Probably what Janet said in The Good Place. The universe is just a big food processor, and what is actually valuable is our relationships with each other. That’s the one and only thing that actually has meaning.
“Mine is the path of mutilation” goes hard, but our dear protagonist should find room for her happiness in the decades she has left. After all, she declared she would, even in Hell. Maybe not here, but that Ivory Devil we know might be worth saving a place for.
There’s no need to reject her outright, at the very least.
Have you considered that maybe what she is doing right now is bringing her happiness? Clearly she’s not interested in Cio anymore, so why linger on a dead relationship?
She is clearly still in love with Cio. Alice feels guilty of Cio’s death and is trying to keep her away because she does not want to hurt her. It’s not that complicated.
Love is a complicated and multifarious emotion. Al Yisun does seem to feel tremendous guilt, here. But it seems possible that she feels guilt about this in no small part because she knew this could happen when she left the little house.
Well, certainly, not that exactly this could happen. But that she could lose it all. And she fears, I suspect, that she did not really love Cio, because if she did, why would she have risked it? Why would she have left that quiet place?
It is, to my estimation, a remaining flaw in her psyche. Not that she should be incapable of love, but rather, she has wrapped herself around this guilt that never truly belonged to her. It will rip her apart if she is not careful.
She loves her. Cio loves her. Their love is still definitely present. Otherwise, Allison wouldn’t have gone out of her way to help her time and again, including now where she’s decided worm time is better than seeing Cio lose herself in grief.
Hey, its about your Girlfriend. Shes made of worms now. Yeah, hers is the path of mutilation. She did it to save you from the very fate she now shoulders. Sorry about that.
That’s the thing about wishes. They are sharp, and they can cut deep if you know you can’t reach them while fulfilling your duty. This temporary wish in particular is just another step on the path of mutilation.
Everybody’s gonna go on about the mutilation line, but that “Phoooo.” is universal, that’s a sound we’ve all made, we all know that tear and that sound and that moment.
That got me more than anything else in this whole series, I think.
I don’t get it. Allison ate the worm, so now she’s part of Team Worm and Gog can make her whole or anything else Gog chooses. But Cio didn’t eat the worm, so this can’t be the real Cio – right?
Gog-Agog has been through countless turns of the Wheel. Who’s to say she DOESN’T have a version or many versions of Cio and Yabalchoath inside of her, ready to trot out for Al-Yisun?
She can’t be Cio from the current cycle, but this is from a different timeline where they didn’t go into Yre. Check panels 2 and 3. Maybe an earlier cycle, in which case one might ask how that cycle ended.
But the black speech in this sequence doesn’t match Cio’s dialect. She used to sound vaguely Yorkshire, but on the previous page Gog makes her sound more Scottish. More like Princess, actually.
Black Speech has various levels of thickness depending on who’s listening – with Allison, Cio almost speaks standard UM, but when she’s out of the picture and she’s talking to other Devils, Abbadon even adds subtitles xD
Another name for an illusion is a lie. To create something takes nothing more and nothing less than to tell a lie that is convincing enough that even the universe believes it. So how wrong the Queen of Worms really is with her claim here is wholly dependent on how good she is at lying.
KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES
And Jaggie not only has a massive ass, but is also holding three of the names that need taking!
TAKE ASS AND KICK NAMES

I’M EARLY AT LAST
How can you be “last” AND be “early”?
MAGICK
With a simple bug in the whole system of time, the worm of great rebirth
GOG ALMIGHTY, EARLY AT LAST
As real as anything else, I suppose.
My thought as well.
YISUN spoke creation into being, and is a self-described consummate liar, so “as real as anything else” might just be Not Terribly Real, hm?
Clever.
What is real then, clever man?
And what “is” “real?”
Probably what Janet said in The Good Place. The universe is just a big food processor, and what is actually valuable is our relationships with each other. That’s the one and only thing that actually has meaning.
Gosh the way Alice braces herself to leave a time so close to heart…
Hers to walk alone is the Path of Suffering.
Alas.
I AINT READY FOR WHATEVER COMES NEXT
Fuck, you and me both friend
The alt text got me haha

See ,that’s what I have been screaming through this metal box, atlass i still yet to see results
Maybe. With time, maybe she will find her happiness.
Also Cio’s outfit here makes me want to reinvent my fashion.
Have you considered that maybe what she is doing right now is bringing her happiness? Clearly she’s not interested in Cio anymore, so why linger on a dead relationship?
I don’t know bud if she really wasn’t interested there wouldn’t be a worm on her esophagus
She is clearly still in love with Cio. Alice feels guilty of Cio’s death and is trying to keep her away because she does not want to hurt her. It’s not that complicated.

This goes so fucking hard
What is real, but what we all agree is real?
Ach, just noticed the tear.
Everybody’s gonna go on about the mutilation line, but that “Phoooo.” is universal, that’s a sound we’ve all made, we all know that tear and that sound and that moment.
That got me more than anything else in this whole series, I think.
I know that “Phoooo.”
“This – this is everything I’ve ever wanted in a life. But I’ve got responsibilities, Van, and I… have to go now.”
Alison – Van , I’m afraid you’re not real…
Gog – It is real you know.
Alison – Who did this to me!
Gog – eh it was you.
I find it unlikely that, after the billions of cycles, there’s any individual that Gog hasn’t Gogged at least ONCE.
the point of separation seems exactly down to the keepers of words and especially AL-YISUN themself.
She can’t be Cio from the current cycle, but this is from a different timeline where they didn’t go into Yre. Check panels 2 and 3. Maybe an earlier cycle, in which case one might ask how that cycle ended.
If what Gog’s been saying is true, it’s all real… This Cio just isn’t from our Alison’s turn. But then our Alison isn’t tied to the turning anymore.
Allison barely gave the Ideal Dream half a minute before calling it quits. Good on her.
Besides, it was a dead giveaway when Cio started talking like a normal person.
I really like the Black Speech. It is kind of like Cockney but with more spice to it.
But the black speech in this sequence doesn’t match Cio’s dialect. She used to sound vaguely Yorkshire, but on the previous page Gog makes her sound more Scottish. More like Princess, actually.

Is it a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare? Either way I’m gonna wake up the GOG.
My guilty pleasure
Early enough to be on the first page of comments, what an achievemtn for me.
This may affect the trout population.
This is going to ruin the tour too.

It’s been a good, long run, abbadon. well done, glad to still be here
Glad to see you still here too!
NOOOOOO DONT PRESENT HER WITH WHAT COULDVE BEEN NOOOOOOO
goodbye weed dimension, you shall be dearly missed.
Allison’s fit change has her looking fresh as always though

Is the path of mutilation like an extra spicy form of path of royalty?
Consider the sculptor’s marble – is it perfect before the chisel or after?
Consider the skeleton – how perfect in bleached beauty it becomes when tenderly unwrapped.
Consider yourself – how much inner beauty could you unburden, if you could but find the will to Strike?
