WHEEL SMASHING LORD 2-39
Chapter: 2
“The only measure of a true bond – the test of the blade. You dance nave to nave, with your hearts exposed, a dagger pressed and pointed at each one. Every movement must be gentle and precise, in time with your partner. Otherwise, you both will be impaled.”
-Yemeen, Disciple of Pravi
I realized it as soon as she was cut down, but it still hurts to have it confirmed.
Rest in peace, Ciocie. Glory to the new flesh.
Through this entire exchange, not once do we see Alison’s eye. It’s closed in panel 2, undrawn in panel 5. Any tears that exist were hidden from us. We might never know, until the day Cio truly returns – if she ever does – how deep Alison’s pain was.
Cio will, though, for she saw her face. And she’ll never forget it, for as long as she exists – and possibly beyond.
Oh come on Alison. Don’t make her choice for her.
I don’t know if this is the right decision but I’ll be damned if I don’t understand it.
I think I understand Alison here, Cio was always un conflict with her past self and she doesn’t know anything about the husband of her past self; so Alison just want to make new Self of Cio be happy away as a new person, without being attached to past relationships nor old enemies
So she traumatizes the newly formed creature, sends it out into a world it knows nothing about which is full of creatures that take advantage of the naive (as she’s experienced firsthand), all while knowing that the newly formed creature might be drawn to previous memories and that it has memories of an abusive husband heavily involved in the slave trade. Truly the wisdom of Royalty.
Decisions made immediately upon waking up, while hungover, are rarely strategically sound.
My emotions hurt.
Thus is observed a continuous cutting loved ones out of your life motion.
A question for the student: Is the end result worth it? This will determine 100% of your grade.
Don’t feel bad “Might-not-be-Cio-but-probably-is.” I’d be terrified of her too.

Remember, going outta her way to re-capture her relationship with Cio would put her in direct parallel with Cio’s old creeptastic husband-thing (from way back in the first book). Its not an especially good character to follow in the footsteps of. Not to mention potential ethical issues with “raising” your former lover-turned-like-2?-year-old-starter-devil. Hell, her shoo-ing them away leaves room for the welp to self-actualize and potentially become back into Cio, whereas… theres NO way in hell the narrative would just give Allison Praman Nand’s role but have it work out and be good and happy otherwise, I’ve had my complaints with the writing but its nowhere near THAT bad. That way would be the way of “oh this protagonist is supposed yo be evil, actually” territory. Could work but it’d suck for the people who’d most clamor for their relationship to return to regular, lol.
I feel like Allie could’ve chosen a better rhetorical tactic to get this new nameless person-inhabiting-the-ontological-space-her-girlfriend-died-in outta her life but. Since when was Allison an especially adequate social-doer.
Direct parallel? You mean like the tonal architecture of The Tools Of Liberation Are The Same As Those of Oppression?
Yessssss… we can administrate the world.
I respectfully disagree with the idea that Allison is pushing Cio2 away as a wise and noble act to protect them. Yes, I understand the logic of that, but this is Allison who is spottily wise, rarely logical and not conventionally noble. Plus she’s just woken, is short of sleep and has a killer hangover; not ideal for quickly grasping the logical path forward. I think Allison is reacting purely emotively and making a few mistakes.
Cio2 made a questioning noise and Allison mistook that as “who are you?”, which is a devastating slap in the face from her lover, but it was actually “who am I?”. Allison is shocked an angry.
Allison mistakenly thinks that Cio2 can’t be Cio because Cio2 is not currently Cio, but devils remember their past given time. Cio remembered Yab and Princess remembered Valdok, given time. Allison doesn’t understand devils because she and Cio didn’t talk enough.
Allison thinks Cio2 has stolen her last chance of getting Cio back by absorbing Cio’s shard, and she’s angry about that. But this is actually the first step on the return.
I think Allison slightly blames Cio for her own death, and for Allison’s torment in Jadis temple, and for Allison’s on-going emotional turmoil. None of that is logical or fair but Allison is still human and flawed and hurting a lot.
Finally, I think Allison was always ambiguous about her affair with Cio, even after mithering about it for a year (unlike Cio who was horns-over-heels in love but didn’t realise it until too late). She may not be committed enough to nurse Cio2 into personhood while getting nothing much in return.
So this is a list of errors, adding up to Allison accidentally doing the logical best thing. Which is very much Allison’s superpower.
I will tell you the truth, for you will believe none of it. That’s my mother you are talking about! Her one mode of foolishness – even given ANY form she could Wish for! – was always Coveting.
As for the lover of her most Wishful form of all? You are so, so very close, yet so far, from understanding that which you mistakenly accuse of being “accidental”. Brave of you to attempt it, but oh well. Perhaps 43 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration will make it far enough to elucidate this dreadful notion: Deliberately Positioning Oneself In The Way of Doom. And what will occupy your 44th self is, what of the plural form of that notion?
I am mortally struck with the sad
This was truly painful
I miss Cio too
We don’t actually know if Allison just gave this newbie the shard, or if the shard migrated into the newbie on its own. Or maybe the newbie saw the pretty sparkly thing and took it, but I doubt that interpretation most of all.
My last month’s paycheck was 11000 dollars. All I did was simple 0nline work from comfort at home for 6-8 hours/day that I got from this agency I discovered over the internet and they paid me 45 dollars every hour.

It just occurred to me that she’s just driven Neo Cio into Oscar’s clutches. He’s going to shape her into what he wanted after all.
so their alive… what joy…
I’m imagining that demon fella making dog-like whimpers as it runs off.
I was momentarily sad but then I remember… this is a comic where White Chain punched a demiurge so hard she gained flesh and form.
…How much determination do you think it’ll take for a devil come back exactly as they once were?
When Al-Yisun takes the Throne of God, perhaps then even death will bend to her will.
Is that ghost leg in the 3rd panel intentional?
Abaddon shows it somewhat often. It looks like the light is hitting it just right to show the impression. This is the Sun in HEAVEN, after all.
I’ve been away some amount of time.
The thing eating my brain stole the memory of this place for awhile.
I’ve been yelling at the internet.
It’s good to find a place to find threads of cadence to change the tone of the voices in my head.
I’ll try to not let my fingers do the talking for a bit.
I need to concentrate on fighting the scaly boogins for awhile.
Sorry to bother you, I don’t have any place to go other than where I am.
