Is our dear friend, who I suppose is nameless at this point, despite the name we once knew her as, separating her arms in half? Didn’t her penultimate form have four arms? Hm. This doesn’t bode well.
And do we know who reconstructed her mask yet? I would have thought her companions would have mentioned their pale devil friend had they been responsible.
Demon who was once Cio, Yabalchoath, do not seek to turn back time.
You are a demon, born of the hot black flame, raging storm of change and potential. Your name and face are a mask made by another’s hands.
Remove it, and reforge it by your own will, choose for yourself who you are.
Someone has to politely explain this little demon that allowing oneself to be enslaved by worm hivemind doesn’t exactly constitute “returning to peaceful times”.
Not only would you remain Gog’s puppet for the rest of whatever, but in case the multiverse is destroyed, you will be thrown all the way back to the beginning of times in the brand new timeline. Chances are you will never even meet Allison ever again. Hell, it’s possible she would never even be born!
The supposition is that a big girl like Allison *might* be able to coexist with Gog Agog, rather than being subsumed. Also, that worm is very different from the one she offered Allison before– a queen, perhaps?
Did I miss something?
When Allisson killed Cio?
I thought Incubus did.
They need couple therapy to move forward in some new arangement where both accept initial lose of original Cio and their time together and if wanted move forward but with this new self of Cio, but I doubt Gog is a good candidate to play the therapist to these two.
It’s the thing of, “if you whanted the mouse to live you would have stop him” which in this ocation is def bullshit, prety shure it’s the survivers guilt tallking
Black Dragon of the Red River Under the Eaten Moon
I know that this is important emotional processing or whatever, but I’d really like to skip to the redemption/reunion part of this particular story thread.
Interesting narrative arc here. What right does Allison have to decide the choices that can be made by someone she claims to have mourned and moved on from? None at all, in truth. Not unless she believes that her will is privileged to usurp Former-Cio’s because it’s more convenient to her own narrative and personal growth to do so. Even if it’s a mistake. Allison’s already lost her Cio, what this remnant does with itself ought be no concern of hers. Methinks Allison yet has much enlightenment to acquire.
I mean, since that time she basically told Cio “put up or fuck off” on the ship, she’s believed that “her will is privileged to usurp” Cio’s. Allison is, I think, not supposed to be the most “likeable” character… I certainly don’t often “like” her, even if I appreciate she has many harsh struggles to overcome.
I absolutely love this devil’s design. The smooth, featureless carapace that in reality is a bunch of mouths stuck into flesh, to cover gaps in the armor. Also love how the devil has basically no blue in their design, but they’re always covered in blue flecks or blue highlights in shading.
Wonder what thats supposed to mean symbolically. Fuckin rad.
Those openings from which… mandibles, and blood… burst forth, they strongly remind of the cuts inflicted by Incubus. These wounds reopen after the attack. Why is violence the only response Allison is capable of now?
Allison is frequently shown to be very limited. I had thought she was being depicted as having reached some new level (of “enlightenment?” “Royalty”? Whatever), but no, she immediately resorts to smacking not-Cio around. OK then.
I am confused by this thing that bears some part of Ciocie Cioelle. I’ve have seen it written that it is a pale devil, but as much as such have any consistency from one to the other, this has never seemed much like that.
More plainly: Pale devils tend to have gray, furry bodies and asymmetric, irregularly shaped masks with red eyes. This thing is going 0 for three. So I’m wondering why there is this assertion that it is, or ever was, a Pale Devil in the taxonomic sense
*sigh* Fine. I got caught up in how I was phrasing my query, decided “when in Rome” and waxed poetic; I feel the question “when have we been told, in or out of story this thing was a pale devil?” was left implicit with the phrase. Regardless, I didn’t and still don’t see how the response even remotely addressed it, so I got a smidge frustrated.
I mean, she’s not her though.
I get where you’re coming from Allison but this one is both not dead and not Cio.
She is a Devil haunted by her past self, created in the shadow of a broken mask.
Just as with Cio and Yal.
Cio had much of Yal’s potential in her. She could have walked a similar path, but she chose a different. Because she was not Yal.
Instead, Cio grew into something new and beautiful, who knew joys and sorrows Yal could never have imagined.
Where Yal thought claiming a Key would be her ultimate triumph, Cio wore one incidentally while fused with her love, and it didn’t even bare mentioning. Where Yal might have dreamed of standing strong in the face of a Demiurge, Cio became Aspected Chaos and fought in a battle to determine the fate of the multiverse, utterly eclipsing even Yal’s wildest ambition.
If that is what the child of the failure Yal was capable of, what could be possible from the child of that glorious Blue Devil? A White Devil who clawed her way back into the world, who made a mask of her own, and has the will to shape her own fate?
A Devil is both at their strongest and weakest when unnamed, because they are pure potential. They are strengthened and weakened by their name, because a name comes from outside. What happens to a Devil who chooses their own name? What is a Devil who forges their own mask?
Seen ho this is quickly scalating into conflict, i think it would be hillarious if for a portion of the fight we are lookin at group of Gog- agogs joust eating popcorn and reacting to the fight wille we only see the speech bubles of Alison and “Cio” arguing , it would be prety funny
But in all honesty, it would clash compleatly with the mood of the ark, but it migt even put things into new perspective, all I know is tha if this happens, I will change my title to “Stev the Divinator “
Not a lot of holograms so far in this performance – or any holograms, as far as I can tell. I’m starting to think that we got lied to when Gog-agog promised that the leviathan review would have holograms. I don’t think this even qualifies as entertainment level 3…
Talking to a corpse isn’t very sane, especially when it talks back.

part of me wonders if incubus may have had a hand to use her against Allison, given the pink theming
ohhh-good catch!

Cio once was Yabalchoath, not the reverse. Except for a brief moment in the Golden Tower, but I don’t think that counts?

Whether that applies to this Devil, who knows.
am i the really the only one who noticed the white flame and black flame both change colors? i CAN’T be the only one
Who are you to come back to me,
What is the ache that keeps you in chains,
Who are you to come back to me,
And do you want me to come towards you
If necessary, I would go again,
For many deep nights and some more,
Without ever seeing the dawn again,
Without ever seeing the world again
So that you could finally sleep,
So that your heart may finally find rest,
So that you finish dying
Behind your already closed eyelids
Ooh, pretty.
this makes me ache
Whew, that’s gonna be an itchy hug. Stingy as hell.
apparently not dead enough

I love all the different expressions of the Gogs.
Well at least this not-Cio, if she wil get humanoid form, should be taller than Allison.
That will change the dynamic completely.
coca cola
Don’t you hate it when the dead that you’ve already mourned try to come back
“We can be together again!”
*I gently push them back into the grave.*
Regret against Guilt. A cathartic epiphany will soon occur.
Smdh that’s a grub not a worm. When will Gog’s lies stop 🙄
Mealworm
I know that this is important emotional processing or whatever, but I’d really like to skip to the redemption/reunion part of this particular story thread.
Would you say you want the version where they’re happy?
There’s so much… Juice…

Citation needed, is what I’m saying here
I think it gained some insight from reacquiring a piece of mask.
That doesn’t answer my question.
More plainly: Pale devils tend to have gray, furry bodies and asymmetric, irregularly shaped masks with red eyes. This thing is going 0 for three. So I’m wondering why there is this assertion that it is, or ever was, a Pale Devil in the taxonomic sense
You didn’t actually ASK a question, for the record. You got too caught up in your own verbosity/ “scholar” role-play.

Now kiss.
She is getting spikier and Kronenbergian by the second!

An excellent title Stev, one befitting the victim of such a coincidence.
