True Royalty is only inconvenienced by Mortality. For indeed, to take the Mantle of the King is to BECOME the King. Allison will become Zoss, and Zoss Allison, and both shall be Royal. It has been written.
Allision is not Zoss. Everything Zoss did was and were things only he could do. Everything Allison does is something Zoss could not do. She is his Successor and her name is Kill Six Billion Demons.
And that is why neither Angels nor Demons can ever be considered true Royalty. Only humans get to decide what their true name is, and a human can change their true name practically at will.
He had those in his last appearance, at the end of chapter 4. But then, he also had a halo-crown thing above his head which seems to be gone. Also, he sounds a lot more articulate now than he did back then.
I don’t know, it seems like Zoss had them before breaching Throne. Could it be that he knew Angels from before? Well, if I believe that he’s in fact Zaid, it makes sense.
This is true. If a being cannot choose to stand, does not have the arrogance to take hold of power, then they can never be Royal, no matter how many titles other heap upon them.
Heh- you cannot keep the Conquering King down, it seems. Aspirants to Royalty rarely do as they should, even if all of the multiverse says there is something they must do. Though he slew my many brothers, it is good to see Zoss again.
In other news, it appears as though Nadia is taking the countenance she possessed when handling king Pryan Sor. This would be a prudent time to flee, but I would see AL-YIS-UN claim heaven through violence.
*Arrives with 30,000 gallons of various inks.* “that’s yer basic gossamer dream ink, yer indelible time ink, and yer fate’s testament ink. Hope it keeps you satisfied until your regular shipment comes in.”
I was thinking also, on the other side of the coin, of “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.” Allison dares to disturb the universe, even though she is afraid.
‘I am no prophet—and here’s no great matter;
I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,
And I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker,
And in short, I was afraid.
And would it have been worth it, after all,
After the cups, the marmalade, the tea,
Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me,
Would it have been worth while,
To have bitten off the matter with a smile,
To have squeezed the universe into a ball
To roll it toward some overwhelming question,
To say: “I am Lazarus, come from the dead,
Come back to tell you all, I shall tell you all”—
If one, settling a pillow by her head,
Should say: “That is not what I meant at all;
That is not it, at all.” ‘
All shall bend the knee, for we are in the presence of TRUE royalty!
This one still wonders however; now that Alison has decided to become a molder of fates, what fate shall she mold for Mottom? She speaks of intent to help her, but is this desire to assist driven by true kindness and sympathy, or is it driven by Alison’s disgust with what she has been shown? This one suspects that the answer to that question will tell us all a great deal about the true character of our Alison.
It seems to this one that She may be motivated by a desire to “fix” Mottom, perhaps in order to make a friend out of a foe, and a potential assistant along Her path to Royalty.
If I may step out of the comic and its meta for a moment (I know, Blasphemy), this page reminds me A LOT of Mage: The Ascension. Specifically, it’s Allison meeting her Avatar again. The Avatar, in MtAs, being the magical soul every Mage possesses, and which goads them towards Ascension.
So Allison, it’s not time to balk now. Hone your Will and grasp True Magick.
If I’m reading this correctly Allison is so annoyed that she just told Zoss that nothing will stop her from taking the place of YISUN and that she is The Successor.
Murderous Vagrant Slays Monsters And Steals Their Loot
No? She was feeling apprehensive again (that moment of lucidity right before you do something crazy and you’re wondering what drove you to do it in the first place), then Zoss showed up and reversed Mottom’s entire spiel from before (how she was shaped by her experiences to become the monster that she is now and that this is the burden of power; Zoss refutes this by saying those with true power shape themselves and the world around them, not the other way around). He ends by rhetorically asking Allison if she wants to be a badass or a weenie. She chose to be a badass.
And now AL-YIS-UN, true heir to the throne of god and the Wielder Of Names, having seen the truth lying behind the thrones of the Demiurges; that they are mad and pitiful beneath their gilded exteriors, and for one with the will and the resolution of True Royalty there is nought to fear as she takes her inheritance! Burn the tree AL-YIS-UN, and topple Mother Om from her floating castle in the sky!
Then grab as much of her fancy loot as you can carry and sell it off at the grubbiest yet most reasonable valued pawn stores in Throne.
bro for life
And indeed beyond.
Death is but a door, time is but a window.
He Will Be Back.
For a dead guy Zoss shows up an awful lot.
The dead are found littering the streets in Throne begging for coin; at least Zoss is politeful remaining in his void form and mind-state.
True Royalty is only inconvenienced by Mortality. For indeed, to take the Mantle of the King is to BECOME the King. Allison will become Zoss, and Zoss Allison, and both shall be Royal. It has been written.

All-I-Son? Hm. Hm!
No. All-Ysun.
All-Is-On(e) HM HM!
AL-YIS-UN
One That Rules
AL-YIS-UN …. Allison…. All-Is-on(e)
Zoss is not held by the whims of causality. His death was but an end of a very twisted path.
Do not defy fate. Embrace it, and become its master. In this, become ROYALTY.
Mottom embraced fate, but as a slave. Allison has chosen royalty, but can she hold it long enough to become its master?
Do defy Fate. It gets all pissy and mad, but secretly Fate finds it a terrible turn on, and it it happier to do as you want afterwords.
The first word of royalty is the name you choose for yourself.
And that is why neither Angels nor Demons can ever be considered true Royalty. Only humans get to decide what their true name is, and a human can change their true name practically at will.
He said it! He said the thing!
Yes. A full-on title drop.
Yes. A full-on title drop! They are satisfying, are they not? Look up “Unsounded.” That title drop took like three years and was worth every day.
And with this, Alice-UN takes her first step towards royalty.
Waaaaaiiiiit… are those invincible Jagganoth nails in his head?
No idea. Could be a fashion statement for all I know.
That being said, I hope you’re right. Jagganoth was given the feathers to forge into nails. I like to imagine Zoss made his own without assistance.
He had those in his last appearance, at the end of chapter 4. But then, he also had a halo-crown thing above his head which seems to be gone. Also, he sounds a lot more articulate now than he did back then.

No. Check out the Broken World RPG.
[x] King [ ] Not King
You go, Allison – or should I say KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS woo!
Zoss held that key for millennia. Of course he’s going to have left a mark on it. And he clearly chose Alison and not the boyfriend.
I don’t think it matters who he intended to choose. True royalty chooses themselves.
This is true. If a being cannot choose to stand, does not have the arrogance to take hold of power, then they can never be Royal, no matter how many titles other heap upon them.
Now, All-Ysun has grasped Royal.
Let us see if She also gains the title Wise.
I am reminded of a certain inept queen.

Though Allison seems like she’ll be far-and-away more competent a sovereign.
WELP can’t say she’s inept now!
Long live the king.
Heh- you cannot keep the Conquering King down, it seems. Aspirants to Royalty rarely do as they should, even if all of the multiverse says there is something they must do. Though he slew my many brothers, it is good to see Zoss again.

This is going to cause a lot of paperwork. I’m going to need more ink.
We can come to an understanding, I feel.
*Arrives with 30,000 gallons of various inks.* “that’s yer basic gossamer dream ink, yer indelible time ink, and yer fate’s testament ink. Hope it keeps you satisfied until your regular shipment comes in.”
Reach Heaven through violence.
Burn God, and see if he screams.
Also, see if He tastes like chicken? (probably tastes like pork)
Anyone else feel that Invictus is appropriate here?
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced or cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
-William Earnest Henley

Is Invictus ever inappropriate?
When administering a protological exam.
All shall bend the knee, for we are in the presence of TRUE royalty!

Por que no los dos?

Exactly the reaction he was intending, methinks!

I’m suspicious that this is really Zoss. This is how Mottom ended up in this state.
Either kings should be philosophers or philosophers should be kings.
Philosophers tell truths the whole world knows. Kings tell lies the world believes.
Ooooh Allison’s eyes changed color on that last panel- the first sign that she’s finally embracing change? Nice.
She is filled with Determination.
And so it begins, the Ascension of the Wielder of Names.
Wednesday is going to be very fucking metal I think. As if burning down a man-tree that feeds on blood and grows fruits-of-youth wasn’t metal enough.
Indeed, I feel that she might even encounter some resistance by the Glutton Queen. The power of Want burns deep in both of them.
As the Wise Sage of the Seventh and Ninety-Sixth Realms once said, BOSS FIGHT!

I’m loving Zoss’s comic book emphasis talk. Especially because emphasis doesn’t occur that often in K6BD, so when it does there’s weight to it.
Also I love Zoss period. Every time I see the Conquering King I squee with joy.
This is the Eleusinian Mystery, and we are watching Proserpina kick ass in real time.
