WHEEL SMASHING LORD 4-111 to 4-112
Chapter: 4
“The master of masters – the king’s essence is in inaction. He must be perfectly still. Otherwise he ceases to become a man and becomes a force above human will, and none shall see a better day for it.”
-Annals of the Yellow City

We’re not to be forever be ruled by the cruel, nor crushed under the wheel.
If your goal is to do away with those who’d grind us under their boot, and not become the same as them, you must be able to throw away the boot as well – But first, you gotta do away with its owner. Reach Heaven Through Violence.
This is the meaning of royalty.
In the darkness of your room
your mother calls you by your true name
You remember the faces, the places, the names
You know it’s never over it’s relentless as the rain
Not being sarcastic when I say I’m gonna throw a wild one out there that Maya has killed Incubus in the intervening timeframe, and that her key just looks like her mage stone, and she intentionally hides her diadem/wastes no power.
I mean really she can probably just do that, but I like to imagine she could just hide having killed him for way longer than you’d think. Like every demiurge probably has the ability to replace people, and who the hell wants to challenge them on it?
I bet I could jack the 747.
I see Allison is developing fourth wall-breaking abilities. That will be useful. 🙂
Gotta wonder, will they fight the Chakravartin? Or will they convince him to take them to Metatron? Metatron is the one who wants to end the world, Jagganoth just wants his own cycle of suffering to end.
He is a prisoner of his own pain. Is that what Metatron wants? An end to his suffering? He was kept alive to preserve the power of what came before, and so in a way he is just another victim of royalty, and became in turn perpetrator.
…
Royalty is a continuous cutting motion because royalty is not a person, it is a blade. Whoever holds it must strike, because there is no other action to take with a sword. It is a useless and despicable thing useful only for that cutting motion, much better there be a world without a single sword. A world without royalty. And yet it is only by wielding the sword can you protect the rat, protect the world, and protect yourself from the same blade you wield. The price of safety from violence is to become the greater violence. Swing until you are one with the blade. Swing until you can no longer choose otherwise. Swing until it is the blade that wields you.
A blade’s purpose, the nature of a continuous cutting motion, is to dwell forever within that which you hate, that which started the swing.
Jadis is trapped in her past, present, and future, without agency.
Mammon was trapped in a world without value after he sacrificed everything to escape.
Om was trapped in the belly of the beast that devoured her.
Maya found no purpose in the blade, and let the her sword arm drop when shown the bars of her cage.
Solomon was trapped with the unhealed wounds on his heart, unable to make a world so flawless he would no longer be injured by the past.
Gog dances forever in that tightened noose, suffocated by her world, constantly seeking others who she strangles in turn.
Jagganoth is trapped in the same endless war that stripped him of…everything. He is trying to cut the blade itself, and so he has become the blade in a way more absolute then any other demiurge.
On the other side of the coin, Incubus is both the least of royalty and the purest. He’s just here for 1. A good time and 2. A long time.
He thinks constantly of death, and uses the sword as it was meant to be used: To kill. Because the reason for his cutting motion is the cutting motion itself, he is a meagre royalty, and the freest among their number.
Can we say that Incubus is the purest of Royalty? He is trapped by his own desire to be great, forever chained by the circumstances of his childhood and the horrors he faced therein.
He does nothing simply for the sake of it. He exists to drink blood in a carnival of violence, the apex of the most accursed of those loathsome beings whose existence derives purely from the vital essence of others, as he was taught was the mightiest form of life in the wars over the keys.
He is not slave to himself and not sovereign over himself, simply plodding along because that is all he knows. It would be one thing if he comprehended other paths and still chose to walk his own path, but he cannot even conceive of the fact that other paths have any value.
To be fair, there are others further from the purest essence of Royalty than he, but they are few and far between.
To be fair all of the Demiurge are traumatized by their pasts. Jaganoth no less than Incubus. Salami Dave by the loss of his family, Om by her horrible husbands appetites, Mammon by his murder of his own family, Maya traumatized by Incubus over and over.
I feel the reason Jaganoth and Incubus allied is because their similar histories of horrible childhoods.
Incubus thinks he can dismantle mine own?
Does he, now?
Come on Allison, you don’t get that old without keeping a few secrets. Besides what is space and time to someone who can lie bald faced to God?
Maya does not travel, she just arrives.
As my formless self was wandering through the spaces between, I came across a name of a universe I had not thought of in years, the name Kill 6 Billion Demons. Ah, yes, I thought, I should rewind my memories of this place and repeat what happened so very long ago, so that I may properly witness the end of this iteration of the wheel, whatever it may be.
Translation: oh jeez oh cheese I forgot how fan-flippin-tastic this comic was, glad I remembered about it before it ended heck it’s been so long I had to re-read the whoooole thing pfft silly me~
Actual Comment for This Page: Do as you wish Allison~ Weeds are strong, they will take all the nutrients from weaker plants. Trees are strong, they will leave no sun for lesser plants. Sometimes in order to remake the earth into a tranquil garden you must destroy the natural order.
Now then, it is time to wield the forces of the cosmos the way men wield sharp rocks.
Why does every female character just slay so hard.
I love how the characters evolve.
This comic is so good, that netflix is going to ruin it with an adaptation and all of us will have to create a subreddit to gripe about the good old days which are happening now.
It is simple to believe in strength, yet even the strongest know that the stronger is not always the victor. All is one, yet all is never reducible to one.
Calling it now; Jagganoth comes out of that orb pure Black then Al-Yisun and the Jagganoth fight for seven years, break out the Jaggahog for seven hours, and make a new wheel.
Must the Wheel be re-made?
All previous attempts to change the Wheel have resulted in a universal reset, perpetuating the Cycle(s). Rather than destroying the Wheel and re-building it “better”, why not try something else? Something without a cyclical implication, perhaps? A cone has a precise beginning, but no defined end- just expansion. Build it to avoid asymptotic curvature, and you have a relatively stable base with room for growth. Any sectors of the outward face of the cone which wither would be overlapped and erased by the expansion of other portions at the face.
If Alison has the power to break and re-build the Wheel- why not build something else??
