Seeker of Thrones 8-92
Chapter: 8
“IA! IA! The Dragon!
His scales as as hard as his heart.
Pity him!”
– Lament of the Priests of the Count

Someone’s about to get a faceful of cat.
Cat > Mammon’s entire dungeon
And not in the Fun Way…
It appears to be a priest, but wears a piece of silver instead of a number.
But this one bears one of the Hundredweight of Silver, so there is a hard limit to their number.
the number
lies in the
holy alttext
OH SNAP!
She’s The Pimping Pontiff of Coins herself!
Not just any bit of silver it seems, but one of the pieces that paid for the death of her God’s insipid clan. Given how keen the Priest Clerks are on that bit of slaughter, such coinage would be an Important and Valuable relic, would it not?
And she wears it in place of a Number.
The Heist Crew is in for an Interesting fight…
That’s a really big halo…
0 0 0 0 0 1
i notice that this high-ranking priest is adorned with the universal symbol of Cash Money, while another presumably lower-ranked priest on page 7-87 is marked with mere cents, and still others have no such symbols at all. evidently mammon is only a little more subtle than our buddy oscar when it comes to his uniform choices
Nice catch.
If the comic thing doesn’t work out, Abbadon can have a second career as a fashion designer.
🙂
I’ll also note that this priest has her own halo. In other words, an Emissary.
It is not the lack of subtlety, but an adherence to the power of Symbols. Sigils are potent instruments of magic, when properly charged. Entire worlds have been exterminated, in order to endow Sigils with the power of blood and death.
It’s no surprise, then, that the God of Dosh would adorn his priests with the symbol of money. Symbols that are used and recognized widely have greater magical…currency.
MIDBOSS ENCOUNTER!
Priest of the Count:
000001
*Uptempo battle music plays*
To think that the priest has a sillier accent than informal devil-speak.
What meanest thou by thine insulting comunications? Mind thy tongue lest the curse of thine elders fall upon thee unawares.
And as kidneys clean the blood
So the house’s servants should
Chew the bad and spit the good
Power. In thy heart.
Dragons in a world many cycles away from the Red City of Throne are called fire made flesh. Mammon’s greed is certainly a fire that has boiled into a bubbling, rotting pit; a massive cesspool of ill nostalgia and material wealth.
Mammon is not fire made flesh. Mammon is sand made flesh; he has no family, for they were buried long ago – no future, for he wastes away in disgustingly ostentatious luxury. He stands in a desert of wealth and greed that has engulfed his mind. His presence is far reaching yet unseen, violent and pitiful.
You speak truth!
IA! IA!
i don’t like sand. it’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
…I don’t see any dead cats. How are they finding the traps and then marking them?
Hmm… Us cats are just that good 😉 Oh hey, watch yer step there…
What use have cats for traps, or for death? They find it much more convenient to stay alive.
I don’t need to hear sermon about love from a guy (?) wearing dollar signs, thank you.
Hrmm… but at least you know what you are dealing with up front. It’s guys preaching love that hide their dollar signs that bother me the most.
Well, you have a pretty damn good point there.
Incoming sword in a face from Allison in 3… 2… 1…
Oh good, Mammon has sent entertainment.
This priest is about to learn what happens when you attempt to fight YABALCHOATH.
Praise her return.
Hail YABALCHOATH
RP says Allison, but you say YABALCHOATH.
Taking bets!
Who last hits this one?
Alice 4:3
Cio 4:3
Cat Master 3:1
Oscar 3:2
Charon 2:1
Xand: 2:1
Nxor: 2:1
No Dragon Bank notes accepted.
Know what, I’m betting Princess with a handful of those explosives.
I’ll pay 3 handfuls of explosives to your one.
This One thinks that the Priests of the Count are the Grand Dragon’s servants and minders both. This One thinks the Grand Dragon, Scaled God of the Deeps, went mad quite long before his peers did. This one is a hopeless speculator and eater of luck.
I’ll admit, the master painter has been more useful than I anticipated, he certainly knows how to put those skills to good use!
Finally.
Let’s see some bloodshed I can drink to!
blood and bones, sweat and tears, love and memory are the original payments made for success, achievement, and power.
by what authority do these use the symbol?
Nice halo, ebon.
I’d be a shame if something happened to it.
’tis not ebon
Hard hearts is what Throne is made of, do not pity us.
I do wonder: is she (or he?) wrong?
The quicker one to draw prevails
every life is sacred… to someone.

YOU’LL NEVER KNOW WHO IS GOING TO AVENGE YOU
The Manager, With Whom The Customer Would Speak.
I do wonder, whether or not this priestess before us is the same individual seen at the Concordance of the Seven, and as such, she would be the true ruler of the Grand Dragon’s vast and ornate empire. However, I could just as well be wrong! Either way, I foresee a magnificent performance occurring in my immediate future. And mayhaps my Queen of Worms would like to watch as well for she is fond of all things entertaining, and she bores quite easily!
Mama always did say a good ol expurgation’s just what we need to feel love again.
