and they were much more explicitly gender-essentialist both about it and just in general.
But yes, that’s presumably not the only factor. As mentioned before, the prophecy itself insists on calling the Successor a “he”, and not only does Breaker of Infinities 2-46 seem to show that several if not all of Zoss’ previous chosen ones were male humans, Wheel-Smashing Lord 5-77 directly alluded to Allison’s equivalents being minor characters who are quickly fridged to motivate them.

Pretty sure I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. You should merch the oversize lightweight Bad Man coat and balloon Evil pants. Do the kickstarter and I’ll jump in with both feet.
This was the first page of K6BD that I’ve seen but didn’t know that it was from this comic before I started binging it. Thought it was a JoJo fan thing and was surprised to see it.
The characters are so cool and well drawn, very nice
