It’s so annoyingly predictable there’ll be those commenting “Yeah, go girl, show him who’s boss” “she’s a powerful badass now, take that Solomon” etc etc, when all this violent outburst from White Chain represents is a tantrum born of her incapability to persuade through conversation or any kind of argument. This has long been one of White Chain’s numerous failings.
I’m sorry, but both those things are debatable. Which is to say I disagree, but that’s less relevant (certainly to you I’d imagine). But I get it, this is a story with a lot of cool fights, so it’s by no means incongruous to have one.
Comments will be comments. Let’s just enjoy the ride and watch these fools beat the crap out of one another without too much care given to how others interpret the events.
On one hand, it’s certainly not the most prudent response and there may very well be poor consequences for it, but I don’t think Solomon is being all that reasonable either, especially given how much is at stake and how experienced he supposedly is in White Chain’s worries. If I had spent almost three years looking for a man who cursed me with the unwanted attention of royalists to no apparent benefit for himself, so he can take said curse away and maybe help fend off the literal death of all reality when few others can while he’s at it, only for him to refuse 2/3rds of my request, try to gaslight me about what I really wanted of him, and offhandedly suggest I overthrow my friends’ democracy and instill the same kind of tyranny he once created, I’d be pretty pissed off too.
Solomon seems intent to say “well, I tried” and run off to live in the wilderness, trying to attain Royalty in the little time remaining before everything Ends. Which is pretty selfish.
I mean, he certainly can say that he tried. But even lowering his lifespan by centuries isn’t a meaningful sacrifice if the universe is going to end in ten days plus seven combat rounds.
i love whenever solomon-david is On A Page Of This Comic and so therefore all the geniuses in the comments decide to grossly misinterpret his character
ok, I checked what the exact wish of the white chain was towards Solomon. and personally I don’t see any ill will in Solomon’s actions. Well, how can he let people forge their own destiny, standing next to them and saving them in crisis situations like some kind of superman. TV tropes has a name for it, Holding Out for a Hero. and as for the key, I don’t know if it can be divided, but the whole idea of politics is to create a system of law where force does not solve the problem and the power of the key will be used in accordance with the letter of the law established by people, not the will of the holder. It’s easier said than done and there are plenty of pitfalls along the way, but at the moment it looks like WC doesn’t believe in democracy just like Solomon, she just doesn’t want to admit it.
Oooh…there’s about to be a rematch it would seem…! And this time it’s a lot more unclear who would win- White Chain has the Key, whilst Solomon doesn’t, and practically destroyed himself chaining Jagganoth. Then again, White Chain refuses to actually explore the potential of the Key, and Solomon didn’t have it when he bested his predecessor.
But of course the bigger question is what exactly does White Chain want from this fight? For Solomon to take back his Key (that would be a deeply ironic way for Solomon to get it back…!)? Or just for him to get off his ass and at least TRY to help come ten days from now.
So like. While we all argue about White Chain’s motivations is anyone going to point out the parallel to her fight with him in the tournament or are we just going to keep at it with the lack of thematic comprehension and scream about how out of character it is. Also she has every right to be mad, he shoveled all his responsibility onto her and fucked off, and now that she has found him and demanded he own up to his bullshit he’s trying to walk away scot-free with no consequence.
She can and should kick his ass with all the advantage he had against her originally.

Sometimes a boot in the face will persuade when no amount of conversation will. And Solomon certainly deserved it.

it’s honestly a real shame that she doesn’t seem to have done anything other than regress since becoming human

If you want to talk inability to persuade, “You’ll understand some day” is the king of thought-terminating clichés.

White Chain may very well be unable to use it because of the old law imbued in all angels.
Romebros are not only real, but many. It is a matter of concern.
