Does Allison control/compel gog-agog now? Sorry, I wasn’t sure what’s going on there. Allison’s voice change means that she’s taken over gog-agog, or taken on some aspect of the worm?
Good biscuits and gravy I adore this story. I doubt the author reads all the comments but seriously good job you, well done. One day I’ll buy all the graphic novels.
as I understand it, since Gog tried to assimilate Allison, but kinda failed; Allison *is* a part of Gog, but she retains her personhood and sense of self. And what Allison is doing here is Caring. A lot. Thus forcing Gog to genuinely care, a lot. since they’re attached. And that’s something it probably hasn’t done in eons.
so, getting the worm to stop being nihilistic, lazy, and kinda mean; and Actually Fight.

44 ivory key witnesses the absolution of the innocent
It occurs to me that the Worm has assimilated… well… everyone.
Many. Many. Many times.
I wonder how many countless quadrillions of soldiers and generals and warriors and mothers and saints just remembered what is was they were once fighting for?
Gog can’t assimilate Allison like she has everything else, because Gog doesn’t actually care about anything. She’s the ultimate nihilist, to an insane degree.
But Allison is still part of Gog now, and Allison has chosen the path of suffering. Her willpower is literally infinitely greater than Gogs ever will be.
So when Allison decides Gog will do something, Gog will do it. Gog herself is only starting to realize that she doesn’t really have any control here.

A certain degree of aloofness and apathy come part and parcel with being a god or god adjacent. The problem is that it tends to become too comfortable. You start to not care about the little things and the big things because not giving a damn is easy and who is going to make you care? So being made to care can be scary but sometimes it is needed.
a lovely and welcomed surprise on another cycle round the Sun.
Become as Vajra friends, annihilate all senses and wrest another day from the jaws of apathy. the humble noodle vendor has taught you as such.
Reach Heaven Through Violence, Eternally.
“Hers is the path of mutilation, pray for the God of suffering for she is never more at home than surrounded by pain and loss, pray she never finds her place and come to her throne lest ye want to find that her court is inhabited only by ghosts and weeping”
I love that Gog’s demurigic sin is envy, her entire existence is spent consuming everything and everyone and she both resents and wants to be the kind of person with the grit to try and change the unchangeable that kings are, and her ultimate punishment that she’s become part of Allison, the successor the entire multiverse is revolving around.
She’s got the voice of the the hero of the story that she always wanted to be in her head, and now she’s forced to care instead of comfortably heckling from the sidelines.
Of all the takes I’ve read on this, yours is the most correct and reflective of the icons the story revolves around.
“And now she’s forced to care instead of comfortably heckling from the sidelines.” is dead-on. That’s been her role through the entire story, over and over again, for nearly every other peer.
And she’s pretty exceptionally good at it. So being forced to care is one of the greatest triumphs of Royalty shown in the comic — in a lot of ways, this is *much* bigger than refusing to be cut by the Maybe Sword. This is Allison enforcing her will upon another whole-ass demiurge.
Odin gave his eye for the wisdom of the world, and in her left hand she carries the hammer that brings thunder, and she lost an arm to the beast that will destroy the world.

I love the subversion of “Why try if it doesn’t matter?” to “Why NOT try if it doesn’t matter?”
It’s the only real answer to any question. “Because I will it so”.
Ah, tis the bloody No-Eye. Yes, yes. Fierce, the stare of the No-Eye.
Quite.
It disturbs to see.
me twelve years ago, goofing around: “oh, worm?”
me now, hollowed out, gone through the grinder, the world ablaze, my soul bare: “oh, worm?”
Tee hees :3

Gogy don’t leave don’t listen to Allison come back, you are the best thing of this arc!
Oh turns out she can’t leave even if she wanted!
The Clown has been Activated
