“Victory is that thing that, once achieved, becomes meaningless.” -Rickson Gracie, Master of the Style of Folding Clothes With People Still In Them (AKA Brazilian Jiu-jitsu)
I don’t understand this psalm, for Allison never answered about the truth of violence and tyranny. Can she face the Wheel turning king without becoming a despot, by will or inaction as the Conqueror King? Is the only thing that defines the world is the ability to choose when to die and when to go away?
Well, why do we assume that she wants to fulfill the impossible task of breaking the wheel and stopping the cycle of violence? It’s what others *tell* her to do, but we haven’t ever asked how she feels about it. All she wants right now is to stop Jagganoth from ending everything, but what happens after that is entirely in the air. For all we know she’d be entirely happy to rule as a vaguely benevolent, Western values promoting god king despot of the world.
If the central argument is that, as Maya said, the tools of revolution and oppression are the same, then Maya’s concern was not Allison’s ability to wield them but rather whether they would, themselves, wield Allison. The concern at the heart of all of this was whether Allison truly had *agency.*
The Maybe Sword’s inability to cut her is the evidence that she does. She cannot now nor ever again be bound by fate.
I suppose it’s also worth noting that the Maybe Sword *not* cutting may be, in a more vulgar sense, extremely valuable in fighting Jaggonoth, who believes himself both slave and rebel against fate.
The Wheel Turning King is fully, entirely invincible, but Maybe is something else entirely, especially if wielded by someone like Allison.
There isn’t an answer to that question. Alison worked that out already. Existence is an exercise of violence and loss, and to be true royalty is to forge on regardless.
Allison put that knowledge into practice again, here. She knows the shape of the universe is ultimately a lie, and the maybe sword another lie told. She chose to not believe the lie, to believe she is alive, and so she is.
Allison doesn’t have to become the King, she doesn’t have to do anything. But she wants to stop Jagganoth because he’ll hurt everyone. She doesn’t have to answer his question or mission in doing so.
My last month’s paycheck was 11000 dollars. All I did was simple 0nline work from comfort at home for 6-8 hours/day that I got from this agency I discovered over the internet and they paid me 45 dollars every hour.

It took me forever to figure out what she was mumbling with her mouth full. For anyone having trouble: “You think I got a shot- you think I got a shot after all?”
Ignoring Maya’s previous statements about those who might obliterate their opposition, inherit throne, and become god of that world; that’s also the point where Zoss would presumably roll things back.
So… perhaps not what’s going to happen.

i love that panel of them eating on the mountain of broken god statues, and not just because of the obvious fact that “murder the gods and topple their thrones” has indid killed some gods and toppled their thrones, but just because of the sheer awesomeness of it.
If the Maybe Sword does not cut…then does one even need a blade to wield it? Maya never placed a sword in Al-Yisun’s hand, only trained her body and tested her mind.
Royalty is a continuous cutting motion.
In the same way one can row a boat with their hands but probably should use a paddle, one probably can cut the world with only their hands but its way more badass to use a broken sword instead.
Why would one use a hand? Maya ten Meti may wield a broken sword like a sorcerer may wield their staff, yet it is her own imposition of will on the world that changes it. If one cannot choose their fate, then the wielder need only choose for them and so it shall be.
Today. It took me until friggin’ today to realize Alison might be YISUN and all the tales from the future. Because I had never read more than a few comments before. Thank you, 2 Ponderous Indecisions Protects From Harm, for opening my eyes to it.
Always good to see the teacher give their aknowledgement at the end of the road together.
So the thought is that she will be able to cut Jaganoth in half because he is so convinced of his own fate, even if that fate does not include dying?
This is the part in Baki where the protagonist usually figures out they are dreaming

i love this comic so much man
This is shaping up to be a nice chapter in the infinite expanse of reality
the power of “nuh uh”
Yes, yes, but becoming King of the Wheel isn’t the same thing as Breaking the Wheel. That’s altogether much, much harder.

NOOOOOO! That would be a huge waste of a barista-turned-wheel-smashing-metaphysical-paradox.

Yet, it was not the Maybe Sword’s inability to cut her (Alison) — on the previous page, we do indeed see that Alison is cut.
Rather, it is Alison’s ability, or rather agency, to choose otherwise, that is key.
She decides not to be harmed. She decides that reality shall be a certain way.
We shall see where that will take her.
“If the world rewards violence, are we forever doomed (fated) to be ruled by the brutal and the cruel?”
If you can choose your own fate, you’re never fated (doomed) to be anything.

God killing? must be Tuesday.
If I can save someone else from a frustrating few minutes trying to sound out the gibberish, what she’s saying is “you think I got a shot after all?”
May the blessings of the world find their way to you, friend, for you have saved someone today
Great

SILENCE, YOU HALF EATEN MOLD-COVERED TOAST!
I dunno, sounds like they ate that molded toast.

Allison is really put together well.

I mean, she has been called Al-Yisun by others misconstruing her name. The clues are always there for those patient enough to seek them.
The question is not what you will do when it happens, but what you will not do when it happens.
Simply tell the maybe blade “No.” It cannot legally cut you with this 1 simple trick.
ÏA! ÏA! She is alive! 😀

isn’t his entire thing changing his fate and the universe’s ?
His entire thing is attempting to remake fate and the universe, all the while directly perpetuating that which he wishes to destroy.

Answered above by Menachem and Shira: “You think I got a shot- you think I got a shot after all?”
This is my favorite page in the entire comic.
