BREAKER OF INFINITIES 2-51
Chapter: 2
“U-am-yet was old, yet spry. During the war, he often ate his lunch up by the cape, against the curfew. Soldiers had to chase him down several times and fined him his ration cards, causing him to go hungry.
When I asked him why he risked so much, he told me the ringing of steel from the Princes of the World fighting in the low valley, some ten leagues away at that point, could be heard growing closer every day, and he wanted to be ready.
He went up there every day and ate his lunch, and memorized the sound of death.”

And so Maya really didn’t get to do anything after all. RIP.
“Yet.”
[E1M1 INTENSIFIES]
*DOOM Intensifies*
I shall show you intense. Fetch me my Juggling Balls of Doom!
Oh bugger. No hands.
Does Maya still plan to strike Incubus down even at the cost of giving all to the Red God? Maya is a splendid fool methinks.
Taking her power back from a pup who’s been mishandling it could be a helpful thing. Maya bearing the word Flame would be a very spicy meatball.
Agreed, Maya stepping in to bifurcate Incubus and take back her responsibility could tip the balance of power. In the ranking of demiurges, we don’t know how she used to compare to the others.
You are all beautiful fools to think that such a thing could turn the tides against the RED GOD, but all the same such is the reason you may continue forwards while I die rooted to the spot smiling at stars.
I’m imagining the “DOOM”s played to the sound of Darth Vader’s theme-song.
Not sure if sound effect or somebody actually writing Doom in the sky.
Murder the gods and topple their thrones was it? Have at it girl!
“Reach Heaven for violence.”
Looks like the fight started and Jagganoth didn’t one-shot all 7 opponents. That’s better than they might have managed.
Unless every “doom” in panels 1-4 is one demiurge falling, the loud one in panel 5 is Jagganoth and Aspected Chaos coming together, and the rest is just rubble bouncing.
Auntie! 😀
Out at night with jewellery in.
Feel the air against your skin.
Extra cold where it’s stretched thin.
Big mood.
Not fly.
Jump good.
I really want Maya to jump into the fray as well, but how things are progressing, I don’t know if and how she would tip the scales. Unless she has some new attack/power hereto unknown to audience?
yeah she just swings her sword harder
I wouldn’t be surprised if her whole purpose was to head up there, die instantly, and drop a sword for Mr. Inky.
There’s something poetic about waiting for years for revenge just to be casually oneshot and end up helping them instead.
“Just have to wait til they inevitably fall down again.”
Ah, the poor Rayubans. When the gods are fighting on the earth and in the heavens, where do you have left to run to? Unlucky beggars, the lot of them.
Dang it Aunty Maya, you had one job, kill the ickyboi goblin man…
The DOOMs are not the sounds of them fighting, they are in space. But they did lift a ridiculously large clump of stone/earth, with loose ruin/rubble all over it, straight out from the ocean near a heavily devastated city, to get there. So in all likelihood its just the sounds of massive rubble slamming into the ground (Some of which might actually be from an unseen fight)
It’s about to start raining demiurges.
Princess and Zaid are gonna walk right into her. The team-up is coming, I can FEEL IT
Maybe it is time for the Destroyer to truly grow old and fat, and go out and have (adopt / step mom) lots of grand children.
She seems almost obsessive about sticking that sword in to Incubus, as opposed to WTH would she do with 111,111 different worlds? Is her path truly any better or positive that that of Meti’s hermitage in a market-side barrel? Even if she became a demiurge, what would she do other than eat noodles and mourn Meti?
Her self-destructive obsession is as bad as anything Incubus has offered to date.
You forget, she is a fool.
Damn
“Maya’s timing is not very good”
Looking back at the page where she notices Incubus, and how her clothes and hair are different, all together better kept, I’d say Maya’s timing is not at all. This is a previous incarnation of the same event, would be my guess. One where Maya didn’t decide to… reach heaven through violence.
She’s just missing the orange belt thingy.
I do believe 21 Notices The Variable Constants has accurately noticed the variables and constants.
Maya is younger, her back mon is a different color, and she is missing the gold belt. Good eye there Variable.
Clearly she noticed inky was out and about, and so went and had some noodles and a bath and combed her hair and probably helped some shop owner sweep their place.
The thing about marching to your death is that you need not do it quickly. Death, will wait.
Interesting idea, but the setting looks very much like Rayuba in the current time of the story. Solomon’s palace is in one of the panels, and the citizens are in typical Rayuban costumes. I don’t think it can be Rayuba during the Universal War, and AFAIK there’s been no fighting in heaven since Solomon took over. Thus, if it is a flash-back, it must be to a previous cycle, not to a time earlier in the current cycle.
Sorry, I might have not been too precise in my previous incarnation. Exactly, it’s this exact time, in a different cycle. Maya remembers it too. I haven’t linked her red gemstone with Jagganoth before, but it might be linked, as it seemed much more bright red and glowy before than it is now. I would say that this Maya we see now didn’t act. The current cycle Maya will.
Previous cycles didn’t have Chaos to float the boss fight arena into the air, and in previous cycles, the heir killed the other demiurges before trying to solo Jagganoth.
Better luck in your 23rd incarnation?
Luck is a luxury that is seldom available to those of my kind.
We have no idea about where the battle took place in previpus cycles and lifting the battlefield isn’t a feat that any other demiurge couldn’t do. They move suns.
We similarly have no idea who is fighting up there in this page. If the heir killed the demiurges, would he rule from Rayuba? I see that as a possibility. Would he inherit Solomon’s grand ideas? Quite possibly.
The colors on Maya’s back have shifted from the last time we saw her; a new cloak, a different time, or have Jagganoth’s knocks on the walls of reality just set some minor things askew?
“Just stop for a bowl of noodles, I said. What’s the worst that could happen, I said. The fight’s on DBZ time now, it’ll be impossible to be late, I said…”
I am impress of what i`ve seen here.
Muy sabio. All are mere impress of what we’ve seen.
