King of Swords 9-95
Chapter: 9
“I cannot remember my home,” said Yaun.
“We will beat it out of you eventually,” they said plainly, “Every trace.”

What a winning smile, Princess
OMG! Princess has eye for abs! YIKES!
Princess has at least twelve eyes that are not covered by clothing.
*sigh* It seems I’ll be the one to go there after all…
AND WHERE DOES SHE HAVE THE OTHER EYES, EY? WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE
Don’t you dare judge me.
TOP
Agreed
A label for both garment and wearer at once. How efficient.
I bet she is!
Finally alice does some violence for heaven
Despite all common sense explaining why it shouldn’t, the plan is working.
Said every DM ever.
Loyalty is not bothered by trifles like “does this have any chance of working”. Loyalty only does.
If that’s how you feel then I’m not surprised ‘extinction’ is a part of your name.
misread that as bald beagle
Yes, it is an unfortunate mix-up, commonly made.
So a jailbreak it is!
So it might seem, but I didn’t get the feeling that Zaid was being kept in a cell, more like a locked suite.
Perhaps, but the point is most likely to gain access to the more secure areas, which is where Zaid is going to be.
Okay but what if this guy is also some schmuck impersonating a guard too?
That dude is an imposter too. He(?) is clearly not a Solomon-relative.
Plus body language showing uncertainty, and lots of fear-sweat….
This is 110% what is happening, I guarantee it
I thought it was Zaid trying to escape until I went back and checked what Zaid actually looks like.
Glad we’re all on the same page.
What if there’s no guards at all; all of them just impersonating guards, thinking the others are the real ones – an eternally self-perpetuating hoax …
Isn’t that just how societies work in general?
According to YISUN, that’s exactly what’s going on.
Alright, Princess I’ve heard of some mortals labeling their shoes ‘left’ and ‘right,’ but if your pants are marked ‘bottom’ I’m not going to know what to think…
Oh my sweet summer child.
They wouldn’t have added a zipper to my pants if I wasn’t meant to be able to wear it as a makeshift shirt.
“TOP” isn’t referring to the shirt, it’s referring to her.
Good grief, people, I _know_.
But it’s _MUCH FUNNIER_ to think about it as ‘this is to remember which garment goes on which end.’
(Besides which, given Princess’s previous performance with Allison and actively warning Oscar to not try her, I have _grave doubts_ as to the truth of your interpretation!)
Haha, this was my first thought as well.
There could be another definition of “top” that’s in use here, but I don’t think I can say more without getting really NSFW.
The last panel is insane, and exactly why I keep coming back. Empty Palm Trashes Demon With Blue Gums!
Looks like White Chain was right. The apprentice is dealing with it.
One gianormous demon. Dealt with.
Where my lesbians at
*waves*
Initially I guessed the guard indulged in licuor himself and thus tries to hide it. But you guys above seem correct, apparantly that’s a third imposter. *Arthur Machen joke* Which convolutes events quite interestingly indeed.
One the whole: ADORABLE
Some have suggested it is the Chesterton joke instead.
I see the roll to Intimidate was more succesful than the roll to Bluff. It will work next time
“What was noise?”
“YOU DO NOT SEE GROGG!”
“I SAW NOTHING!”
What episode is that from? A search on Critical Role Transcript shows nothing.
It’s a reddit dnd story thingie about an Orc Rogue with all his points in Intimidate instead of Stealth.
Sufficient BEEF can substitute for all other classes and attributes. See also: Muscle Wizard.
This is hilarious 😀
It was Praman Naast that is credited with saying “The Wheel is radiant, and the connection of all is co-equal, spokes returning us all to Yis-Un. There should be no hierarchy.” An…unusual meditation on the relations between us, but obvious heresy, of course, hence his dismemberment.
The wheel is no flat circle, and we are not all co-equal. We have those above, and those below, and only our own wills to hold us in our place. That is the wisdom in Praman Naast’s words: contemplation of their wrongness.
Which is to say, after careful contemplation, I recognize that Princess appears to be quite decidedly above me in the order of things at the moment.
There’s a bridge not far from me
that one day fell into the sea.
The locals love the slivery teh.
Given the orange ‘mask’, I wonder if that guy is actually a servant and not a devil. Though I guess it’s always possible that it simply could be a heavily painted mask since Princess has bits of blue on hers. We haven’t seen any devils with masks painted to that extreme though.
If the idea is that these matches will swiftly increase Allison’s abilities, then it’s working – that last attack is a clustersquelch! But whose idea is it? Gog Agog’s? White Chain’s? Abbadon’s? All three?!!
Think she got that one from Chun Li.
Hang on… Isn’t that Zaid?
He has darker (and different) hair, a darker complexion, and a scraggly beard, so, no.
Nyave definitely lucked out on that “Class Six Offense” bit…although perhaps one could call it an educated guess on her part, given her high education in the Arts of Paperwork on her homeworld. Official offenses go up to 33 in the Arena district of Solomon’s capital, and they’re very strict about public drunkenesss, so Class Six is actually pretty darn lenient, but not so small that this guy would get really suspicious (he just feels a bit superior to her in moral judgement).
I feel like this person is also impersonating a guard/security officer, hahahhaha
This is great 😂
That, or he’s too embarrassed to admit he hasn’t read up on the last revision of the regs.
I am of the opinion that he sees through the ruse and is playing along to get them all to the heavily guarded cells where there is plenty of backup.
We shall see.
That was my first impression, but having reviewed some of the arguments above, I think he is also a fake guard.
Perhaps he can’t remember the classification system either.
This sequence of events continues at a brisk pace! My private gilded K6BD terminal can barely handle it, and neither can my newly upgraded orichalcum heart-turbine handle the excitement! Allison is doing so well… it’s a good thing I bet on her as well under my old alias Qoubes Blraco! Now I can be the winner no matter which main character emerges victorious!
“LOOK ! A TIGER !”
A Break-IN plan divined

One rippling muscular tank,
One svelte brainiac to assume rank,
One thief to maneuver and flank,

An amusing chant in our village goes like this:
Sing us a tunely-tune, mister guard, if you will
While you take us back to our cell
It has been quite a while, since you punished our guile
We know, and you do just as well
I always found it funny, and I do wonder, is it fitting here? Hmm?
Some folks here do seem to think so! But perhaps the more fitting one is the short:
Oh please great devil, excuse our upheaval!
Perhaps, perhaps!
My carefully honed sense of danger tells me that there is definitely a critical flaw to their plan and that the official is merely playing along to lead them into a trap.
The fact that all of the officials seem to be clones of each other and she doesn’t look like one of them is pretty clear givaway (while having a devil henchman/henchwoman, while solomon seems to favor humans exclusively is another)
Am I the only one who thinks that the new guy is also someone trying to BS their way in with a shady story and a stolen uniform?
Nope, he’s acting a little odd to me too, what with the nervous sweat, and a few others have noted that he seems to be acting odd too.
I don’t understand why people assume he is an imposter. That’s someone not falling for the bluff but seeing a colleague passed out in a demon’s arm. He does not want to see their “plan B”. He is bringing them to a place where he will have backup.
