King of Swords 9-121
“Once, there was an angel with a flaming spear that guarded the western gate of YISUN’s speaking house. He was rigorous, martial, and followed the exact letter of the Old Law that had been inlaid into his very being with Koss’ silver chisel. At the time, most angels were like him, and they were exceptionally inflexible beings. They could not rebel, so well they had been hewn, against the slightest violation of their code. This made them all extremely cruel.
One day, Prim passed by on the road, and happened upon this angel flogging a group of men of the oldest nation with a lash made of lightning. The men had refused to take their shoes off inside of YISUN’s speaking house – they had journeyed far and did not know the law of the gods. For this minor offense they were being punished rather severely, and their cries were loud and fierce.
Cleverly, Prim took her jeweled comb from her pocket, which she no longer used, since she had long ago hewn off most of her beautiful hair, and bade the angel guard it with his life. Being a lesser being with no practical free will to speak of, the angel could do naught but comply.
Turning back to his prisoners, the angel made to flog them again, but found that the comb was so delicate that every violent motion he made sent it tumbling and ringing and threatened to shatter it. He could no longer continue his violent, oppressive work without fear of harming his duty to the daughter of Hansa, to protect this small and delicate thing.
He gave up flogging the men, and for the first time ever, began to think.”

Hail Prim, in her wisdom!
The comb is a symbol of the Root Knights that we have seen before. A reminder that without proper temperance, even the Law can be become as indulgent as petals and as harsh as thorns.
The law is clear on the surface and ambiguous in the depths. The aeon fills the law with who they are. Their soul and character are reveled.
So in panel five we actually get to see inside White Chain’s head for the first time. Intentional symbolism?
I think it’s important to note that right before this whole fight started, our old angel sibling tried to say “…wait”. I think this is what they were trying to state the whole time – not that Allison was the largest problem and that she needed to be nearly killed – but that White Chain had forgotten gentleness in teaching her, and molding her.
Regardless, this is fascinating to see; another angel trying to support White Chain.
It says something that when confronted by another angel, even one bearing Root Knight iconography, White Chain automatically assumed their accusation to be one of being too gentle. Not even bothering to hear out their words to be sure.
She needs all the support she can get.
So this…isn’t Vengeful Iron? His word bubbles and speech patterns don’t at all resemble Vigilant Gaze, so I’m very confused. And didn’t this angel awaken before White Chains’ “banishment”?
I’m not at all following this anymore, it’s a little confusing. And is this actually Juggy? Because the armor looks a great deal like the one Metatron offered to White Chain.
What the Throne is happening, here?
Juggernaut Star’s old person-shaped body DID get bisected and explode, why let the armor go to waste?
I guess I figured they’d just remake Juggys’ previous armor, but this also makes sense.
I’d recognize that MISTAKE anywhere
I think the true Ash Armour of Juggernaut Star is the Hell Motorcycle
The Aeons are immortal. It gives me great pleasure to think that maybe, possibly, hopefully, it was 1 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil who first received the comb from Lady Prim.
What would Solomons intro music be?
I imagine the John Cena theme music, 2pac’s California Dreaming, or Beethoven symphony 3 “Eroica” movement 1 depending on his mood
Only if it’s the Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling version of Cena’s theme.
To Implacable Foe of Divine Tyranny, he has trained an entire cadre of sons to perform the song acapella and proclaim his triumphant presence across the land
E.S. Posthumus – Unstoppable
Swans – The Seer.
I figure definitely Bach, “The father of harmonies”, probably something of the cello suites.
(Weird, I seem to have been purged from the whitelist of the comments fields of several webcomics sometime yesterday. Let’s hope this makes it through moderation.)
I Have Long Wondered
How much of The Law,
And the Binding Rigidity of Angels
Is Forged into their Armor
Has anyone else noticed that White Chain’s comb is broken now?
If you look back, you get a clear shot of Rusty’s comb, and all four prongs are the same size. WC’s comb has one prong broken.
Huh, hadn’t noticed that. I looked back a bit and the last time we see it intact is just a few pages ago, page 9-119. You do have to look closely though (praise Abbadons penchant for detail! 😀 ) but there is a bit more obvious view on the previous page.
So, it appears to have happened during the sneak attack, but neither Allison or Cio appear to have hit it, maybe it broke from the shockwave? Or it broke on it’s own?
Either way, Vigilant Gaze (or Vengeful Iron as some think they might be) doesn’t appear too concerned or upset about the fact that it broke.
The delicacy of Prim’s comb was this parable’s lesson one feels, but the lesson of 9-119, which one now realises upon revisiting – is that without an angel the forged ash body should have been as inanimate as stone (as when pierced by the vacus needle in Hell 71) – and yet it was not. Thus at least Cio should have realised that sibling White Chain was still ‘alive’ and still inhabited it.

I mean, was there ever any doubt about this outcome lol
This one is full to bursting with optimistic hopes!! This one appears to have possibly been wrong about the corruption of these ones brother 82 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil!
THREE ANGELS WALK INTO A TOURNAMENT, AND THE FIRST ANGEL SAYS…
Well look who is here. Time to hide the tea cups
You just had to ruin the party
that ANGEL with the BURNING SPEAR’s name was LUCIFER
and at that moment PRIM decided to be a good SAMARITAN
LUCIFER was cast out of HEAVEN
Except that the theological realms of heaven and hell don’t exist in the KSBD universe. Sure, there would be worlds/universes that would be considered heavenly (given the devastation of the universal war, probably one of the unclaimed universes, like Allison’s Earth) and worlds/universes that would be considered hellish in the fire, lava, and brimstone sense, but the angels and devils aren’t the same as the theological ones.
Can we not drag the mythology of a group of runaway Egyptian slaves into this?
Could it be that Vengeful Iron changed his ways since he made that quote we know him for? Maybe he was even the one given Prim’s comb.
I heard “mistake” like the voice of that guy in Parasite along the tones of “RESPECT” haha creepy
“siblings,” not “brothers”
is our boy, dare I say it….
based?
I owe my kin of the barrel shape an apology… These words speak to a greater wisdom than I expected from an Aeon in this age.
up until now, i thought disc-head angel was just gonna berate her like the others do. i love him now
This is a great article thanks for sharing this informative information. I will visit your blog regularly for some latest post. I will visit your blog regularly for Some latest post.
wow i love this prim story.
also damn dude. maybe you shouldnt have given white chain a guilt-shame-self loathing attack back then by going point point you suck as an angel!!!!!!!!!!! and then not intervening at all
