Princess. Hero. These are but labels. Roles that actors play out by rote. All the worlds a stage, but Allison fell onto stage when the floor gave out in the apartment above the theater. She doesn’t have any lines. She doesn’t know the plot. And yet the show must go on.
If I may switch metaphors, she is the stone in the stream. It wears at her, slowly changing her. Her effect on it is far more dramatic; she forces the flow to wrap around her simply by existing.
Now? Now she is standing up and declaring her purpose in the play. Now the stone is becoming a dam, directing the flow to an intended purpose. Now things really get interesting.
This comic makes me so happy, this page is great to see Allison a little more than terrified or confused for the very first time. Her emotions are illustrated beautifully.
I sure hope Cio is going to be our constant companion from here on out. I know it’s still early days of our acquaintance, but I would already place her in the top ten greatest webcomic characters of all time.
In the words of a prophet of worlds which (purely by coincidence) were unreal: Alison is moved today by a complex machine ,of whose purpose we are ignorant, but in whose design we can intuit an immortal intelligence.
I judge it likely that Cio would be able to maintain a continuous stream of ways to call someone stupid, without repeating herself or actually using the word ‘stupid’, for at least twenty minutes. It is fortunate she has such a talent, as Allison appears to respond fairly well to negative reinforcement.
Knight of the Golden Feather, we must hold back! I wish not to be caught in the cross-fire and mistaken for foe when I am friend! Wait a moment while we retire to a more advantageous position.
Speak not in falsehoods and half truths! the time has come to flee! One angel is more than enough, and even I, most courageous of my cowardly order, will quake at two!
Alison, kneeling in the eye of the hurricane can not but have a moment of clarity. Perhaps, an insight about true necessity? Perhaps, she sees that what other’s can’t? Doubtless, the moment will pass to be swallowed up again in need, want, and must.
PS: I haven’t been this mind-blown by a comic since I read (more like watched) Mobius’ “Airtight Garage” as a kid (followed by the original Inkal series with Jodorowsky). And, the story crowd-sourcing is astonishing!
I love daemonic Ganesh’s death by paper-cut.
I wonder that more of the baddies are not throwing hard objects like rocks into the whirling defense, or just extending long, cutting instruments into them.

I partially saw this coming. Though it’s interesting to see it confirmed.
That’s one hell of a papercut.
It’s also the weirdest paper weapon I’ve ever seen. Two awesome things, one awesome price.
Did she pluck the needle or did it fly into her fingers?
Do we choose our own destiny?

I always enjoy a good bit of bloodletting. This is new, though.
Papercuts all ’round!

And the first deed has been done
Honestly dude, I think elephant guy was done on the first pass.
Hey, you never know!
Pree Allison wields now her first weapon, courtesy of this ‘Delicious’.
Now, let the true violence begin.
Ah, but is the angel getting out or getting in?
And now, behold the power of the barista to wake the sleepers!
‘Always brew coffee before breaking fast.’

I fear that perhaps dear Clio may in time run dry of scathing comments and cutting wit. Mayhaps not, of course.

I think I see that double-crossguard greatsword that Allison was holding back on one of the chapter covers here.
I anticipate the enlightened pursuit of violence. Yisun be praised.

You say true, Speaker. We will await our moment.

I wonder if the needle can be reused.

is that the Zweihander we saw her wield in the art from a previous page?

I like blue demon lady.
I am unreasonably angry at Allison’s hesitance in pulling a needle
