It seems as though Incubus is going towards a classic gambit of survival with this move: enshrine his fire in her mind, and possibly assume control when the war has died down. It’s what I would do.
Incubus is either very wise or very foolish. Wise for putting himself at the back of the Rising King. Foolish for failing to understand, while nothing can destroy true royalty, it can certainly obliterate everything else in it’s proximity.
Are you guys sure this guy is Lust? He deals in sleep and dreams, he suggests she cheat to success instead of working for it. Nothing about this is particularly lustful or pleasurable. He seems to me more like Sloth.
The fool; unwise and uncaring, they grasped the flames and gained power instead.
-A Fool, moments before they exploded and reduced a world to ash. Hardly anyone who survived was surprised.
Methinks this will not end the way Incubus wants or expects, already the Rising King has overcome great challenges through pure will, augmented by the Key of Kings. So this will yet again be another challenge she will cut through, and like Valdok and Mottom before, Incubus will find himself on the wrong side of the cut.
Though the question is – what will he lose? Valdok was diminished to a mere blue imp and Mottom lost her tree of false youth and her chance at freedom. Albeit one she could have had anyway without Allison, but was too cowardly to grasp. Thus things do not look good for the master of dreams…
Though in his favour, he at least offers her something of real value, which may get save him from the terrible blade of want. And furthermore, questions remain on how the Key will respond to Incubus’s meddling, given it is the master one.
It is a dangerous game that Incubus plays. In the fields of sympathetic magic, no greater tie can you hand a caster than a part of your very being. Putting it inside of them ensures that they always have it close at hand as well.
The moment Allison decides to turn on him, she will be able to strike him with the Art wherever he is, past any defense, because she already has access to his innards.
Cio refers to those who accept power from one of the Seven as emissaries. Does that mean he’s just given her a ley stone?
And if he’s putting things into her head, part of me worries whether he can also take things out. (Which is certainly possible, since Cio’s done it.) I really hope she doesn’t wake up to find herself with a simple leystone in place of the Master Key.
I have faith, though. Key or no key, Allison has the power of Want, as we know from the tale of Aesma and the Red-Eyed King, such things are not extinguished by temporary subservience.
When one is mortal and scared of so much,
the promise of strength in mind, body, and soul,
is like the hope of water to a man lost in a desert.
The thing they want most may not be evil,
But it is their desperate need for it that drives them
And causes their actions to become malicious.
It is known.
I’m sure this is a good idea and not a decision she will regret very soon.
There’s no way this could possibly backfire at all.

Oh, shit son. Allie gonna regret that.
Well let us hope Incubus is ready if he creates a force he cannot stop
Alison knows how to invite the curse of interesting times.
Also is that a freakin tooth she hocked last panel
Maybe you two need to rein it in a little

All the greatest heroes have always been fools… or have all the greatest fools always been heroes?

As opposed to she who languishes, unmoving, in a shell of glass, raising her voice to a thin whisper on rare occasions of great importance.

A well-executed contrast / parallel with Mathanga ten-Meti’s backstory.
Silly Alice, didn’t your mother teach you not to make deals with a devil?

So, I was looking through earlier comics and this caught my eye:

She made this same ‘Mistake’ when she got Into a drinking contest with a Black Demon. And she Won.
Let’s not count her Out, yet.
Pre Aesma look upon this daughter of your creations and rejoice for she pays tribute in imitation of your divine recklessness.
Mephistopheles
Stormbringer
Bloodstone
Incubus
(:
I fear this deal smacks a bit too faustian for my tastes.
Think she said it, all right… She will kill him herself!! *hastily scrawls dojinshi on the walls of my cell*
It occurs to me that while Royalty has many qualities, making good life choices is not one of them.

… This is all sorts of not good. Probably for all parties. Hold on- let me get some popcorn to watch the fireworks.
Starting to get a bit crowded in the space between hemispheres.
