Oh my god! I find this series today and then it updates as I’m reading it! I’m in total absolute love with everything about this. Thank you so much for bringing such a vivid world into the lives of so many.
The thorn knights seem to be in vastly better condition compared to the others. Do they have a method of repairing their bodies that the others can not or will not use?
BIRDS is wise. Note that none of those forlorn vessels bear the Angelic eternal white flame of Father Un.
BIRDS is inspiring. I realize now that the First among the Secondborn bears no flame either. Perhaps a Prime Angel’s flame burns so cold and so bright that it cannot be displayed safely in the company of lesser Secondborn. Perhaps BIRDS.
Lacking the hands, or really even the substance to affect the physical world, Aeon’s have always depended on Mortals for their armor. I suppose if an Aeon was unhappy with the state of its armor, it could ask for a new one; from any other mortal armorer that happens to be around. That purchase may come with a cost.
I have been asked for such, myself, on two occasions, but had to refuse.
Well they do hire themselves out as assassins, so it’s likely they get more money for buying new armor. As for why they don’t make their own, maybe the compulsion to administer law is such that they have no patience for such other involved tasks as craftsmanship? Servants, made first, weren’t simply beaten with the law themselves, and Koss might have had good reason not to.
The scholar and his comrade listened in one the goings-on in the great white hall of the angels, and nodded to themselves knowingly. “The girl,” the scholar mused to himself. “It all comes down to her, doesn’t it. An agent of change, she is, to make YISUN himself proud.”
“Ironic, then,” said the scholar’s comrade, “that she be kept safe by the staunchest adherent to tradition and the old ways in all of Throne.”
I’ve heard those words before in a land of Bloodborne beasts, though living lips did not speak this to me. As the great Martyr Logarius, who hunted the Vile-blooded beings, once said, “Acts of goodness are not always wise. and acts of evil are not always foolish, but regardless, we shall always strive to be good.”
Indeed, his actions were not wise, as he said, but he fell carrying out what he believed to be good. Some say he was an idiot, others say he was wise, but one thing is for certain: he is dead.
Pray for him, my friends, and pray for all the others, for everyone’s actions, even my own, could very well be foolish.
Christopher, my understanding is that the angels are not champions of good or evil per say but of LAW. Lawful good and lawful evil. The lawful good angels are mostly gone, the few who remain are mostly lawful evil.
Maybe Alison should start off her anti-Demiurge campaign by heading back out into the Void and kicking all of those corspelike giants until they wake up and get back to work, the slackers. 😉
A Concordance of angels? There are but a handful present, and one of those few is dangerously close to abandoning that for the Thorn. Koss forged my entire kind created for a most singular purpose, and yet even in that first moment, when my predecessors knew naught *but* that purpose, they were not so reduced to mere tools as the Thorns seek to be. Disgusting.
I am not familiar with your people, INGSVLD. For what purpose were you forged? They say we of Children of Avesh were first made to Find and Retrieve, but I believe we have become so much more~
I appreciate that you are curious, Tor Avesh, but I find discussion of the topic to be in rather poor taste. We were made to be *things*, it is true, but to acknowledge that, even in rejection of that fact, is to connect ourselves to that nature.
In a way I find that a curious stance to take: Perceivers were themselves made by Aesma with the intent of acting as tools of the gods, just forged recklessly by an unpracticed hand, yielding no particular expertise among them. Perceivers manage to make themselves of use at all anyway, and sustainers likewise are capable beyond a narrow purpose. The mistake is in presuming one class of inheritors owes another, when none claim the title of having forged one.
…Well, I mean, perceivers did mask and name the demons, but that seems to have been done just to sate curiosity as to what they are, so I guess that’s paid for simply by gracing the worlds with their presence? Also, I dunno if that even counts.
Oh thank god, the alt-text has a direct Bloodborne reference. Now I don’t have to be shy about referring to the Gunwitch as “that Bloodborne character”.
Awesome blog. I enjoyed reading your articles. This is truly a great read for me. I have bookmarked it and I am looking forward to reading new articles. Keep up the good work!
An interesting dialogue is price comment. I feel that it is best to write more on this matter, it may not be a taboo topic however usually individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers.

Oh man, I got that Bloody reference! Nicely done, I wonder how many Thorns there are in this Lion’s Paw.

HMMM BIRDS WAS THINKING IT MIGHT BE THEIR OLD ARMOR AND NOT THE SHELLS THEMSELVES. BIRDS MAY BE WRONG, BIRDS SOMETIMES RIGHT.
BIRDS INCREASINGLY THINKS THE VOID IS RIGHT.
BIRDS BIRDS

The school houses are empty, and the trenches full.
Very well said my good sir.
What’s really terrifying is when the temples get emptied. That’s when you stop counting the war in battles and start counting in apocalypses.

Looking at it from above, that large block with the tree growing out of it sure seems like a hammer…
Indeed. I believe that is the chisel of Koss.

The Thorn Knights don’t seem to mind being called evil.
Nah they are all like, whatevs

Wonder what the significance of the left eye vs right eye is in the context of 2 Michael having both.
Passion and purpose. The twin sides of the brother and sister that were born from Yisun.
Ah Hah! At last we hear 2 Michael speak, After so long watching this exchange in silence.
One syllable of steel upon stone, as if to say “your part is that of an insect, to be crushed”.
I hope we can hear more of 2 Michael’s voice.

Of course, Preem INGSVLD. I understand perfectly.
As far as I am concerned, we are as Perceivers, and we should always act in accordance with that.
In a way I find that a curious stance to take: Perceivers were themselves made by Aesma with the intent of acting as tools of the gods, just forged recklessly by an unpracticed hand, yielding no particular expertise among them. I think this may be my favorite page.
.__. =o__o=
Is that tarot symbolism I see there with the three spears piercing Michael’s chest?
Spears in the back versus swords through the heart, either way the meaning’s the same.
Sczzzlk.
That tree..it reminds me of something, yet I cannot recall what exactly it was. I must have seen a similar on during my travels sometime.
I have seen something similar in the gardens of a seven-faceted woman named Elizabeth.
Is this what you recall?

The Eyes never lies. To the right are Thorns aplenty. To the left are Preservers slim in number. Betwix them lie one who is left and right?
Another difference is that the Thorns carry no sign of the preservers. And while Micheal bears no thorns, he also carries no dysk.
Ah. Koss… Or some say Kosm.
Concordance of ATAR made living. Good luck with that, then.
so 82 said “it is an evil path?” it’s kind of unclear

You know, I don’t think those swords are doing you any favors, Mike.
