WHEEL SMASHING LORD 3-74 to 3-75
Chapter: 3
“The kings of old could move mountains by lifting a finger. The kings of yesterday can crack a boulder with the backside of a hand. The kings of today can scarcely move a pebble. I shudder to think of the kings of tomorrow.”
-Olov, Lunar Monarchist
So, like…if White Chain is effectively only thirty-five for this incarnation…
…inquiring minds want to know…
Do newly reincarnated angels come out as CHERUBS?
Did White Chain reincarnate as a chubby squishy fluffy thing with wings and too many eyes??!!?!
(More importantly, does she have the full 35 years as an adult, mentally, putting her at, oh, roughly the same as a 55ish-old-human, or does she go through a child-like-angel phase, so she’s only about 10ish years wiser than Allison because the first 20 went to figuring out the whole “how to be alive in this incarnation” thing?)
…is Metatron a cherub because he’s half-reincarnated? Half alive, half dead?
The Other Angel General came out fully formed into this incarnation.
35 years? I’m confused. White Chain was killed and came back within the story of this comic and that was less than 35 years ago. Was that not a reincarnation?
No, that was a banishment. Destruction or disruption of an angel’s stone body will send em back to the void, but they’re still alive and the same person. If they get killed for real then they’ll start to regenerate within the void, which takes a very long time and they come back with a somewhat different personality, hence the number incrementing. That mostly happens if someone goes into the void and manually kills them a second time.
White chain was *banished* but did not lose her form and need to reform. Consider the fate of Delicious, who’s form was destroyed.
I LOVE the little hints of Solomon’s pride sprinkled throughout this. He could have simply said “about two minutes,” but felt the need to specify he once could have done it forever.
The man has indeed learned much in the ways of humility these past 3 years, but he’ll never lose that spark of pride that defines him.
This whole little monster-of-the-week miniarc seems bizarre to me, giving the scale of the plot we’re at. How is that thing even anyone’s concern?
They need a cool target for White Chain to overcome, that she can only overcome by accepting the power of the key. It’s framing.
also, i bet abbadon wanted to draw a cool fish.
We still don’t know what the connection to the big fish on top of Gog-Agog’s circus tent. We been watching this story too long to believe in coincidence.
White Chain has always been a strong fighter but nowhere near overwhelmingly powerful. Fish could probably beat her before she learned Ki Rata. Solomons working with like 1/4th of a liver or something, so it shows how far he’s fallen. The fish works to show Solomon’s changes and adds chaos to help Solomon and White Chain resolve the conflict of their ideologies and develop both as characters. Seems fine to me.
Slow down and stop thinking in terms of “power level” and “scale.”
Instead consider what narrative purpose this scene holds. This fish is a vehicle for important, highly relevant developments.
Abbadon doesn’t expect you to ask “how will they survive this?” Instead, he wants you wonder “How will White Chain overcome the struggles this fish represents?”
It’s reading comprehension 101 if I’m being honest, but you asked, so there’s your answer!
I mean, don’t sell the fish short, it IS a whole-ass god. It’s not as strong as jagganoth, but who is?
Wtf are you smoking.
Sounds like “Olov, Lunar Monarchist” never heard of stack underflow.
White Chain must now summon the biggest slice of lemon the universe has ever seen, and get to work.
This page has so many levels of badassery going on.
It is time.. for the Might Be sword
Huzzah! Salami Dave still has some mojo woikin’!
OK, his internal organs will shortly turn to mush, but it’s still really cool to see him throw down (for possibly one last time). My guess is he doesn’t really care if he lives or dies. He’s been alive for soooo long. He’s tired.
Can he do something resembling a Vulcan Mind Meld to impart to White Chain the way of Ki Rata? Not a lot of time and he’s breaking down with each passing second…
Or is the key formerly known as Salami Dave’s that’s in her forehead infused with such knowledge, and she must activate it via acceptance?
White Chain has, up to this point, refused to accept the power of it, and was trying to somehow hold everything back home together by…I dunno…diplomacy? She seemed to make her role that of an administrator rather than a warrior, which by all appearances wasn’t working very well.
I mean, let’s face it, she’s a warrior, through and through. Now she’s experiencing what all of the ancient texts refer to as “a situation”*, in which she can no longer deny her true self AND will be forced to tap into the incredible badassery that is implanted in her forehead.
*(some texts translate situation as “shit show” and/or “clusterfuck”)
It’s a classic Hero’s (or Heroine’s) Journey! She has to claim the mantle, pull the sword from the stone, play Ender’s game, ride the Sandworm, embrace her destiny.
She’s at that critical “I don’t care what Mom said, I’m gonna use my Powers!” juncture.
In her case, in order to fricassee the fish! I don’t know how it will manifest, but I know it’s going to be pretty freaking epic.
Fish sticks for dinner, kids!
You knew the God of the Lake…??
I DID NOT SAY I KNEW HIM I SAID HE TOUCHED ME ON THE SHOULDER ONCE!!
Midlife crisis? Wow!
Also the CAPSULE COMPUTER COMPANY is having elections in honor of its 40th birthday. They appear to actually want your input and may be seeking to draw people to a certain cause thought lost.
I still try to unsee the Salami Hammock.
Okay but come on, this is just a cool page right, we can all agree on that?
THEN TEACH THE NEW BLOOD THE OLD WAYS, FOOL
This quote from Olov, the Lunar Monarchist, offers a thought-provoking reflection on the perceived decline of power and influence among kings over time. It invites contemplation about the trajectory of leadership and authority, leaving us to ponder the implications for the future.
The game’s graphics are vibrant and cartoonish, appealing to a wide range of age groups. Its smooth animations and detailed backgrounds contribute to an immersive gaming experience.
Thirty-five years? That’s a rather specific number, one we have heard before.
Thanks for sharing.
I really love this story thanks for sharing.
