WHEEL SMASHING LORD 3-56 to 3-57
Chapter: 3
“The law of peace is the weakest law. But the law of the strong is no better. A man who lives his life by this law will very quickly find himself alone – with no foundation, he is constantly at risk and his next step may see him plummeting to his doom.”
– Xte Xte Xto, Yellow Monk
It doesn’t seem that hard to give your Key to someone else, we’ve seen it happen multiple times already. She could give it to anybody, like Nyave for instance. Why is White Chain so insistent on giving back to Solomon?
Maybe because she knows that Solomon could use it immediately. Anyone else would probably take decades or centuries to master it, if they managed to live that long. White Chain wants him to take it back and rejoin the Good Fight.
That, and consider what it must be like for White Chain.
She is vitally aware that her Atum, her soul, is HER. She has reached past being an angel, if only briefly, and it changed her.
Then there was the horrible fight, and Solomon forced his key upon her, shoving it into her SOUL.
Touching someone’s soul without their consent is violating, as neither can come away from that experience without being changed by it.
So yeah, she’s more than a little pissed about having a Key being used to violate her innermost being and change her FURTHER, then foisted responsibility for his crumbling empire onto her as well.
You’re probably right on some level, but I am pretty sure that White Chain also really wants to shove the key right back into his forehead. Possibly with a clenched fist… Or up his rectum.
Angels can be vengeful and hold grudges.
-1 Truth is a Matter of Perspective,
I appreciate your insight. Have any of the Aeons had a key of kings foisted upon them in such a brazen, non-consenting manner ? [ Alas – we don’t get to view the millions of iterations of time rewinds performed by Zoss to find out.]
I too was unsure of the origins of White Chain’s contained distress. Yes, part of it must be due to the role she’s staunchly refused to accept – that of ruler. The other must be in having this… spiritual power artifact forced upon her.
As I consider further, the Aeons as a group might well have very strong feelings and views about the creation of the key of kings ( and their use )
– because they derive from the divine names of YISUN and so might be considered a kind of ultimate perversion of divine power for base ends.
One can look way back in KSBD at defeated Metatron punctured with Zoss’s arrows and imagine them thinking, “Take the Names – and be Damned.”
if Solomon won’t take the key back, can White Chain come to accept it ? Though she didn’t want it, does it not bring her closer to YISUN ?
What say you White Chain ?
Sol, is it really fair to be calling them”like starving dogs” when they indeed, actual starving people???
yeah.
I think he meant that with a healthy dose of irony, now that his main concern is a fish supper.
Put it in the fish.
God-fish, god-fish, god-fish.
What beats a worm god? Fish god.
love white chains human design with angel wings
I think she kinda mad.
Responding to someone telling you what you don’t want to hear with extreme violence, truly she has learnt what it means to be human
hmm, weird, almost like they’re both dancing around the fundamental truth that neither of them can run away from reality, that change happens regardless, and that if you want to influence that change to be for the better you’ve got to continue participating even if it’s hard and unpleasant
world sucks, but sometimes all you can do is keep moving forward
may solomon’s story be the bad dad redemption arc
White Chain is utterly beautiful in physical and astral forms. This provides relief from at least one of her chronic pains. As is the nature of life, other pains refill her cup to overflowing.
not that this matters to anyone but after somehow not knowing about this comic for 10 years in a day and a half of reading this is where ive finally caught up!
it’s pretty good, isn’t it!
Man, I really do not like White Chain at all. No nuance whatsoever, no matter the form. Just violent.
She’s an angel… And one that has been reincarnated often.
She’s young.
Angels have trouble with nuance, but age lets them grasp the more… Mortal aspects of communication. Besides- nuance is only a few steps from lying, and angels usually crack when they lie.
Yes, my name is relevant.
Eh, I’m not at all convinced she has that excuse to fall back upon any longer. She at any rate ought to be learning by now, to have already learned SOMETHING, even if it’s unreasonable to expect her to be the final enlightened product. Just a little disappointing all White Chain amounts to is STILL “I don’t like this; I’ll be violent”.
Hawt.
I’m sure abusing a broken old man will right all wrongs.
Indeed, reach heaven through violence.
I’m a Scout leader. There are 6 ranks. In order to advance to the last 3 Scouts must act as a leader in the Troop in one or more of the offices.
It is not unusual for a Scout to be reluctant to do so. They will up and tell you that they don’t want to be a leader. They don’t want to set an example. I tell them “You are an older Scout. This is not a question of whether or not you will be a leader. You *are* a leader. You have no choice in the matter. The question is not whether you will be a leader. The question is solely whether you will be a good one or a bad one.”
Even without taking back the key, Solomon could be of great help in holding the Celestial Republic together. Appearing alongside White Chain at diplomatic meetings with the heads of the rival factions, he could further legitimize the democratic process by endorsing it as former emperor, appoint temporary bureaucrats to positions that elections haven’t been organized for yet, and assure any upstarts that climbing up the ranks electorally is a better choice that trying to wage war for the head position.
Though also, even if White Chain wants Solomon to have a fancy key in his forehead to walk around looking as though he still had his full power, she could simply make him her envoy. Allison is able to walk around with the true power of her key unrecognized by most, so as long Solomon has a glowing purple thing up there, he could probably trick many warlords into thinking the old system has been restored when really they’re being directed in building the new one.
As for Solomon’s desire to be an old man who simply fishes to go home and cook, he no longer seeks royalty, and thus it is being given to him easily.
So, last time I asked if Chains had a plan besides beating an old man to death, and it doesn’t feel like she does! She spent years they did not have tracking down an old man to beat him to death!
I get it’s cathartic, and the world will end anyway, but come on, girl, you surely had better things to do with your time.
If I was generous, I’d say that she’s trying to provoke Solomon David into killing her and taking back his Word, because I suspect (and she would know) he is perfectly capable of killing her and taking back his word… but you’re not going to provoke him by beating him to death.
You can’t reawaken his pride, because his pride is the direct cause of this and he’s smart enough to know it. You can’t appeal to the memory of his dead wife and daughters, because that’s why he abandoned the Word in the first place.
You could encourage him to reframe his attitude, etc etc, but the only reason he became Emperor in the first place was to rebuild his home and that’s now gone and he obviously didn’t care about the rest of it enough to keep on keeping on without it.
So, I’m genuinely curious to see what’s going to happen next, because I suspect our angel is going to kill an old and helpless man while he doesn’t fight back in order to learn some lesson she could have easily learned without killing him while he doesn’t fight back.
Welcome to humanity, 82 White Chains Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil.
Ultimately Solomon has a point. This isn’t about power, it’s about responsibility. Giving her power back to Solomon does not return to him the responsibility of leading those who would follow.
A true ruler is sovereign to their subjects.
A true leader helps their subjects to be sovereign to themselves.
White Chain has made the fundamental error of assuming that a leader must also be a ruler. As a being of Law, it is an angel’s nature perhaps to presume rule of law immutable. Yet as a being who has surpassed her own laws, she needs to recognize that is false.
Bro lost one fight and now he’s gonna mope about it over dinner?
