I wonder if that’s the sequence of the ways in which White Chain is disappointed in Allison.
By doing this without permission, Allison has blown any plans that White Chain had to deal with Preem Vash for good.
Because by making a move and failing, then Vash will disappear again, and White Chain will have to track them down yet again.
By her sloppy form, it brings shame on Allison as a student, and White Chain as a teacher.
By disrespecting the holy empty palms, Allison disrespects the Law which the palms are meant to uphold, and the gods who made those laws. This is, to an angel, the most abhorrent offence.
By going in alone, Allison risks her own life for the sake of pride. Whether she wants it or not, she has a duty to keep herself alive so she may eventually kill the beast and restore the law to creation. Risking her life so foolishly is an abandonment of duty, which is bad, but not as bad as reviling against the Law.
Not asking for permission is simply an offense against White Chain, a single angel. While such things would still be enough to expel (or kill) most students of angels, it is a relatively small offense in comparison to the others.
“Lead your flock to water, and bleed them dry while they thank you. Build power this way, and no one will call your conqueror. You will be called saint.”
Her regular head folds out into that, but it hasn’t done it for quite a while. I don’t think she’s even been wearing the top half of her head for a while; I wonder where she keeps it?
If that’s how White Chain has been acting all through their training, I can imagine Alison got fed up with it and decided to try something for herself.

This is why we’re not missing anything in the time warp, Allison has apparently been a slow learner (or not amazingly fast enough of a learner to get somewhere in a year) so we skipped ahead to where the training is still happening but we’re just shy of a breakthrough.
To be fair, she started off with no combat training and practically no experience. One doesn’t become a master or even an expert in anything but the most trivial tasks in a year. Angelic martial arts and wielding the power of God are hardly trivial tasks. Also, while I’m sure White Chain has done their best teaching its self is a skill, one I doubt they had a good grip on to start with.
I’ve studied martial arts for 41 years and in that time, I’ve had teachers like this. I don’t like them, and I don’t think it’s a particularly effective way of learning (unless one is a masochist, I suppose…). My current teacher *has* pushed me to the point of mindless rage, but he was trying to make that happen, to make me see something I was missing. Mostly, one trains in the vague hope of being able to “beat the sifu”.. hasn’t happened yet, but I’m making him work harder to keep me off!
With that out of the way, may I say I’m adoring the descriptions of the myriad styles? I read a *LOT* of webcomics, I patreon very few. You make me wish I could afford to give more. You rarely phone in a page.

Allison
I know this world is killing you
Oh Allison
My aim is true
[boot to the head]
“From the way you look I understand that you are not impressed,” says Alison to White Chain.
…that is so perfect. This is exactly why I come to the comment section.
God will people stop bitching about allison being overpowered now, in this literal city of gods
You gotta break before you get broken (power-wise)
Also she’s the protagonist

I’d argue the opposite:

Interesting. Thanks !
As a man who already feels like a complete buffoon every second, it feels like a fair trade to train under an angel.

I really, really like White Chain’s new hat.
It’s the hat they were wearing when they first appeared, isn’t it ?
So, not new, just, they haven’t worn it for a long time. Maybe putting on the hat again has some significance ?
You’re right! Just for those first four pages, looks like. Maybe it’s her criminal-bashing hat? Or even a Preem Vash-bashing hat?
If you want to get ahead, get a hat !
Her regular head folds out into that, but it hasn’t done it for quite a while. I don’t think she’s even been wearing the top half of her head for a while; I wonder where she keeps it?
I prefer the hatless “behive full of eyes” hairdo, myself. But she rocks it whatever she wears!
If that’s how White Chain has been acting all through their training, I can imagine Alison got fed up with it and decided to try something for herself.
Come on White Chain, at least mention the absolutely horrendous legwork she’s been displaying for the past few pages!
Hmm. Student has not surpassed Master at all, it seems…
Allison should’ve paid for a nicer teacher. Instead of a teacher who hands out lessons, she needs a teacher who gives out gold stars.
And I mean actual golden stars.
Hands out lessons? Pretty sure White Chain is legging it here
Pretty sure this teacher is footing out the lessons here.
Ain’t nothing like getting an ass kicking from Sensei. Boot to the head. 😀
White Chain’s little eyeroll is my favorite part of this.

tbh i reaaaaally need someone like white chain as a teacher
If training with an Angel makes one feel like a complete buffoon all of the time, then it shouldn’t feel much different than training with a human.
Should one wish to train with someone for fun, I can only recommend training under a devil.
Devil masters that are willing to teach are hard to find, sure, but goddamn, they know how to have a good time while teaching.

I have to be honest, this brings back all the joy of watching badly dubbed Kung Fu flix on deep UHF stations as a kid.

Thanks for sharing this information, I truly enjoyed your storytelling fashion.

I was looking at some of your posts on this website and I conceive this web site is really instructive! Keep putting up..
White Chain has become absolutely magnificent. Oh, I’m a happy fool, today.
