Allison should make sure she saves that arm, and preserves it, even in the likely event that it can’t be reattached (since visions of a future Allison show her to be missing it). Then, if it turns out that Mottom or Gog survived this particular cluster she should smack them with it. Hard.
Still trying to figure out who or what this Russel is. A Jack Russell terrier, rustle as in to rustle something up, the philosopher Betrand Russell ( although what number theory has to do with this I have no idea). A quick Google search reveals a clothing company with the tagline “Russell Europe- Discover the world of Russell”.
Please tell me why? Now excuse me I have to scroll the Wikipedia article of the name Russell spelled, Russell, Russel or Rossell.
If anything, the ‘eye’ of the storm might’ve actually spared her from losing any other eyes or extremities… maybe… rest of the realm certainly aint looking too good…
The End of the Deficiency.
( An Excerpt from Manichaean Scriptures )
This whole World stands firm for a Season,
since there is a great Building being erected outside of the World,
At the Hour when its Architect shall complete it,
the entire World shall be dissolved.
It shall be set afire, that fire may melt it away.
All Life, the Remnants of Light in every Place
he shall gather to himself and form of it a Statue.
Even the Resolution of Death also, the whole of the Darkness,
he shall gather in and make an image of itself
along with the Archon.
In a moment the Living Spirit shall come.
It will succor the Light,
but the Resolution of Death and the Darkness
it shall lock away in the chamber that was built for it
that it may lie in chains in it forever.
There is no other means save this means to bind the Enemy,
for he shall not be received into the Light
because he is a stranger to it, but he shall also not be left
in his Land of Darkness,
lest he may wage a greater war than the first.
A new Aeon shall be built in place of this World,
which shall be dissolved,
so that in the Powers of Light may reign
since they have performed and fulfilled the whole of the Fathers will.
They have overthrown the hateful one,
they have defeated him forever.
The End of the Deficiency.

So… that’s the end of the Demiurges, except for Gog-Agog? Seems at least Solomon-David should make it through, since he’s supposed to be invulnerable… and we STILL haven’t seen him use a ten-finger attack! Also, does this mean we’ll never see Incubus and Maya meet? Me no like.
Still, this would seem the perfect moment for Zoss to appear and give Alison some much needed advice.
(And honestly, Jagganoth p*sses me off no end. I just hate ridiculously overpowered characters that are completely unbeatable.)
Maybe not just unbeatable charactes per sé… but Jagganoth rubs me the wrong way. He’s portrayed as SO much more powerful than the other demiurges, that there’s simply no comparison. So far all the other demiurges plus Alliciochain haven’t even given him a little trouble. The best they could do was paralyze him for a minute or so, and they didn’t even use that to try and banish him like Salami Dave said they would. So far, the battle’s been entirely one-sided. If Jagganoth’s that overpowered, why was there ever a Pact to begin with?
When the pact was made, Jag was much less powerful and the others were more powerful (except Gog, she’s probably grown stronger too). He’s been amassing strength and making dodgy deals with Metatron while the others stagnated and decayed.
I sort-of understand what you’re getting at, I think. There’s a good way to present a really powerful, almost-unbeatable opponent, so that when your protagonist comes into conflict with them there’s a palpable sense of danger and effort to overcome this obstacle. And on the other hand, there’s about 1,000 ways to BADLY present such an opponent.
Of course, everyone is going to have their own belief or preference about what dividing line is. IMO, it’s about complexity.
Flash Thompson bullying Peter Parker is boring. There’s no reason for him to be a jerk other than for the main character to show off. Either by proving he’s better physically (with super-powers), or morally (by not responding to the antagonization).
But the demiurges have, to a one, proven to be more complex than they first appeared. Mottom could have offed Allison in an instant; instead she admitted fear of the result, and showed a bit of weakness. Mammon was made out to be this greedy, ruthless, mercenary type, but when we meet him he comes across as kind of pathetic, almost sorrowful. Incubus is an explotative, hedonistic tyrant, until we learn he’s got a MASSIVE inferiority complex, a frankly tragic backstory (this one could apply to almost any demiurge in fact), and his schemes never quite work out likehe thinks they will. Salamni-Dave is a tyrant, until we see he’s willing to resort to brute manual labor so his underlings can just get a day off, and is enraged by the deaths of his people. etc etc etc
I don’t even know where to begin Jaggonoth- he’s so many issues rolled into one that it would take an entire college of psychologists to sort out THAT hot-mess.
And then on top of all that, we’re slowly picking up bits and pieces of what exactly Zoss’ plan is, assuming he has some plan and isn’t just doing all this for gits and shiggles.
So yeah, I can see how Jaggy-boy being an overwhelming strong physical opponent might come off a little grating to some, but at the same time I think that Abbadon has earned some credit here- that’s not ALL that Jaggonoth is. From what I’ve see so far, he’s kind of like a puzzle. You’re NEVER going to beat him head-on a punching contest. In order to do that, you’d basically have to BECOME Jaggonoth, and that’s a bad road to go down. In order to beat him, our protagonist is going to have to figure out some way to come at his sideways. IMO, that’s sort of what this is showing us. Allison has hit as hard as she possibly can, and got slapped aside like yesterday’s rubbish. The interesting part of the story, is what happens when/if/how she gets back up.
Anywho, I’ve talked too long now. It’s my fatal flaw. Feel free to exploit it if/when we ever have to fight to the death.
You know, i think you’re right. I guess I just got drawn into the story too much, which is a compliment to Abbadon’s story-telling skills. He probably has some great twist set up for us that we still haven’t guessed yet. I just hope it’s not the ‘well, nice try, better luck next cycle’ ending that some people have been speculating about. That would be too much like the ending of the Dark Tower series or Mobius/Jodorowsky’s Incal series.
If Abaddon wasn’t close to ending this then he could start up next chapter with a rewind followed by Zoss back on the throne facepalming into his next design. Then we get the next hero!
Nice, Allison is read to look as kickass as she does on the cover of this book. I KNEW it looked like she was missing an arm. And surely she wasn’t just winking.
im curious if she somehow gets the arm of zoss. look here: https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/king-of-swords-10-140/
and look at the cover of this book. the gem and the tree emblem are literally the same, the fingers are also very similar, although hers have golden accents. or perhaps an arm made by the same person that made one for zoss? though i would expect him to have made his own arm. hmmm

Forgive me for this grievous blasphemy, but, I’ve been thinking… is it at all possible, hypothetically of course, for the sake of discussion, that the usurper Jagganoth could win? And Mammon could lose?
Allison should make sure she saves that arm, and preserves it, even in the likely event that it can’t be reattached (since visions of a future Allison show her to be missing it). Then, if it turns out that Mottom or Gog survived this particular cluster she should smack them with it. Hard.
Man she’s really gotten ugly.
Can’t see what you mean. Even amid such a catastrophic failure, to me our fallen heroine shines like a star.
Russel’s right ’bout who is left
but there’s a certain charm to heft
that leaves the empty hand bereft

I meant Bertrand Russell, sorry for the misspelling.

Thank Gog!

Surprise plot-twist: ALL of the demiurges survive!
…however due to various injuries and/or time needed for recuperation, their kingdoms may not.
I’m curious, what is it about unbeatable characters that you dislike?
