WHEEL SMASHING LORD 1-2
Chapter: 1
“[…]And the Lion said: come and see, I have brought Hell here. Every day I will bring Hell to the strong-girded men who you send me, and when I stack their corpses high enough, I will climb your walls and bring Hell inside.”
-Record of the War of the Stones
Damn son.
He-Who-Will-Be-Pantokrator has a number of faults, but none of them are his dedication to customer service.
Dedication to customer service is a fault? Damn, maybe I should quit my job at the supermarket right now. 😛
A ruling king does not serve, customers or otherwise
Does he stack corpes super fast by hand or did fus-ro-dah them into piles?
I am making $100 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning $16,000 a month by working on a laptop, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply. Everybody must try this job now by just using this website.. wÂwÂw.MÂoÂnÂeÂyÂpÂaÂyÂ6.cÂoÂm
bruh
I love how the bodies are smoldering. As of he beat them so badly, that their bodies began burning from the sheer brutality.
It is an understated feat of control, to get so many dead to fall outside the fortifications.
After all that, you have to wonder why he’s still outside the fortifications and not inside.
Didn’t you read the quote? The pile is not high enough yet.
I read it after I had posted, which makes sense I suppose, but he has two piles here.
If he has piles, he might be somewhat uncomfortable and distracted.
He COULD get inside really easily, but then people would flee in all directions and some might escape. Better* to let them come to you, so long as they are willing.
*better assuming your only goal is to unhouse as many souls as possible
“Unhousing a soul” is a really interesting euphemism.
Evil magical landlord, unhousing souls thru the mystical ritual of gentrification
If you’re fielding an army against one man, the best place to fight would be outside your fortifications so that he cannot use choke points against you.
That’s actually a really astute point.
Well, if one can manage to kill an army — we obviously have either poor army management or wrong choice of methods.
It is not a feat of control, but what is shown when those who command behind the walls make poor decisions.
Babylon fell the same way. A great force was outside the walls, and the walls held fast. The advisors told the king, “We have many forces, send them out to destroy the invaders and all will know our strength.” Bad idea. The defenders all went outside the wall, but the general out there was clever, and defeated the Babylonian forces. The Babylonians could not get back in the city fast enough, so they fled around the back, leaving the main gate exposed. Babylon fell.
Here we see 20,000 at Gamion dead, due to hubris. “Ah, that’s just one guy, and we have 20,000. How tough can one guy be?” And there’s your answer.
OH BOY this is about to be informative.
Jagganoth? Or maybe Zoss? Getting the feeling it’s the latter if only due to their size. And I think that skin tone is darker than Zoss…
THE FORMER*
Aaand I just noticed he’s sitting on an actual pile of corpses. Man, I’m lucky I was blessed with such a keen sense of observation.
Even the rocks have rivets. Tough place.
It’s none of them. It’s Salami David.
Nah, man’s bald
Salami has been depicted with long dreads previously during Inky’s account of how he learned Ki Rata
The figure in question is also *much* larger than the average human. Just look at his proportions in relation to Incubus and Maya. On top of that, he looks to be holding a sword which Solomon, a Ki Rata/martial art practitioner, would not necessarily need.
Plus per the current title page seems to have allowed his hair to grow long and wild again
that being said, I my money is still on Jagg
My keen senses of observation (which, of course, only kicked in after you notified us of your observation) tell me that that he seems to be taking a big red dump.
Maybe he should see a doctor.
It’s the piles.
Most uncomfortable.
My money’s on some character who we’ve never met before and was the previous wielder of Incubus/Maya’s Key.
The subtext for the chapter when you hover over the page is “God Eater” which is Jagganoth’s epithet. So it is 100% Jagganoth.
its definitely jagganoth, the hidden text says “God Eater” which is one of jaggy’s titles, or an old one at least
Existence and the act of combat are absolutely no different, and the essence of both, the purity of both, is a singular action, which is Cutting Down Your Opponent.
The page after this one is already available uncoloured on the Patreon, and I can confirm that it’s most definitely our boy Yaun (it appears that he hasn’t taken on his later moniker just yet).
And he is without key or angel feathers here, but still unassailably strong. One presumes that the moral of Maya’s story will be “couldn’t beat him then, don’t even try now”.
Why would you just go and post that? Some of us like to read the comments.
I feel like this must be a young Zoss. Still untempered and hungry.
it’s jag, he’s got those spikes sticking out of him
You’re right about who it is, but based on the greater detail in the next page (currently available uncoloured on the Patreon) those don’t seem to be the angel-feather nails sticking out of him but rather a bunch of arrows, spears and swords harmlessly pincushioning him. So, I’d call the things sticking out of him foreshadowing of what’s to come.
This seems to be set during the Universal war, at the tail end of Zoss’s rule rather than the beginning. If we see Zoss in this story it won’t be a young Zoss but rather a weary long-time ruler, very shortly before he leaves his throne (or possibly just after).
Yea, earlier flashbacks place the start of Maya and Incubus’s training right before the Universal war started, and a later flashback shows that the universal war had started. It’s certainly in full swing at this point.
True…but at no point has Abbadon said directly how long the war lasted; he doesn’t like timelines. Monkey said that Maya would be “hundreds of years old” if she’d been alive at the start of the war.
I think this is early in the war, before Yaun, Maya and “Pale Bolt” became demiurges.
Didn’t the Universal War only begin after Zoss left Throne?
I don’t think so? The wiki suggests that “his reign was ended at the dawn of the Universal War”, but there’s no reference or source given.
The most solid textual indication of a timeline I could find was in the Brief History of the Wheel in Broken Worlds (the KSBD ttrpg). The section on the Universal war says “the Ruling King Zoss hammered the divine power he had stolen from Metatron into a series of keys” and then doesn’t mention Zoss again until the very end, “When the dust settled, Zoss had disappeared and the Demiurges, who had been hundreds of thousands in number, were reduced to a mere Seven.” To me, that suggests that he left at some point during the war, either as a reaction to the war or for reasons that aren’t well understood.
There may be a more definite answer out there that I’m not remembering right now. Anyone?
I wonder for what kind of money or promises incubus and maya would agree to to this task, and i fear even more why Jagg got into this before them.
The Wheel-Turning King, the Red Eyed Heir…
KSBD is so good that I enjoy the flashbacks as much as the main story.
One man siege over there is someone we know
And he’s sitting atop a little throne of corpses, very fitting.
Some say the big guy is full of Jaggy’s invulnerability rivets.
I think his hide is full of enemy arrows, spears, and broken off blades, much like the dragon demiurge.
Tenfold Archer is observant.
By size alone I’d say he counts as more than one.
i bet they can talk it out, like well-adjusted people
Oh yes, Incubus is well known for his willingness to compromise.
Lord Intra is that you?
If that is Lord Intra, then things will end badly for Maya and Incubus if they choose to fight him.
Methinks Intra’s body appearance is a little less…Zangief-like and a bit more close to Zaid ?
Soon to be 1/2, then 1/3.
Assuming this is Jagganoth, is that world where he originated from? If it is, it’s hell of a low odds for two current demiurges (and one former) to have come from the same world out of 777,777.
Also have to wonder why he isn’t already inside the fortifications, he seems to be outside of it.
I’d imagine that Maya and Incubus are the likelier candidates to be universe-hopping at this point
Yea, you’re probably right. I had assumed it was the same world they had been on, but can’t tell if it is or not.
I’m trying to decide if it means anything that Incubus is crouching and regarding the dying man while Maya is turned away and towards the battle.
Good point. It could either mean that he’s more at home with death, or that he’s more focused on what’s right in front of him and Maya on the big picture/future. Probably a little of both.
blood is its own reward
I feel like this is becoming the story of why Solomon is bald.
Why are we even discussing this. Open any page with Zoss and Jagg and you will see that this is clearly Jagg’s skin color.
Oh my GOD I love this arc already. I just hope it lasts slightly longer than the other Meti stuff.
ONE.
i disagree with some of the other commentors who believe that this lion is a man we have seen before. he is new to us. one of many fierce men who lived during the universal war and died leaving only his legend. jagganoth was bald, and the conquering king would have 0 reason to be here.
Solomon is bald now, but he had plenty of hair in the flashbacks. No reason Jagganoth can’t be the same.
God Eater is Jaggy’s epithet, 100% him.
The Red God, once with flowing locks, now bald.
The apprentices of the great swordswoman, whose first teaching was to demand her students shave their heads with a dull and rusted blade.
Interesting.
I read Jagganoth’s later baldness as a metaphor of geezerdom. He thinks like a tired, old man, even though he’s physically strong. Too worn down to pick a new path, even if he’s come to hate the one he’s on.
The size difference between our two sword gods and the One is marked
The One has tanked a lot of hits. Swords and arrows embeded in his form.
If this was Salami Dave, his skin would be unblemished. He prides himself in not being touched in battle.
Can’t help wondering what the pay scale is for Sword Gods.
If the Universal War is underway, what authority is hanging on and offering bounties and/or service contracts ?
What coin retains its value when thousands are getting wiped out by rampaging demiurges ? Is there a contemporary Scribe in house ?
Where’s a Domesday book when you need one ?
THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, LESSSSSSSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
p.s. glad to see you’re posting again. I love seeing your work and I hope that you’re doing well, sincerely: Stoic mountain
