King of Swords 2-16
” EMPTY PALMS
An internal, cold-atum style said to be as ancient as the gods themselves. It is said the god Ovis taught it to the first angels, who taught it to the first human, Metia. The style involves miraculous alignment of the body’s meridians to multiply the muscular power and striking force of bare handed strikes tenfold. Since the style relies heavily on the cultivation of internal force, its external strikes may seem unassuming to the untrained eye until they hit their target with the force of an ox cart.
It is said masters of this style can so precisely align the channels of power within their body that they can project the force of their blows at range, sometimes up to thirty or forty paces away. One old master of this style, who dwells in Fifteen Rivers, makes a great show to visitors of striking a heavy cast iron bell some 5 or 6 shins high with great blows from his fists, though he stands apart from the bell quite some distance.
A practitioner of this style must take tremendous pains to use it effectively. The style was originally developed for battling and destroying various titanic void monsters and unbound devils, and is rather difficult for humans to learn. A student must train rigorously, keep a strict diet, and maintain fine bodily control in order to effectively utilize its techniques. Therefore, it has always been an unpopular school, seen as somewhat old fashioned. None, however, deny the power of its techniques, which include YISUN’s Open Palm, widely regarded as an unbeatable move.”

Empty Palm …. Leaves The Bar Speechless!
Shoryuken!
> various titanic void monsters and unbound devils
Oh wait. There are eldritch monstrosities in void _other_ than unbound devils? Now you’ve got me properly intrigued, and I am egear to learn more about such extraordinary beings.
empty palm, not sweaty palm.
this is the mistake i’ve been making all these years.
when i punch the demons they just slide off my hands. ay caramba.
Berry nice
The attack calling and two strands of hair sticking up really give Ally that “All Might” feel
OK, so the training does help her control her additional powers also. Cool.
Getting a bit ruthless, isn’t she?
She did embrace her inner sociopath to get rid of Incubus, after all.
I read on your twitter that you want to focus on badass combat drawing, so I’d like to suggest remembering footwork – which foot is forward, where the weight of any pose is, and how people transition from one pose to another. It really helps the flow from one panel to another, and helps sell the entire fight scene. Jackie Chan movies are great for this, dude knows how to edit real fighters really fighting, it’s worth brushing up on. 😀
And White Chain’s clearly taught Al-YIS-UN to call her moves properly.
My lady, there’s no reason to close your eyes when launching your enemy into the stratosphere.
One palm
To make the strike effective, one must also announce its complete name.
A most impressive display. But tell me… for what reason must the attack be called out? Forgive me if this common knowledge. I have never trained in such impressive martial arts.
Those Earths that do not have sufficient spiritual background to develop Atum will have martial arts that recommend breathing out in time with strikes, because using muscles in the chest to breathe out and using one’s muscles to strike becomes one action.
Calling your attacks for Atum martial arts is very common for those less skilled, because it unifies the mind in much the same way. To throw a proper Atum strike, you must concentrate as fully as you can, and attack calling helps an impressive amount. The need to call attacks increases with the internal complexity of the move. A true master does not need to call out the name of their move, but if a rookie does not, any serious enemy of theirs will merely react as if they were slapped with a wet noodle when the attack lands.
Ma’am, this is an Arby’s.
Empty Palm, when her hand is clearly closed.
Intentionally ironic?
An excellent page!
GET IT, PREE ALISON
huh, and that took her only a year to learn?
Pruble? Pruble? Druble pruble!
I “yaaaas”-ed so loud in the bookstore upon seeing this!
