Does a thorn prick because it is part of a greater blossoming whole, which must be protected until it can bear fruit, or does it function merely in the name of self-outward violence?
Remember a thorn is designed for violence in protection of the blossom. Without outside interference it is no more violent then the branch it resides upon.

I don’t know what they were thinking standing around in an open corridor without even trying to hide themselves. Angels may be badasses, but espionage doesn’t seem to be their thing at all.
*you turn and see 6 Juggernaut standing behind a bush “hiding” with a single talon held before their face as if to say ‘shhh’ and decide you’re better off pretending you didn’t see anything*
Some semblance of a narrow concept. White Chain is come back to make wrong choices hoping to get better results than repeating the same old ineffective choices. Aught we welcome one to pain?

So I am noticing that there is a lack of eyes in the sockets of white chain’s head. One assumes this is directly related with the recent removal of said angels human face however what is yet to be revealed is its significance.
This is very true. Perhaps I should more frequently seek the company of angels in order to truly see through such fallacies and comprehend the truth fully.
I’d been wondering whether White Chain would have visible eyes after ripping off his face! Interesting to see that his color change didn’t seem to last (judging by the blues/reds going into the body, and the blue glow from the holes in it).
Uther "Chaos Angel", Least of Jagganoth's Foreservants
It is possible to attain such a momentum that the only escape is through destruction. If one were to pursue that path themselves, alas, but if one were to be steered towards it… be wary. If the momentum cannot be contained the destruction, too, cannot be contained.

I was under the impression that an aeon “reincarnates” when the immortal flame that actually composes their body is mortally wounded, like how we saw with 23 Delicious when she seemed to die in the void and her body petrified. But it looks like White Chain was merely banished from her physical shell and returned as soon as possible
I could be wrong, though. My knowledge of aeons is mostly limited to their dreadful power, not their life cycle.
And while we’re on the topic, I’m suddenly unsure about how to pronounce angelic names. That is, are they addressed as “eighty-TWO” or “eighty-SECOND?”
Hmmm, 2 Michael first of the secondborn, Second Michael first of the secondborn. Gonna go with the numbers. Two Michael, Eighty-Two White Chain, Six Juggernaut.
Bwahaha the canon is making my randomly generated name better! But seriously angels astral bodies vs. physical armor is confusing me. is there a forum post or wiki page that would make it more sensical?
I’ll be honest, I’m STILL confused about the whole Thorn Knights, Metatron 1, 2 Micheal in the void, etc. etc. Stuff.
Can someone explain what is going on? I’ve been following the comic for a long time, but no matter how many times I re-read those panels, I just don’t get what the deal is with the Thorn Knights, Metatron, Micheal, and Jagganoth. I don’t get who’s on what side, and why. And what their goals are, and what 2 Micheal sent White Chain to accomplish, basically everything. I’m just flat out lost.
Okay so in the beginning there were all the Prime Angels serving YISUN and protecting Throne and everything was great. And Metatron was YISUN’s scribe and most trusted confidante, and he knew YISUN’s secret names, and was imbued with the Voice of YISUN himself, which speaks absolute truth. Everything was great. Then all the gods died off, but the Angels kept hanging around Throne, getting swoler and swoler and keeping everything nice and tidy in case the Gods came back one day or something.
Then Zoss came. He breached Throne, hoping to meet God, saw that God was dead, and said ‘well, then, I guess I’m God now’. And the Prime Angels said ‘oh no you fucking aren’t’ and so Zoss and the Prime Angels threw down. And Zoss kicked all of their asses. Of course, when you destroy an angel’s body, that doesn’t kill the angel; it just sends them back into the void. Zoss apparently thought that these fuckers hadn’t had enough, because he followed them into the void and killed their asses AGAIN. Of course, this didn’t really KILL them either, Angles can’t be killed, but it did put them to sleep for long millennia while they reincarnated into new forms.
Except for Metatron. Zoss kept Metatron alive, because he knew Metatron knew God’s secrets. He tortured Metatron, and forced from him YISUN’s secret names. With this knowledge, he forged the Key of the King of All Kings – the first magus gate, which would open all 777777 worlds of the multiverse. The most powerful weapon in the universe. As the other demiurges arrived, he parceled out the names of God into lesser keys, which each open only a single universe, but he kept the master key for himself.
But Metatron he left alive – crippled, but alive. And Metatron, crazed by pain and hatred, sought revenge. He looked to Throne, and saw Men corrupting it, staining the rivers of the gods with excrement and sex. He saw the breakdown of the law his brothers had defended for untold time. He saw the human masking and naming the devils, and bringing their hot black flame back into the corpse-city. And he hated it.
Seeing the ruin Men had brought upon sacred Throne, he sought to purge the multiverse of all life, to restore the purity and order that existed before Zoss breached throne and brought the rest of his kind with them. He lured lesser angels to him, and with the Voice of God indoctrinated them to his own genocidal way of thinking. He granted them power, and they became the Thorn Knights, dedicated to the purging of all life from Throne.
However, since then, Micheal emerged from the long sleep of reincarnation, the first (and thus far only) one of his brethren to do so. He saw what Metatron had done, and he was repulsed by it – mostly over how it wouldn’t work, but also, as an afterthought, morally. He conferred with Metatron, and persuaded him to take up a different plan.
Instead of genocide, Michael and Metatron would pursue the rise of a new king to replace Zoss and the demiurges. There was a prophecy that, as the demiurges waged war upon other another, Zoss would flee his throne and select an heir, KILL SIX BILLION DEMONS, to whom he would pass his power and title. This heir would strike down the seven remaining demiurges and become the new King of all creation.
Michael and Metatron planned not only to facilitate this prophecy, but also to bring this heir before Metatron, and indoctrinate him with the Voice of God into their way of thinking. They would become the power behind the throne; although the new King would rule the multiverse, they would control the new King. And as the King’s heir rises up to replace him, they will take control of him as well. They envision a neverending cycle of kings who rule with all the power of YISUN, controlled by angels, who speak with YISUN’s voice and rule according to YISUN’s law.
However, their servant 6 Juggernaut Star, who they sent to retrieve the Heir, was too hasty. In his hatred for Zoss, he struck too soon, killing Zoss and abducting Zaid – who the Thorns, like most of the Seven, believes to be the proper Heir – before the key of power could be transferred. He was then ambushed by Jagganoth as he passed through his territory, and lost Zaid himself to the Seven. The key was passed instead to Allison (who, frankly, was probably the intended heir all along, but that’s not yet 100% clear).
In order to clean up this mess, Micheal recruits White Chain, who (unlike the thorn knights) Allison will trust, to retrieve the key and bring it to Zaid, and so set the prophecy back on its intended course. Note that Allison is expendable; Michael does not order White Chain to kill her, but tells White Chain that her duty lies with the key, not its carrier.
As for Jagganoth, this isn’t clear yet. We know that he was visited in a dream by an angel of Yisun, who gave him a holy mission to destroy the multiverse and gave him a bunch of iron feathers that made him unstoppably powerful. It’s not totally clear which angel this was, or why they did this, although it seems likely to me that it was Metatron (or 6 Juggernaut Star acting on his behalf), and that Jagganoth is simply something Metatron set into motion during his genocidal phase. But that’s my own speculation, not established fact. Exactly what Jagganoth’s deal is hasn’t been made clear yet in the story.
You should not be named Peter.
I grant thee a title: 77 Sustained Vacuous History. So claims I. Make sense of what clings to the edge of void, there’s little sense to be had beyond it.
This cowardly one shall attempt to share what he can discern.
The original goal of Metatron, and those he seduced to the Path of Thorns, was to erase all life that had entered Throne (and possibly all life in the multiverse, as well) in order to restore Singularity. Effectively, a mission born out of a futile desire to revive YISUN, by destroying all that had been created from the act of division, returning the multiverse to its original state as a singular existence. It would also appear that he managed to bend Jagganoth to his will, by charging him with an allegedly holy mission to erase reality.
At a later point, however, the Angelic conspiracy was formed between Metatron, Michael, and the Thorn Knights. It appears that this was precipitated by Demiurge Jadis’ prophecy, predicts the destruction of the seven Demiurges at the hands of the Rising King, the one to whom Zoss will bequeath the first and most powerful Key of Kings. The Angelic conspiracy now seeks to harness this prophecy for their own benefit, by killing Zoss along with the Demiurges, and manipulating the new Rising King into becoming nothing more than a puppet under the Angels’ control, making them the true masters of Throne once more.
All this was disrupted by Juggernaut Star’s attempt to hasten things along, leading to the capture of the one supposedly destined to succeed Zoss, and the bestowal of the Master Key upon our heroine, Al-YISUN. The conspiracy of angels now seeks to reclaim the Key from her and set the prophecy back on track. To this end, they coerced White Chain into acting as a double agent, to gain Allison’s trust before betraying her to take back the Key.
Metatron was broken and whispered to the first thorn knights, 2 Michael learned of it and apparently discussed this with him, with both ending up on a path that they hope will bring God back, 6 Juggernaut is one of the elder thorns (not sure if the eldest, but at least an official speaker for the group) and working with M&M to cleanse Throne, Jagganoth was part of the 7-fold pact which kept a peace between the new gods but is now powerful enough that the pact may not hold for much longer, so White Chain has been sent to bring the Key and Heir to M&M so they can have a nice tea party with a side of murder and attempt to restore Throne to what it once was.
Also, my guesses for next page are one of these three:
A. 6 Juggernaut casually asks for some tea.
B. 6 Juggernaut leaps over and flenses the poor girl apart while White Chain watches in horror.
C. 6 Juggernaut starts to leap at her and White Chain gets in the way, to which 6 Juggernaut says they wanted some tea.
And though a truly badass angel hath returned,
So too hath my favorite character duo come to end
Mayhaps humans and devils are meant not for friendship
But in my eyes, angel and human are less so
Well, the thing is that humans have a lifespan just too damn short. It’s like, they’re your friends, you blink, and they’re gone to dust. Fcking annoying, I swear you!
I’m starting to wonder if Juggernaut Star is making a mess of things on purpose. Also, why wasn’t he riding his motorcycle when he first shows up and kills Zoss – had Abbadon simply not designed it yet?
Efficiently written information. It will be profitable to anybody who utilizes it, counting me. Keep up the good work. For certain I will review out more posts day in and day out.
Does a thorn choose to prick of its own volition, or is it simply their nature to do so?
Does a thorn prick because it is part of a greater blossoming whole, which must be protected until it can bear fruit, or does it function merely in the name of self-outward violence?
Does a thorn prick without the the willingness of the one pricked? perhaps possessing a rose is to commit self-violence-by-thorn?
Remember a thorn is designed for violence in protection of the blossom. Without outside interference it is no more violent then the branch it resides upon.
And So the thorn shall test the conviction of the faceless
Hmm. What good are thorns without the blossom?
They’d make a lovely scourge.
S…c…o…
No, I do not think I would enjoy being a scourge.
Is choice distinct from nature? It is in your nature to chose, and your nature informs your choices.
Pretty sure it’s his nature because he’s a prick.
I don’t know what they were thinking standing around in an open corridor without even trying to hide themselves. Angels may be badasses, but espionage doesn’t seem to be their thing at all.
When was the last time you saw an thousand year old engine of destruction housing the white flame try to hide? It is not so simple a task.
*you turn and see 6 Juggernaut standing behind a bush “hiding” with a single talon held before their face as if to say ‘shhh’ and decide you’re better off pretending you didn’t see anything*
Why should be the Law hidden? Espionnage is the way of the Black Hot Flame, not the White’s.
they’re cops, not spies
And what we are witnessing is the start of a hilarious buddy cop movie between White Chain and Juggernaut Star.
We’re about to see some first class conflict about how to handle the waitress.
The 6 Juggernaut, in disobedience? A worse omen is unlikely to be be found.
Either way, that servant is probably in some difficulty.
The Coldest of White Flames.
Born in Emptiness indeed. The eyes are a nice touch.
The concernment meter reaches MAXIMUM VELOCITY when angels show up to the party.
Depends – If you have an angel on your side, +1 for every angel for each one crashing, you don’t have a problem, you have a floor show!
The needle on that gauge could be used as a fan!
Oh that poor girl.
White Chain’s expression in the last panel can be accurately described as “my face when I have no face”.
Tfw you’ve got a hole that cannot be filled
It would seem this webcomic is all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time ^^
Dear Perceiver, you are so fucked right now.
Bentley: What is it, Major Lawrence, that attracts you personally to the desert?
Lawrence: It’s clean.
Potter: “Well what’s the trick then?”
Lawrence: “The trick, William Potter, is not minding.”
Incoming major fight? Love the eye motif. All-seeing beings. Welcome back to some semblance of reality, White Chain.
Some semblance of a narrow concept. White Chain is come back to make wrong choices hoping to get better results than repeating the same old ineffective choices. Aught we welcome one to pain?

Are you speaking about my rogue brothersisters? I believe they rejected the Law.

Though the Law is our flesh and our strength! I cannot fully understand how did Rogue Angels reject the Law.
*crack*
Yesssss.
Soon to be 7 Juggernaut Star if his boss finds out.

Oh Juggernaut Star; you’re incorrigible.
That moment when you realize you should have faked being sick and stayed in bed.
She wasn’t even supposed to be here today!
And just two week until retirement.
Well, they seem to be becoming part of the background.
In fact, usually smeared over quite a large area.
Mottom: “Darling. You Redecorated!”
33 Darling Redecorates Your Palace, Mottom’s personal Rogue Angel. I hate 33 Darling’s sense of fashion, though. I bet I could do a better job at redecorating this palace, in the purest Void’s fashion!
An angel in the service of Mottom that has only been incarnated 33 times? One would expect either much less… or infinitely more.
Oops.
Oh shit….
The eyes are open.
Wait, is that a tea service she’s carting around? She might survive this.
It is unfortunate for her that the armour of Juggernaught Star does not afford him a mouth with which to fully enjoy her offering.
So I am noticing that there is a lack of eyes in the sockets of white chain’s head. One assumes this is directly related with the recent removal of said angels human face however what is yet to be revealed is its significance.
I really adore the creak they don’t notice before the door opens.
Mostly because I didn’t notice it either!
Listening to the pulsing of a person’s meat is a surprisingly common fetish in the Throne, especially among those who do not occupy forms of flesh.
“Yes, you are weak.” Ouch. Those thorns on his body hurt not only the physical heart but the emotional as well.
It is bizarre, that one so pointy, and yet so blunt.
The radical honesty of the Aeons can be off putting to those of us used to being constantly bathed in the soft soothing caress of lies.
This is very true. Perhaps I should more frequently seek the company of angels in order to truly see through such fallacies and comprehend the truth fully.
Even where angels tread, room service delivers.
Well, that poor gal is more on the foreground compared to our protagonists here. That last panel is perfect by the way.

I’d been wondering whether White Chain would have visible eyes after ripping off his face! Interesting to see that his color change didn’t seem to last (judging by the blues/reds going into the body, and the blue glow from the holes in it).
Perhaps it was not so much a change as a dimming. A dim light source, compressed and concentrated, may still be bright.
It’s always embarrassing when you need to get a ride from an acquaintance, and then once they’ve dropped you off they refuse to leave.
It is possible to attain such a momentum that the only escape is through destruction. If one were to pursue that path themselves, alas, but if one were to be steered towards it… be wary. If the momentum cannot be contained the destruction, too, cannot be contained.
So if the number in front of an Angel’s name is the number of times they have reincarnated, does that mean they are 83 White Chain now?
Because if so, the page number is wonderful.
Although maybe this doesn’t count as a reincarnation…
As near as I can tell, being de-bodied isn’t a reincarnation. If White Chain had been beaten into stasis and petrefication and then returned, they would be 83 White Chain Words Words Birds
Delicious is undergoing reincarnation; White Chain was merely banished from her body.
This has happened to her twice in the comic so far.

Hmmm, 2 Michael first of the secondborn, Second Michael first of the secondborn. Gonna go with the numbers. Two Michael, Eighty-Two White Chain, Six Juggernaut.
Either way probably works depending on context, but that’s what I thought.
Further, I once heard a certain imbecile misquote a holy book he claimed to have read. I’d rather not repeat such an embarrassing mistake.
white chain must cover her nakedness with thorns!!
Quoth the angel’s standing at the door to the servant: “… have you heard the good news about YiSun?”
“Excuse me, miss, do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior YISUN?”
Bwahaha the canon is making my randomly generated name better! But seriously angels astral bodies vs. physical armor is confusing me. is there a forum post or wiki page that would make it more sensical?

Regicide should always be done on beast back. It’s polite.
Maybe it would have frightened the other rider’s horses.
She isn’t in that much trouble. They just REALLY need cup of coffee after that trip.
So, only if she gets in their way…or she doesn’t have any creamer…
Ooops! Wrong turn!
