There’s something so immediately, viscerally gut wrenching about seeing children in such a terrified state. God only knows what would’ve happened if she staggered with that sword due to her injuries.
I would fear that these are the personal servants of the Dragon. Innocent only in that they live like pearls adorned upon a queen: pure and white baubles, forever at the whims and mercy of one who is inevitably fickle.
Children are infinitely malleable, and wholey non individual. Their every action is but one they have been told they can or cannot do. those two choices [do what i am allowed, do what i am not allowed] are all they can have. until the age they can attempt to grasp things their predecessors did not tell them, but then they are no longer innocent children.
These priests seem considerably less fighty and crazy than the ones in the maze. I suppose we’ll see how they react to a sudden outsider.
…Or if they can even comprehend such a thing as an outsider.
Here’s hoping we’ll not get into the fighty business just yet. Talking with the dragon is always a rewarding endeavor.
To account the dragon will call.
Marching through the gilded hall.
Does he count each coin which falls?
YES, now count them again, and do not bawl!
From his count never to be torn.
Marching over old saints lorn.
Does he count each soul there born?
YES, now counting them out, and abandoned in scorn!
These lives are all within his tome.
Marching in our only home.
Does he count each rotten bone?
YES, now counted out, and kept in Throne!
I hoped the town in the distance belonged to the most sacred caste of priests, the ones that live and die in the vault, their existence serving only to attempt to count the dragons hoard.
And where they step with covered eyes
before the world’s most famous spy
the battle parts. One arrow flies.

They come to bear tribute, to temper the dragon’s fury, lest he consume their worlds.
This seems it would be a far easier way to gain entrance if such the case.
An innocent child,
Is not worthy opponent,
Damn it Allison!
Who said they were innocent? Evert single kindergarten teacher deeply dreads the day the little monsters finally organize.

Dress her wounds in fine silk. Let it soak with the fragrances of a dozen stigmata. Bring the bandages to Lord Mammon, and burn them in a censer.
Send lawyers, guns and money, coz the shit has hit the fan.
Cio, get me outta this!
IA! IA! To kill a dragon ye must overcome your own
IA! IA! To slay a dragon you must slay your own
And that’s why KSBD needs COMMUNISM! Down with dragons that Scrooge-McDuck swim in the gold! Down with the rich who use the poor as viagra pills!
By the coinflippers of Carthage. Did she just attack a child?
No. She ALMOST attacked a child. Then she saw it was a child, and didn’t.
Blessed be those who live among dragons.
I like how those kids looke like they’ve literally never seen the light of day.
to hell with
the sun
They probably haven’t, but also bear in mind that what you’re seeing is white face paint, not their actual complexion.

The High Caste are born in the Vault…
And within the Vault must they die.
They are truly holy creatures.
hey, don’t cut the line.
Those poor traumatized children.
Definitely getting 40k Ecclesiarchy vibes from some of those nuns, though, especially the one with the book-collar.
A congregation! OF COURSE!
The priests spend their entire lives within the vault. You’d have to have an entire society within, otherwise they’d die out within a generation!
…oh no, the children are crying!
Start with the kids, finish with the Dragon.
Works for me.
Best way to farm xp and level smartly. Kill weaker things first, then proceed to the bigger and meaner ones.
Anakin likes this.

that alt-text is so gratifiying
Well, that is an unexpected encounter bound to complicate things.
Even the most battle-hardened girl from LA will pause when they make a child cry.
“Pree Allison, there are too many of them. What are we going to do?”

this is where the fun begins
