traditionally, Ki Rata, being as dangerous as it is, is only supposed to be known by a few masters at once. SD probably wants to continue that, leaving his heir (and that one master squatting in one of the districts in Shades who never got brought up again, other than a note on one of the spread pages) as the sole user of the art.
More that he recognizes that he is wholly unworthy of knowing the Art of Ki Rata, and that she must prevent him from teaching anyone else, as is also traditional to the Ki Rata Masters.

Between Fish and Ki-Rata masters there is a pact. One that the master of all fish is anxious to have fulfilled. White Chain is just the latest link in that pact. She will fulfill the fish or cut bait prophecy with the worthless life of Salami Dave. After she has wrung him dry of Ki-Rata and become the master herself.
To divide and sever. This alone lies at the heart of all things. In eating, you sever yourself from hunger. In sleeping, you sever yourself from weariness, but also wakefulness. Endeavor to sever yourself from all weakness, and in turn, you shall become unseverable.

Solomon has become both humble and wise, easily the best character in the story. The comic might have started with following Allison, but in my heart he’s the real main character 😌
He believes might makes right, but at least he’s principled enough to also believe being defeated makes him wrong and his conqueror right.
Compare the look of Salami Dave with the original masters of Ki-Rata that he sought out to ask to save his world. Salami Dave has become like those he helped to reach heaven.
I like that David has kept some of the little carved offerings on his shelf.T

When you say ‘”I’m not sure either of them know how to cook” are you referring to (1) White Chain and Dave or (2) Dave and the crabby fish in the lake?
Mr. Fish is like “I’ll uh…I’ll just be going. I’ve got…a thing. Yeah.”
Also, I wonder if White Chain will reject Dave’s teachings. “I am heir to your power, but not your methods.”
I think the wooden icons on the shelf in panel 5 are a very nice touch. Brings continuity with the beginning of the chapter.

Because, ordinarily, Ki Rata is so dangerous that the only reason masters of Ki Rata remain alive is to find and crush individuals who begin to independently discover Ki Rata.
Also, Solomon is probably the single most lawful person in the known universe, besides maybe Jadis, if she counts.
It must have been an interesting experience for Solomon David to make himself dinner for the first time in his life.
Love the comic and first time commenting! Also while I think Solomon probably doesn’t know the intricacies I think he has some mild knowledge. Then again he probably doesn’t know much. I think definitely White Chain knows more due to watching Allison and Cio cook. Also Rip Cio
Everything about this shack smells like a guy who has no idea how to build things but has way, way too much power to be bothered by that fact. That unsuported ceiling rack? Held up by Solomon’s TK.
How did that shelf end up anchored to the wall? Did he have a rock-drill? No, he used One-Point Peircing Leaf technique to skewer the rock with a twig because he doesn’t know how to make a decent shelf.
He had to tell White Chain about the counterbalanced cooking spit. It may be absurdly prone to collapse, but it’s obviously not a problem if one simply controls the vibration of their feet on the ground so as not to disrupt it. Think of it as a training aid first, and a cooking implement second…
