Allison shows nary a mote of understanding. She hardly knows who Metatron is, let alone how he’s active in the current plot … because none of her mentors told her. 82a White Chain didn’t tell her because “BTW I’m under orders to kill you” is awkward. 82b White Chain hasn’t had time to chat yet. Cio doesn’t know. Zoss is too cryptic to bother with basic orientation. So she doesn’t know how to respond and Jagganoth goes off in a thermonuclear huff.
^^^ This! All of this! At least, once you’ve laid out all the history and everyone knows who their allies, enemies, and onlookers are, you can get down to the fighting *knowing* that you’ve picked a side by choice, rather than by accident.
His arms don’t look completely limp, his shoulders are still straight not slumped, and his hands aren’t fully open, but I’m pretty sure he dead. Just wonder if it’s a decapitation or a cleaved in twain situation… was the cut at his neck or waist?
We’ve seen him without his halo before, including immediately before he used his power to summon the other Demiurges. He’s probably focusing his power for defense or a counterattack.
a big swing like that really seems like it’d shatter even the perfect prison and free it’s occupant, I hope we can finally learn who’s word is Mind and whos is Blade
Solomon seems pretty confident that they can take Jagganoth down… weren’t all the other six barely able to match him at best? Not to mention that Incubus seems to be backstabbing them.
I do like how Solomon demands Jagganoth “cease pontificating” only to pontificate himself… leaving himself vulnerable to the attack in the last panel. Dude shoulda been preppin his Ki Rata energy.
It occurs to me that most of the demiurges show very little signs of age except for Mammon and Mottom and in Mammon’s case it’s more due to the fact that he’s becoming senile and other characters point this out, otherwise you wouldn’t really be able to look at him and know that he’s aged considerably over the course of centuries.
Mottom appears to be the only demiurge that has considerably aged and lost power due to this
Mottom: Uses those peaches to keep young. For some reason they only work for a while before she reverts to her true age.
Mammon: Is a Servant, so naturally immortal.
Gog-Agog: Hive mind. Presumably her individual worms die and reproduce all the time, but the collective is immortal. May have gotten her first Key by eating the corpse of a Demiurge, now that I think about it.
Solomon David: Immortal through martial arts breathing bs.
Incubus: Unknown. Maybe he steals live through bathing in blood? Abaddon has said it’s basically his morning beauty routine. Or he uses whatever technique Maya uses. They were both trained by Meti after all.
Jagganoth: Unknown. Can’t even guess.
Jadis: Unknown, though she looks not much better than Mottom when she’s her true age. Is the second-oldest Demiurge alife acording to Abaddon. She may be the only one of the original Demiurges to survive the War. Maybe she’s preserved by the glass she’s in?
Anyway, I don’t think Mottom has actually lost power due to her age. Nor does she seem physically impaired in any way. She just looks ugly.
There are few enough demiurges and they are so different that it’s hard to tell what’s normal for them. However, here’s a thought:
Mottom is channelling most of her her power outwards into her sorceries. Solomon, Jagganoth, even Incubus all invest a large part of their power into their bodies as tools for inflicting violence. Gog-Agog seems to use their power in a unique way not being bound to one shape, or even one physical location, and seemingly transferring it at will but it is still bound to their physical form. Jadis is preserved in glass. Mammon… I think he used most of his power outwards as well, on the maintenance of his vault, and I’m almost willing to believe that in his obsession he’s sort of “lost track” of maintaining his body and mind.
Why is there no like button I want to very powerfully like this comment. I’ve been figuring that each Demiurge is already so different in terms of their bare essence it makes sense that they each have reached godhood in very different ways which is also why there’s only 7 and not 100’s left as their unique paths to power can’t be replicated.
White Chain told Allison about Metatron in Seeker of Thrones 1-4. She didn’t mention the ‘I must kill you’ bit. (Interestingly, in one of the tlast panels Zoss and Zaid were shown to look very much alike. |Maybe that’s where people got the idea they’re one and the same?)
Earlier, 2 Michael had explained that 1 Metatron had originally created the Thorns with the intention of destroying all life in the multiverse, but that he had later decided to support (and controll) the Successor. Presumably he recruited Jagganoth before he changed his mind. 6 Juggernauth is possibly involved too, since those feathers may well have come from her wings.

FFS talk to each other, poeple.

Solomon David’s halo crown thingy is gone in that last panel. I feel like that’s probably not a good sign for him.
Not just his crown. His arms went limp, his fists became unclenched, and his purple aura went out too. I think he might just straight up be dead.
Yeah this is definitely an “omae wa” situation if I’ve ever seen one

Looks like you were correct!
I like to think the second to last panel is Jag going, “Nah, nah, nah-nah, nah, I can’t hear you.”
And not his donning his helm.

YOOOO HOLY SHIT HE DEAD
My favourite hidden text so far. So austere!
My, what big teeth you have.
ooohhsshit moment
Poor edge allignment.
Swordmanship is apparently a lost art under Demiurges at least.
Preem Kuggur thum observsome.
Jagganoth seems like a nice guy
Y’know Jaggy, i can’t help but think this conversation would have went a bit better if you didn’t open it by blowing up a stadium filled with people.
Solomon seems pretty confident that they can take Jagganoth down… weren’t all the other six barely able to match him at best? Not to mention that Incubus seems to be backstabbing them.
Perhaps a mote of understanding might have been gleaned if Jagganoth had explained himself a bit better.
Well it was nice knowing you Solomon David.
I do like how Solomon demands Jagganoth “cease pontificating” only to pontificate himself… leaving himself vulnerable to the attack in the last panel. Dude shoulda been preppin his Ki Rata energy.
Does Alison even know who Metatron is ? Did White Chain ever explain that to her ? If not, it’s no surprise why Alison doesn’t understand.
Actually, she did it in the beginning of Book 3, though not in great details.

Jadis is, indeed, preserved by her crystal, within which IIRC she has been imprisoned since witnessing the true shape of the Wheel.
She desperately wants to die.

“I pity you, fool.” — Mr. T, or maybe Salomon David

oh, and I don’t belief for a second that a Demiurge can be killed as easily as that. Solomon David lives, and he’s not even fazed by that attack.
That wasn’t an attack, I think. Just Jag unsheathing his sword in the most dramatic way.
I’m extremely hyped for what’s next.
I hope we’ll get spoiled with some martial art breathing bullshit though.
Is that light appearing behind Salami Dave? Does not bode well.
Oh the wonderous place these worlds could be, if great men simply bothered to take the time to explain their logics.
vibe check
Jag’s armor placement strikes me as…haphazard.
More like ornamental, considering he’s invulnerable.
