I find this highly unlikely. The Demiurges are stagnation and decay, rot and ruin. They do not have strength beyond strength. They are symptoms of a world where the few prosper at the expense of the many.
And then there are 6 billion demons to deal with… We don’t seem to know much about demons. They were around the time of the gods and considered terrible beings by the gods who appear to have mostly gone about locking them up… but not killing them for some reason? Mercy or are Demons so powerful that even the gods could not kill them?
Aren’t “Devils” the hot black flame? They were given masks by men who returned to Throne after Koss led the way. Long after the gods were gone. But demons are mentioned Only in the time of the gods, the most famous being the red eyed king.
I am immeasurably pleased to see that all the protofascists have left for their dens. I would celebrate, but it seems I’m still in range of Jagganoth’s spite. Does anyone have spare shielding?
I miss the Deimurge’s Boss Subtitles. Like, I want to know which Words they Bear. So far we have GLORY, TOWER, BEAST, FLAME, and DIAMOND. Jadis theoretically doesn’t have a word as she bears the Shape of the Universe, but what about Jagganoth?
We have been informed that the remaining words are BLADE and MIND, and it is theorized that Jagganoth bears BLADE. Yet until our beloved UN-Abaddon shows us the way, we do not know for sure that what I have said is anything more than the Echo of a Holy Lie.
based on both how jaggy is a subversion of the “dumb brute” trope and how Jadis spent much or her life as a brutal swordsman and second amongst the demiurges in terms of power I think we’re likely to see Jaggs with MIND and Jadis with BLADE
This is part of why I love this comic so much; digging deeper and paying more attention to all of the details only unveils more layers of narrative. A casual reader will have no idea that the remaining two words are BLADE and MIND, but for those who do pay attention to it, there is a genuine buildup of intrigue as we wonder who holds which word; the obvious answers or the subversive answers?
There can’t be many places that the Seven are unable to go. The only one I know of is the Tower of Zoss, at the centre of Throne. Possibly also “home”.
It would be interesting to know if White Chain ever told Alison about Metatron.
They’ve had a year together of training and such. You’d imagine Alison has likely picked up a significant amount of the history, culture and other details from Cio, White Chain or the others… But the details about Metatron being alive and having a plan were White Chain’s alone to reveal or keep secret.
Hold on, Preem Jagganoth, that’s an incredibly noble goal but why exactly have you been turning a seventh of the multiverse into ghosts, then?? And why all the…nuking Rayuba???
Metatron is a fascist abomination who deserves nothing less than to become dust but I don’t get your *strategy* and WOULD YOU STOP KICKING OFF WITH THE MURDER FOR FIVE SECONDS???
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond All Reintegration
I think he simply can’t help hurting people. His version of division-travel is lethal to all around. His anger is so great that he twists and breaks people just by walking by them (according to a page footnote some time back). He can’t go anywhere or do anything without death and pain, unless he calms down, just lets it go a little. And SD is really not helping with that.
So far, Jagganoth’s motivation seems very reminiscent of Solomon’s dilemma…just as Solomon desperately wanted an heir, but was unwilling to accept the flaws of any of them, Jagganoth desperately wants peace, but is unwilling to make the effort of actually playing nice & talking with people instead of just endlessly slaughtering them and taking what he wants.
It may be so. Aura in general, halo, flaming shoulders, fists slightly unclenched, sword certainly longer than the distance between them. But then the trail of fire seems to be following the sword tip, and did not appear to reach Solomon nor singe his bedsheet, which seems to somehow have come out from under his armpits. And just before his erstwhile ‘demonstration’ of ki-rata his flames were out (save for his eyes and his brow glowing, which we cannot here see), and one is not sure if Solomon is not leaning back as the blade passes…

I am the silence that is incomprehensible
and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose sound is manifold
and the word whose appearance is multiple.
I, I am godless,
and I am the one whose God is great.
I am the one whom you have reflected upon,
and you have scorned me.
I am unlearned,
and they learn from me.
I am the one that you have despised,
and you reflect upon me.
I am the one whom you have hidden from,
and you appear to me.
I know the first ones and those after them know me.
But I am the mind of […] and the rest of […].
I am the knowledge of my inquiry,
and the finding of those who seek after me,
and the command of those who ask of me,
and the power of the powers in my knowledge
of the angels, who have been sent at my word,
and of gods in their seasons by my counsel,
and of spirits of every man who exists with me,
and of women who dwell within me.
I am the one who is honored, and who is praised,
and who is despised scornfully.
[I am …] within.
[I am …] of the natures.
I am […] of the creation of the spirits.
[…] request of the souls.
I am control and the uncontrollable.
I am the union and the dissolution.
I am the abiding and I am the dissolution.
I am the one below,
and they come up to me.
I am the judgment and the acquittal.
I, I am sinless,
and the root of sin derives from me.
I am lust in (outward) appearance,
and interior self-control exists within me.
I am the hearing which is attainable to everyone
and the speech which cannot be grasped.
I am a mute who does not speak,
and great is my multitude of words.
Hear me in gentleness, and learn of me in roughness.
I am she who cries out,
and I am cast forth upon the face of the earth.
I prepare the bread and my mind within.
I am the knowledge of my name.
I am the one who cries out,
and I listen.
Hear me, you hearers
and learn of my words, you who know me.
I am the hearing that is attainable to everything;
I am the speech that cannot be grasped.
I am the name of the sound
and the sound of the name.
I am the sign of the letter
and the designation of the division.
And I […].
[…] light […].
[…] hearers […] to you
[…] the great power.
And […] will not move the name.
[…] to the one who created me.
And I will speak his name.

Oh yeah. Appalling revelations are here all right, though it took me some time to decypher Jaun’s eloquence – he seems to be the less plain among the Seven and almost makes me to go right to the dictionary. Well… there’s certainly _much_ to contemplate and ponder upon. Metatron’s monomyth… Slaver of the world… Mistakes he maid… Of course Jagganoth can be speaking figuratively, completely or partially, yet still there’s a lot to consider.
Agree with others, the last panel is fascinating. My guess is that’s neither attack no Division, but merely a jesture of contempt and separation from everyone here.
It occurs to me… Perhaps it is not for Alison to defeat the Demiurges.
Perhaps she is to lead them.
I think you may be right
I find this highly unlikely. The Demiurges are stagnation and decay, rot and ruin. They do not have strength beyond strength. They are symptoms of a world where the few prosper at the expense of the many.
*Al-Yisun slaps Mottom.*
Mottom: “What are you DOING!?”
Al-Yisun: “Helping you.”
Save the demiurges through violence.
Jagganoth is simply reminding us that he is not the final boss.
Sorry princess, but out boss fight is in another castle.
Just what the flip are demons!?
Demons are the Hot Black Flame given names and masks. They are endless desire. Do What Thou Wilt!
Define “protofascist” because I have an odd feeling you are attempting to provoke something with this statement.
You could put a world in between you and the great red calamity and it still wouldn’t be enough shielding.
I notice he’s got some Yama teeth going on; i wonder if that is an allusion or just AETHETIC
Take a cigarette in one
hand, the other holds a gun.
The fastest hustle is most fun.
The composition of that last panel is RAD
The work of a dustman is vile and taxing, I am glad
our boy Jaggsey has moved on to better things.
BLADE
i thought it was really obvious
also maybe SWORD i guess
also the shape of the universe thing is probably equivalent to WORLD, but it’s more like WHEEL but also I
although the WORLD/I tension is actually a standard tarot thing since the next card after it in the trumps is FOOL which is also the 0th card
actually it’s probably WORLD/FOOL or WHEEL/FOOL
Apparently Abbadon has said (on Patreon?) that Jadis bears the word MIND and Jagganoth gets BLADE
We have been informed that the remaining words are BLADE and MIND, and it is theorized that Jagganoth bears BLADE. Yet until our beloved UN-Abaddon shows us the way, we do not know for sure that what I have said is anything more than the Echo of a Holy Lie.

So seeing now Jag speech, wouldn’t it be better if all Demiurges united including Allisson and try to defeat Metatron instead?
I’m pretty sure meta is in the spirit realm, and thus can’t be found and fought without the power of the ruling key
There can’t be many places that the Seven are unable to go. The only one I know of is the Tower of Zoss, at the centre of Throne. Possibly also “home”.
zantetsuken!!
nice art. last panel. just saying..
“Enough talking. Talking’s done.”
-Roland Deschain, in Wizard and Glass
i believe it’s time for [a lot of violence and then] white chain to speak up
Allison: Wait, no! Hold on! I understood that reference!! White Chain, you know that Metatron! He sucks!!
White Chain: …I…Well, um, yes, he does. And furthermore—

By YISUN, the Seven seem to be victims of the most spectacularly lethal failures to communicate I have ever seen.
Yup. But unlike most soap operas, this one is written well enough to mask that simple flaw.
And in that question, we confront the ultimate limitation and failing of the Demiurges.
No. He can’t stop. None of the Seven can, they are bound to grapple with the Great Enemy.
Solomon David’s aura is gone in the last panel. I don’t think he has any use for it any more…
It may be so. What would’ve happened if J had just asked the other demis ‘wanna slay metatron’?
I don’t see why they would care about the feathery houseplant.. But surely I’m missing something?

Now the question is: what would be a bad day for war?
When you’ve already got three wars, a police action, a few border scuffles and a peacekeeping operation to deal with?
Friday, usually.
Next panel, Legs and partial torso of Solomon David, with one large bone sticking up.
*EMERGENCY MEETING*
“It was RED! RED killed PURPLE! I was right there, he cut him in-half with the nuclear sword in the middle of the ruins of the great arena!”
“Nah dude I was in Throne doing tasks. WHITE very sus.”
Nope, I was on the Oracle, I saw no one on Throne doing tasks. Also does no one think Pink is sus it looks like he came out of a vent.
Hey now, I think we need to talk about GREEN. Everywhere I go, I’ve see GREEN. I think they’re using the vents.
Talking time is over.
Dude’s got a point, they should be fighting Metatron not each other.
Oh my old man’s a dustman
He wears a dustman’s hat
He wears cor-blimey trousers
And he lives in a council flat

I miss you, wax head.
Control your respects
I was first, and I’m next.
Not one that forgets.
The motion conveyed in that last panel is wonderful.
One particularly likes the chains on his right arm as he brings the sword round, having also leapt into the air.
