Pure speculation, but I wonder if White Chain DID have her (human) body destroyed…and Solomon David made her a new one from himself?
I could see someone like Solomon David having an ego big enough to make an angel his adopted daughter. And arrogant enough to pretend clothing an angel in his own flesh was his idea all along.
Plus, having an angel as a daughter would give him the benefit that his daughter could never truly die, being naturally immortal. He would never have the heartbreak of having this new daughter die.
I wonder if he trained her in Ki Rata, and gave her his key, and then fulfilled her request of him to step down as Emperor. Because he probably always wanted a daughter, not a son, to give his Empire to.
I love the Diamond-colored wings she’s sporting–but color has always been fairly big symbolically in this comic. After speaking to Metatron, White Chain’s color was “off”, and muted. And after she got her new body from Solomon David’s flesh, her angel colors were all the colors of the rainbow and bright–but now the reds/oranges/yellows are missing, and she’s dominated by purple (diamond/will/pride) and blue (mind). Will that be important?
I don’t know that there’s enough book left for White Chain to be a (bad) demiurge here and then have another redemption arc, it seems like her arc should be at its end (for now). So it’s possible the colors aren’t actually a sign that she’s lost something of herself.
I think Solomon David is still inside the singularity with Jagganoth, and will not be returning alive. The purple possibly comes from the keys of Solomon’s various emissaries, since White Chain seems to have been installed as the leader of the new Celestial Republic.
Royalty is being kind of a jerk to a guard just doing his (apparently necessary) job? He has no idea who you are, or what you intend to do. If you have time to casually walk with your eyes closed like that, you have time to say “Gotta talk to my friend. Thank you for your service that I’mma forcefully bypass if necessary.”
Oh damn, i’ve caught up. Well, what a read. Also nice to see how the art evolved. I was recommened this by the youtube channel Overly Sarcastic Productions, and as i’ve said, what a read. Dear god there’s been put a lot of thought into this. Nice mix of religions, and i like that you’ve used non-human angles.

Also, I repeat: Allison has made her way to looking as crazy as the craziest mofos we met when she first got to Throne. Hell, she looks as crazy as any of the mofos she hired for her heist, or the bounty hunters that started chasing her in the first volume, or any of the other combatants in the tournament.
Allison has taken her place in this mad pantheon.
Argh If Alison is supposed to be different from the others you would think she would have at least of modicum of respect for other people. She could have stepped on his face instead of fucking up his shoulder? She could also have said something but that would require her waste her time with mere mortals and maybe not get what she wants instantly. Our hero! The “not as much of an asshole as you could have been”.
There is a third option there, not stepping on him at all!
The point is that the comic seems to be framing her not stepping on his face as more generous than it is.
To be fair, she could lay down her arms… or at least one. I think this comic’s favorite gambit is to make incredibly hard and detailed character design costumes as a show of masochism.
She’s supposed to be a warrior. But she did the most unwarrior thing and grew her hair out, braided it, and capped the ends in metal. Does she want to be grabbed and swung around by her hair/head? Because that’s what happens.
We saw earlier (KING OF SWORDS 10-167) that her hair can turn into what looks like angel-fire, so grabbing it would probably not be fun for the grabber. Her braids may even be functional as a weapon during combat.
Wow I need those portraits on my desktop as a wallpaper. Is there anyway I can get those, or at least permission to make them for my own use? I love that picture of Allison.

Maya as a demiurge also had a pretty impractical hairstyle. Overcoming character design limitations through sheer Royalty is a Demiurge thing.
