I like this instant familiarity between them, as if she truly were his daughter; no introductions or formalities are necessary, they’re simply at ease with each other’s presence. It goes without saying that Solomon David irreversibly changed White Chain’s entire existence that fateful day, but to some extent it may actually cut both ways.
Ah, I see we’re talking about ourselves here through proxy eh David?
Not that a fool as wise as I would dare psycho-analyze a king. [this is a lie. I would]
I find it remarkable how Solomon still possesses the text color and eye color of Purple, even after giving up his key. White Chain has the eyes but rejects the power, so that makes sense why she doesn’t speak in purple prose.
Not only did Solomon David give White Chain a magus key, but he apparently also gave her his fishing hat, as evidenced by his statement that White Chain is the one scaring the fish, not him. Following this logic, we must also conclude, that women want White Chain and not him.
YULVUR IRONBLOOD: “Actually, uh, you never found my body and just assumed I drowned, the exact same way that everyone from Rayuba assumes you must have died in the fight with Jagganoth. In actual fact, I swam away, escaped to Throne, and now own a chain of storefronts which offer fine sports and fishing equipment at reasonable prices.”
SALAMI DAVE, casting his Ruvluy’s Fine Fishing Accessories-brand fishing rod back into the depths: “Huh. Weird.”
Ooh! Ooh! What if Yulvur also took up woodcarving in his free time, and occasionally returns to place little statues at his childrens’ grave as a reminder?
Solomon is actually not that tall he is on a little stool and that is because he has no pants and his balls will freeze and stick to the ice without it. You’re welcome.
Solomon David wanted to leave his kingdom behind in able hands, and to follow his own lonesome path to pursue Royalty.
The Wheel has certainly ground him down beneath its weight, but in its own strange way, I feel like it granted him just that.
The Celestial Republic is in the capable hands of Nyave, White Chain and the others – facing many challenges, it is true, but we could not find better rulers elsewhere in the setting.
Solomon is suspiciously close to the sort of personal unfettering usually associated with the successful pursuit of Royalty. I suspect that he does not even want to pursue it anymore – and because of that, he might achieve it without effort.
Also smoking pipes – that seems to be an essential step on the road to Royalty – YISUN seems to have an inordinate fondness for smoking pipes.
And finally, he may have been granted something that not even being Royalty could give him: an heir. A daughter – untwisting a diamond-hard knot of trauma he has carried for millenia. These panels really make White Chain and Solomon look like they are related. Their fight at the Tournament hit upon something truly profound between them. Even as merely a metaphor – it must be said that his daughter is an angel.
Literally.
When Alice destroyed Mottom’s husband, she also undid invisible chains holding the Bearer of Flame down, and set her out of stagnation and into motion once more. White Chain’s duel and the coming of Jagganoth may have helped do the same.
Solomon got that DSBP (dark souls boss proportions)
Might be forced perspective
And the sitting pose reminds me a lot of The Woodcarver/Orangutan from Sekiro, I wonder if that’s intentional…
an inordinate amount of time was spent looking for a tiny, earnest, and exemplary god king shaped hole in the mountain scenery
Yulvur had knowledge of strength and sorcery, but regrettably he didn’t have the knowledge of swimming.

Looks like that scrap with ol’ Jaggy ended up costing Soloman an arm.
I feel sorry for Soloman, here. He’s realizing his efforts ended no better than the man he long overthrew.
I sometimes think of Ozymandias. The quote widely shared is “My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look on might works, ye mighty, and despair.”
I wonder if it was not perhaps misquoted, and actually was “My name *was* Ozymandias, King of Kings.”
If the former is correct, it was an arrogant boast by a long-dead fool. If the latter… it is a grim warning.
look on my* works
They’re gonna bone
FISH FEAR HER
“A very fine and very stupid man”
Ah, I see we’re talking about ourselves here through proxy eh David?

Building can take a lifetime while it takes only an instant to destroy. That´s why destroying is so much easier of a choice.
Punished Solomon is best Solomon.

I laughed embarassingly hard, great job
As did I. Almost wish it were canon.
Ooh! Ooh! What if Yulvur also took up woodcarving in his free time, and occasionally returns to place little statues at his childrens’ grave as a reminder?
Salami: “Dude, I said I was sorry.”
Solomon killed the Thundercat!
‘Women want me, Fish fear
Men turn their eyes away from me as I walk
No beast dare make a sound in my prescence
I am alone on this barren earth.’
-Preem B’ass, Baron of the Grand Pyramid, ruler of the Fishmonger’s Empire
White Chain’s despair here is *palpable*. 🙁
Solomon has apparently taken a page from the Jagganoth school of manscaping
He has become Meti-ten-Ryo. Love that for him. He’s making it work.
Maybe, but the pipe makes me think he’s becoming Hansa. At last achieving Royalty because it no longer matters to him.
Solomon is actually not that tall he is on a little stool and that is because he has no pants and his balls will freeze and stick to the ice without it. You’re welcome.
Shouldn’t the word colour distribution be completely the opposite?.. Great pages. though.
“Yea, ok Ozymandias, take your DAMN gem back, let’s get you some hot cocoa and maybe you’ll feel better”
I take it as implying that Solomon freaking finally advanced on the path of Royalty, given the association purple has with the concept.

Thus does the Wheel turn.
Would the cat people be considered to have a black flame?
dont all servents have black flame? or am i remembering the lore wrong?
Servants are associated with white flame.
Wait was Vulvur a cat person? Cause that statue looks sorta like it.
