He’s totally gonna destroy the world he built because they wouldn’t support him no matter what instead of doing the real pride move and giving no shits about what lesser mortals think?
I love White Chain’s expression when she goes to grab her chest and then realizes she grabbed her *chest.* What? A boob?? What!? Is that my hand!?!? My boob!?!?!? My hand!?!?!?!?
I imagine for most trans ladies it doesn’t come as so much of a surprise though! XD
Although the little re-rememberings throughout the day must be amazing. I keep getting little happy thrills whenever I see myself in the mirror after getting a haircut or having my eyelashes tinted– I can only imagine what it’s like to constantly notice “oh hey, there’s my awesome new boobs.” 😀
I am reminded of the poem by Edgar Allen Poe. Also the song by Voltaire.
“While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, “Man,”
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.”
Yes, yes, we know he lost the fight in spirit but more importantly what is the exact crime (and proper punishment) for displays of public nudity in front of the Paternum? White Chain pulled a double buff by being very buff in the buff but I don’t think this can end by flexing.
It would be folly to assume that We are the only ones observing with such intensity. And it would be greater folly still to assume that all are such passive observers as We. Be mindful of the opportunistic observers, waiting for a tear in the facade to exploit. Know the Worm has many eyes of its own, and ready means to enact chaos given the chance.
What legitimizes power? what consolidates the king? what makes a god divine? their own might? the blood they shed? or the people who acknowledge them? Quite sly, worm, quite sly.
Lo! Hear the wisdom: A Diamond is the hardest of all gems. It can nought be scratched by any device softer than itself. Not in a thousand years could you do it, only the chisel would you destroy.
… But a diamond is not indestructible, nay, it too has weak points. Hitting these places will chip, fracture, break the thing. And may these breaks be small, yes. But a broken gem can never be whole again- it can only break further.
17 Winged Swords Resurrected to Fell One Thousand Hands
It totally looked like Solomon was approaching White Chain to “finish the fight” only to be stopped by the cheers of the crowd but that is just interpretation of implication. I don’t know what I hope for other than White Chain standing proud and tall if nervous to face her new existence.
OUR SISTER BOUTTA BE NAMED KINGSLAYER THOUGH. The only way this ends, really ends is with Allison as King which means Slimy Salami’s gotta go.
I don’t think it’s going to happen, white chain is struggling to adjust to her new body, something that you don’t want to have to do during a deathmatch with an overall superior opponent.
Also we need to get zaid out still, don’t forget that.
Most importantly though, it looks like the worm has plans of its own, plans that do not necessarily include our crew making it out alive.
Note how we’re on our… penultimate book iirc? And so far every demiurge still lives. Alison nonviolently (mostly) knocked Mottom and Mammon down a peg on her visits to their respective domains. Now Solomon has gotten the same treatment.
This comic isn’t *literally* the story of our hero slaying all the gods and becoming King. It hasn’t been so far, and I don’t expect it to change in that direction, either.
One must imagine White Chain is currently going through a rapid series of confusing personal revelations as she finally realizes she is: a) organic, b) female, and c) needs to do things like breathe now. And it’s not like she currently has a lot of time to work through those issues right now.
Gog-Agog revealing to the camera here, her tactic of “REAL gods don’t get punched in the face, I’m clown baby uwu” while being still being an immortal god-ling with millions of bodies. How do you get a fellow god, drenched in the blood of their path to divinity, to let their guard down? Let them think they have already beaten you.
If Solomon had built his empire on something other than him being a perfect, untouchable god, it wouldn’t be as big of an issue. Any slap to the face of god makes the challenger godly, so power is instantly split in the audience’s perception. Gog agog doesn’t take anyone who doesn’t consent, and I imagine there’s an agreement not to attack here already considered by Solomon, but I imagine Gog will start letting ideas worm into the entire empire.
The moment with the Gogs smiling, all of them in the universes are smiling right then.
Gog-Agog seems pleased that her plan to fix the contest has worked… but the winner is White Chain 2.0 instead of Allison! That was her plan, right? … or was it?
This one suspects that Gog-Agog is right for the wrong reasons. It is an undeniable truth that White Chain was unable to draw a drop of blood from the Prideful King, and thus she has lost the duel. And she shall be gracious, and accept her loss, and shall step down and depart. And Solomon David, the Prideful King, shall return unto his throne, where he shall continue to rule over his perfect, timeless kingdom. And White Chain shall walk, free. For she has gained a triumph greater than any reward that mere victory could have ever conferred.
Not all losses are defeats, and not all wins are victories.
Wow this is basically Solomon’s nightmare scenario. He either falsely ackowledges White Chain as the victor, or make his empire think his tournament is a lie. That he never intends to grant a victor their prize. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Well for the record, the whole reason he holds this tournament in the first place is to find someone who is on his level.
Second, his reaction to the bruise, and agogs comments about the crowd being “wrong” imply that it dosnt count. and that according to rules already in place, he must actually bleed externally.
42 Fragments the Universe Beyond all Reintegration
My reading of her comment differs. The crowd thinks that White Chain has won. Gog Agog thinks that WC has lost on a technicality, but Solomon has lost too and Gog Agog has won. I tend to agree with Gog Agog on this.
Except it’s very clear that he wants someone to beat him. His moment above the stage talking to WC, his reaction to touching his face and his hand coming up clean last page. Its all pretty obvious.
I have been wondering that too actually, it looks like most of its forms manifest a visual replica of the key, and can channel its power to any one of its bodies. Otherwise there would be potential risks in losing it to an exploding head.
Not merely a replica, I believe… they must be the equivalent to other demiurgs’ emissaries, minor parts of the Keys entrusted to them by their lords and patrons.
Maby, but I remember during the first demiurge meeting the gog we saw had a key, and after getting it’s head melted the key seemed to reform along with it. Same thing happend at the the other meeting too I think.
Somewhere, in the depths of the twin realms GOG and AGOG, there’s a giant Dune-sandworm-lookin’ thing comprised of all the best worms and a few others that aren’t being used at the moment.
Who else saw this coming? Solomon losing on the biggest stage and allowing Gog, hitherto portrayed as a clown, the advantage. The question is, how did Solomon not see this coming, knowing Gog as one of the 7 Gods?
Regardless, Solomon, although prideful and pride incarnate, is seemingly self aware enough to understand how he is now perceived by the crowd. What arc will this force Solomon into now? How does White Chain continue along her own greater narrative and will Solomon have any further roll at all?
Why do you think he was looking for a successor as powerful as him?
One would be good to remember that the ‘alliance’ between the other demiurges is tenuous at best and should someone even a tinsy bit weaker take the throne, what would stop any of them from attempting the conquest another seventh of the multiverse with it’s godking that can match any one of them out of the picture?
10 Wobbly Sticks Hold Aloft the Big Fragile Thingy
He’s totally gonna destroy the world he built because they wouldn’t support him no matter what instead of doing the real pride move and giving no shits about what lesser mortals think?
I love White Chain’s expression when she goes to grab her chest and then realizes she grabbed her *chest.* What? A boob?? What!? Is that my hand!?!? My boob!?!?!? My hand!?!?!?!?
It’s a very common Trans Girl experience. OH HEY, I GOT BOOBS!!
I saw it as, what my chest hurts? I need to BREATHE?! How do I breathe?!
While everyone was focusing on big black evil salami, they, as usual, neglected the maleficence of petite blond just as, if not more, evil goggy.
I love it.
I am reminded of the poem by Edgar Allen Poe. Also the song by Voltaire.
“While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, “Man,”
And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.”
Why, of course, that’s the obvious reference. Adore it, actually.
White Chain was like “I’m about to end this dude’s whole career”
Yes, yes, we know he lost the fight in spirit but more importantly what is the exact crime (and proper punishment) for displays of public nudity in front of the Paternum? White Chain pulled a double buff by being very buff in the buff but I don’t think this can end by flexing.
In panel 5 does it look like his face got cut?
Yes, in panel 5 it looks like his face got cut.
I’m getting an unsettlingly similar vibe from all of the gogs eyes, I have a feeling that we are getting a bit of a glimpse of the true worm.
“Gods don’t get punched in the face.”
– A God who got punched in the facr
That wasn’t HER face though, that was just a random face she was using.
I’m sure at least one of the worms has been punched.
… was it punched…
… IN THE FACE?
(cue strong Hans Zimmer dramatic soundtrack)
Kind of hard not to punch a worm in the face.
Um, well, with regards to the fact that the fist is much larger that is true, granted.
But, I mean, there was no need to take my wings just l Iike that.
(cue sad Hans Zimmer reflexive soundtrack)
Can’t get punched in the face if you don’t truly have a face to punch.

The Worm has already burrowed beneath, unseen.

Is this really that big a hit to Sollie’s rep? Im pretty dumb socially.
Me thinks the worm has nommed the audience though, i suggest fire.

Of course gods get punched in the face. And those that have not really ought to, it puts things into perspective.

Gog might be right for the wrong reasons, but she’s not some peon. She’s god of the seven part world. When she’s smug, we should be afraid.
Oh, poor Solomon. Look at his face. All this time, he actually thought they loved him…
Heh.
Were it not for the roar of philistines,
you would hear a tingling sound.
A heart, so hard, now in smithereens,
gone, crashing down to the ground.
Wow this is basically Solomon’s nightmare scenario. He either falsely ackowledges White Chain as the victor, or make his empire think his tournament is a lie. That he never intends to grant a victor their prize. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

It doesnt matter if Solomon doesn’t bleed. All the crowd saw was someone who struck their infallible god. White Chain shattered him.
He claims he holds the tournament to find someone on his level, but really it’s to appease his pride at being unmatched.
Except it’s very clear that he wants someone to beat him. His moment above the stage talking to WC, his reaction to touching his face and his hand coming up clean last page. Its all pretty obvious.
I wonder where Gog’s key actually physically is.
I have been wondering that too actually, it looks like most of its forms manifest a visual replica of the key, and can channel its power to any one of its bodies. Otherwise there would be potential risks in losing it to an exploding head.

Thums got un hive mind, thums got hive key.
What makes you think the keys are physical things?
Somewhere, in the depths of the twin realms GOG and AGOG, there’s a giant Dune-sandworm-lookin’ thing comprised of all the best worms and a few others that aren’t being used at the moment.
This is the holder of the genuine key.
I still see an ally
Why do you think he was looking for a successor as powerful as him?
One would be good to remember that the ‘alliance’ between the other demiurges is tenuous at best and should someone even a tinsy bit weaker take the throne, what would stop any of them from attempting the conquest another seventh of the multiverse with it’s godking that can match any one of them out of the picture?
“stupid idiot is secretly smart the whole time” is my favourite
