She learned from Incubus and now she’ll learn from Maya. I wonder if that’s better or worse than getting a crash-course from Meti herself.
Bearer of the sWord (of) MAYBE
Badass pages are exceedingly ripe of badass comments.
it looks like allison’s will is able to manifest her severed limbs (which is metal as hell) and her teacher is mirroring her in many other ways. perhaps the broken blade is fully realized in the hands of its master. our protagonist may be in for (another) rude awakening.
The non-existent part of that blade is very long and very sharp.
It is all length and no width.
Maya is again doing that 5e Hexblood Warlock stuff and is summoning or pulling the Maybe Sword out of nowhere.
If I remember correctly, we’ve seen Maya use her sword by actually cutting with the shard, not some spot a foot or three away from her hand? That’s what really makes it awesome, more than just an invisible sword like Selar has in the Dilvish stories.
And who fucking says women fightning each other is not awesome?
This is a new level of training.
Also, note the rain on the invisible limbs, panel 6.
That ready-pose in the rain may be the single most badass panel in the entire comic.
“If I’d been any less drunk, I might not have survived.”
Note that Maya, rather than doing a full flip as might be expected, landed on her head. I think it’s a deliberately smug move — “I, too, can use my head”.
Also, Maya’s robes did not, in fact, flop down around her face, as might be expected given loose cloth under gravity.
While it might be a continuity error, I think it’s an attempt to show that at this level of play, two phantom limbs are nothing much — Maya has enough phantom mojo to hold all that cloth up and away. But not quite enough mojo to keep her wine from leaking. Well, everyone has her limit. Maybe she could have done it if she weren’t drunk.
Agreed, not a continuity error! Just another show of badass mojo from beloved Maya. And I don’t think she cares if the wine leaks, she’s got plenty more where that came from – wherever that might be…
If it wasn’t Alisson and her scenaristic immunity, I would have called that last sentence “famous last words”
What if she becomes mute forever after?
Grandpa is observant
That one time when 818 Beholds predicted prosthetics made of light
I read comics avidly. But almost every time I read your comic I get into manga mindset and I mistakenly start reading from right to left !
And then Alison died the end.
Wonder how her roomates would react, if she landed in their appartment looking like that.
Maya was only impressed in the frame when Ali first made her SPILL THE WINE
Now I understand why she didn’t feel like she needed the prosthetics.
Very interesting how blood alchemy was a point of contempt for Jagganoth regarding his old master, and how now Incubus is very strong in it.
The young woman is correct: One does not use a sword. A blade is a temperamental serpent fools clutch to their side, eager to strike when you wish it and eager to strike when you don’t. Like a serpent the best you can do, after simply leaving it slumber, is to point it in directions that don’t contain anything you happen to like.
Occasionally it will strike what you wish and nothing more… but occasionally a man might walk through the rain without getting wet.
I’m very glad Allison has some serious fighting power in her finally.
Also Allison standing up through pure force of will is a great panel.
hitmontop lookin ass… pogo stick lookin ass….
Fuuuuuuck yes, just sliding to a stop on her head.
Thems fighting words. I’d be terrified.
Every time i hear about Incubus, we reminds me of Aesma. Even if he is beaten and ridiculed, if all his plans fail, he just keeps going. He struggles. And he is never happy with what he has and strives for more. Thats what a Master of Want would do.
But he wants only one thing.
He’s driven by real, seeking power only to assuage his insecurities.
Those are what are endless, not his greed.
An improper comparison; Incubus’ ambitions are too focused. His flame burns only what’s flammable. Pree Aesma desired all and more, and only with that degree of pure, ignorant want was she able to lift the Wheel.
This may be one of the most badass comic book pages I ever laid eyes upon.
Allison just fucked around.
Now she’s gonna find out.
Epic comment! Absolutely right.
Alison just got out of the boat, big time.
Penultimate panel: fuck around.
Last panel: find out.
Also, literal phantom limbs.
