Wielder of Names 4-60 (Palace of Radiance)
Chapter: 4
“And there they sat, and basked a while, and though their hearts were gay and their spirits high, in their deepest place there crouched a cold and lingering terror, for they knew that the warmth of that light they enjoyed was not the nurturing light of a summer day, but the awful radiance of Glory.”
The guests of the Palace of Radiance are serving up high fashion fish tonoight, henny. Couldn’t clock a mug on a one of them. Flawless. Still, I wonder what Miss Mottom has in store for the children. That old qween is always beat for the gawds.
Wait, when did the get transported up to the palace? I must’ve missed that part. Or are they still on the ground?
Indo-Franco-Florence looks pretty amazing, though.
Don’t forget the Japanese touch !
Ah yes the palace, that most impotent tool of the monarch where all the troublesome yet intelligent peoples of the realm can be contained in golden razor wire.
The Wiki is officially under new management by the way.
Yay \o/
And I’m part of tha team !
My fellows, a most interesting thought has occurred to me.
What if Allision, is herself an incarnation of Aesma come to retread her last life’s old paths?
The universe, at it’s heart is a tale told by YISUN, and one can always insert oneself into one’s stories. YISUN did in the times of the gods, and so too did Het once travel on the old road.
But as to why? Why, take up the mantle of Allison Ruth? Beyond her ambition, greed, and self sufficiency, Aesma is also is also the ruler of regret.
And what might regret make one wish to do but change: By living as someone utterly contrary to who she used to be, maybe she hoped she might change: Her beautiful face, once a hideous symbol of weakness, now defined her, living as a worker in a coffee shop and working out in order to appease the ideals of others when once the idea of her being a demure maid would be all but inconceivable.
And yet as Allison that life was ultimately hollow and empty to her, because in her heart of heats it is not her nature. And so when an opportunity came, she took it.
For if regret might make one change, it would also drive one to travel down old roads, taking different actions for the hope of different results. To learn the lessons as Allison she never did as Aesma: The shape of the world, the universal languages, the existence of truth. Likewise to do the deeds she did as Aesma, once more, but wiser.
As for the old roads Allison follows?
Already, she has forged a black flame, improperly and without knowledge of what she was doing. Perhaps she shall do so again, but grander and with proper knowledge.
Even now she stands on an edifice built the rumored ruins of the palace of the master of aesthetics. Perhaps Mottom will prove a teacher to her there, before she is slain.
Perhaps yet she shall find one who can teach the shape of the universe. It was recently revealed that Jadis at least knows.
And as for the master of ethics, she may well meet with the original: The master himself says: “I was born immaculately from the lotus that sprang from YISUN’s right eye” which one might take as a description of an angel, born from the flame of UN’s eye, and what angel might one expect to see at the speaking hall of YISUN, but the God’s scribe: Metatron.
I’ve never really been comfortable with this kind of opulence. How many lives were used to mortar those gilded walls?
Literally or figuratively?
I think he means figuratively but with this being the palace of a god and made from materials most beings have no names it would probably be a safe guarantee that the architect contains the remains of dead slaves. The beautiful colors could be the made from the blood and the palace and or ground could be made from the ground and dried bones of people mottom ate.
Both, really. I doubt someone like Mottom is one to talk out her disagreements, and the remains of the unfortunate have been buried in far lesser monuments.
Predation begets strength, such is the way of the living.
Truly, the greatest Glutton, the greatest Predator would wield one of the greatest strengths and most opulent of holdings
Yeah, so apparently I’m the first to notice, or at the very least the first to comment on this. But there is an extremely suspicious looking character in the back left (possibly a golden masked devil) and I feel that at some point this will have signifigance
I did notice, but sometimes one must remain silent in order to speak the truth
*Sets off immediately to woo and/or charm the fine four armed mistress in white towards the front. This may be a vacuous decision on his part*
Well of course it’ll be pretty on the outside. Heck, it’ll be pretty on the inside too.
Even evil has aesthetics.
It almost looks pleasant there.
It does seem Allison’s trip up here wasn’t entirely without incident.
The splendor of Glory blinds only those who bask in its radiance. Those who hold a hand to shield their eyes can see the truth.
So many are quick to assume that light is always benevolent, so quick to forget that what illuminates can blind, and they do not stop to think of the welcome respite a spot of shade beneath a tree provides the traveller.
I want one.
Where can I get one?
I will take the best care of it. Of that you can be sure.
I must have one.
Someone’s nouveau Rich.
the Palace of Gradients
Holy… you weren’t kidding, this is impressive. The depth and detail!
The little hairy chap to the right of the two Kindly ones – surely he is the gentleman who gave Tristran the babylon candle?
Fantastically glorious. A pleasure to be here.
I see no children here.
I know what it is you are attempting to imply and your point does make sense but that I can not say I totally agree with you.
You see, there might be some issues when it comes to
the issues you have mentioned. But I love the time you invested in explaining your
view. I’m interested in this subject and will surely dig deeper
into the problem.
“The key to nobility is a spectacular hat”? You learned that from Seuss’ “The 500 Hats of Bartholemew Cubbins”, didn’t you?
