It seems like the best way to win this competition is to wear a full body suit of incredibly hard, spiky armor, and let Solomon David cut himself on it.

I don’t think that would necessarily stop him, he seems to be using shockwaves as part of the killing blow, so, he could use concussive shockwaves to pulpify whatever organic is inside. It’s no different from bullet cavitation or explosive shockwaves.
A shockwave attack would be of questionable use on an incorporeal being haunting a suit of ash armor though?
Even ash armor has its weaknesses. It’s supposed to be one of the strongest materials around (I think), but as we have seen, it’s far from unbreakable. If nothing else, the technique he used would give him time to figure out how to deal with it. Unless angels, being basically beings of energy, can move at the speed of light, though we’ve seen no evidence of that.
Heck, he could shatter it with a different technique.

This is drawn much more neatly than the gibleting in previous battles, reflecting the precision of Solomon’s attack. It’s a nice touch.

It seems to me that with this one move (welllll ok it was many moves) Solomon David has easily identified and removed any remaining would be challengers, as I think he believes White Chain deserves at least most of his attention.
