Well, for how powerful all the Kings are I think changing the atmosphere would be child’s play. After all, the only Kings we have properly seen so far are either straight up dying of old age or going senile. I think the hinting of an epic fight involving Solomon seems like we might get a decent idea of the power-scaling.
If I had my pick of one third (I think?) of 111,111 worlds, Throne would be the last choice for spending time. I suspect Solomon commutes, and then only for the most important demiurge meetings.
Beautiful is right. What lovely colors, and indeed, it stands out. Though familiar in its atmosphere, this world seems truly alien once we have been steeped in slums and stars of other-worlds. Ca-caw! *flies away*
Putting a single distant small light source behind the long axis of the hallway wouldn’t allow for light to come inwards from both sides. Those rays must be converging.
Either:
(a) there are multiple distant or point light sources
(b) there is a sheet light source (but see below)
(c) it’s an oops
The lighting on the coliseum is consistent with your idea that there is a light source somewhat behind and off to one side of the corridor. If there are two, the other light source would put a shadow on the opposite side of the coliseum. So (a) is still a possibility.
on the one hand, not every dark-skinned person is related to each other
on the other, he did say hes seen 25 generations of his descendents, so its not impossible for the entire palace to be staffed by his great-great-etc grandkids
Ah yes, good ol’ Hellmurder Island. I’ve been there once, on a seventy-seven-day work visa. It’s the only time I’ve been away from Throne after leaving my homeworld.
Of course, the place has a number of names, but “Hellmurder” is the one that stuck with me. I’ve seen the last Tournament, you see, and in that place, at that time…anything goes. It’s like a guild war back in Throne, only with the Great God-King Himself sitting on his throne and encouraging all concerned to slake their bloodlust on each other. It’s his great “safety valve,” the release for all the pent-up pressure and rage of his so-called “perfect” society, and the folk in his perfect Empire? They eat each other–sometimes literally–when given the chance.
I sold ten fortunes’ worth of pies to spectators of the Tournament, and got the hells out. The sublime smile on The Great Purple-Nippled One’s statuesque face while it all happened still haunts my nightmares.
Still, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, look up Frantello’s in the Harbor District. FANTASTIC Heji-Jabraa fusion cuisine, at great prices.
Frantello is a rascal, with no respect for the hardworking businessman. He has no imagination, no willingness to expand his business, and no creativity when it comes to methodology of payment. And he doesn’t give the Guild discount without three distinct proofs of identity.
I will grudgingly concede he does a fantastic pork bun though.
Man, Salami Dave’s kingdom sure is beautiful. Blue skies, clear cyan waters, verdant landscape, rustic, vaguely roman cityscape… and then there’s the Thundirtdome over here
It will be interesting to see if Solomon and Allison see somewhat kindred spirits in one another. As far as I’ve seen, out of all the Demiurges only Solomon and Jagganoth seem to care about anything other than pure personal gain, and Jagganoth’s higher purpose is ending the multiverse. Solomon, by contrast, has a sense of (admittedly very harsh) justice and a view that some things are more important than his personal satisfaction, just as Allison does. While it’s somewhat inevitable that Solomon will lose his position to AL-YIS-UN the Coming King, I do hope that he gets to go out with some dignity. I was already sympathetic to him, and these first few pages have cemented that.
Highest HDI in the multiverse.
I wonder if all of those guards are his sons too?
Also: YOU CANT KEEP USING VIOLENCE TO SOLVE ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS FOR THE LOVE OF YISUN
I will continue to reach heaven through violence and there is not a damn thing you can do about it
yeah, that’s true!
“Reach Heaven Through Violence”.
Seems pretty clear.
Reach Heaven Through Violence
REACH HEAVEN THROUGH VIOLENCE
Isn’t throne technically heaven?
So trough violence you will reach an overcrowded, corrupt city, that is likely to grind you down and hurt you badly, physically and spiritually.
Seems legit.
If those are all his sons, Solomon David sends most of his time making Love, not War….😏
Well, the historical King Solomon _was_ supposed to have seven hundred wives and concubines…
Reach Violence Through Heaven
You may be able to reach the many heavens through violence, but to reach the Real Universes beyond takes more than the sharp edge of want.
It worked for YIS-UN
*Double checks map of Throne*
… Either Solomon can change the atmosphere around his city or that is NOT Throne O_O
I am almost completely sure that is not actually on Throne- Rather, that is a world that Solomon rules.
He rules a bazillion worlds, I’m sure it’s one of those.

Nah, that’s obviously one of his own worlds.
Maybe it’s his summer house?
But yeah, that sure as divine-moose-droppings does NOT look like Throne.
If I had my pick of one third (I think?) of 111,111 worlds, Throne would be the last choice for spending time. I suspect Solomon commutes, and then only for the most important demiurge meetings.
As clear as day, as clean the sky
As quick as the wing of a blood-soaked fly
Is that a weird slum or are they just building a massive colosseum? With this story it could go either way
Why not both?
Maybe it’s a coliseum slum?
You know, for bumfights.
DIVINE bumfights
Was thinking tha same
Smoke
This place is so pretty! Which means Allison and company are inevitably going to end up burning down every last building…
I regret that my reasoning had not yet reached that far. Now that it is revealed, it is obviously inevitable.
And lo, I saw the sky was blue for the first time
What the fuck?
Beautiful. Stands out so starkly from nearly every other page in the comic.
Beautiful is right. What lovely colors, and indeed, it stands out. Though familiar in its atmosphere, this world seems truly alien once we have been steeped in slums and stars of other-worlds. Ca-caw! *flies away*
This is in fact the very first blue sky to be featured in ksbd. It only took four books to get here.
The eye of chaos in heart of the yang. No paradise is without one.
That’s fucking beautiful.
Even the most just of the Demiurges’ hands are stained in blood and smoke. Such are their ways.
you say ‘most just’ as though
there’s any way for us to know
what vice he has to show
The shadows seem really symmetrical. Is there artificial lighting outside or could they have more than one sun?
It’s more likely that the sun is behind the perspective in the first frame. Whatever world it’s on, that corridor runs in the direction of its course.

please don’t tell me he also sired his guards.
That would be a bit much
on the one hand, not every dark-skinned person is related to each other
on the other, he did say hes seen 25 generations of his descendents, so its not impossible for the entire palace to be staffed by his great-great-etc grandkids
wonder what that building is
Draw a man of northern states
with a tube upon his plate
– he’ll put his hair before his fate

Oi, Dibbler. Whatchu doing off your usual beat here, mate?
Man, Salami Dave’s kingdom sure is beautiful. Blue skies, clear cyan waters, verdant landscape, rustic, vaguely roman cityscape… and then there’s the Thundirtdome over here
Every light produces a shadow, ROYALTY is no different.
You can’t eliminate shadow, just control it’s placement.

Papa Salami Dave’s new multiversal BBQ smokehouse, opening soon to a Wheel near you!
This is a color palette we’ve never before seen in this series. It’s so bright and clear! Shit is about to get wrecked
I think he needs to check the oven
hes having the arena built as he walks!
