Well, for how powerful all the Kings are I think changing the atmosphere would be child’s play. After all, the only Kings we have properly seen so far are either straight up dying of old age or going senile. I think the hinting of an epic fight involving Solomon seems like we might get a decent idea of the power-scaling.
If I had my pick of one third (I think?) of 111,111 worlds, Throne would be the last choice for spending time. I suspect Solomon commutes, and then only for the most important demiurge meetings.
Beautiful is right. What lovely colors, and indeed, it stands out. Though familiar in its atmosphere, this world seems truly alien once we have been steeped in slums and stars of other-worlds. Ca-caw! *flies away*
Putting a single distant small light source behind the long axis of the hallway wouldn’t allow for light to come inwards from both sides. Those rays must be converging.
Either:
(a) there are multiple distant or point light sources
(b) there is a sheet light source (but see below)
(c) it’s an oops
The lighting on the coliseum is consistent with your idea that there is a light source somewhat behind and off to one side of the corridor. If there are two, the other light source would put a shadow on the opposite side of the coliseum. So (a) is still a possibility.
on the one hand, not every dark-skinned person is related to each other
on the other, he did say hes seen 25 generations of his descendents, so its not impossible for the entire palace to be staffed by his great-great-etc grandkids
Ah yes, good ol’ Hellmurder Island. I’ve been there once, on a seventy-seven-day work visa. It’s the only time I’ve been away from Throne after leaving my homeworld.
Of course, the place has a number of names, but “Hellmurder” is the one that stuck with me. I’ve seen the last Tournament, you see, and in that place, at that time…anything goes. It’s like a guild war back in Throne, only with the Great God-King Himself sitting on his throne and encouraging all concerned to slake their bloodlust on each other. It’s his great “safety valve,” the release for all the pent-up pressure and rage of his so-called “perfect” society, and the folk in his perfect Empire? They eat each other–sometimes literally–when given the chance.
I sold ten fortunes’ worth of pies to spectators of the Tournament, and got the hells out. The sublime smile on The Great Purple-Nippled One’s statuesque face while it all happened still haunts my nightmares.
Still, if you’re ever in the neighborhood, look up Frantello’s in the Harbor District. FANTASTIC Heji-Jabraa fusion cuisine, at great prices.
Frantello is a rascal, with no respect for the hardworking businessman. He has no imagination, no willingness to expand his business, and no creativity when it comes to methodology of payment. And he doesn’t give the Guild discount without three distinct proofs of identity.
I will grudgingly concede he does a fantastic pork bun though.
Man, Salami Dave’s kingdom sure is beautiful. Blue skies, clear cyan waters, verdant landscape, rustic, vaguely roman cityscape… and then there’s the Thundirtdome over here
It will be interesting to see if Solomon and Allison see somewhat kindred spirits in one another. As far as I’ve seen, out of all the Demiurges only Solomon and Jagganoth seem to care about anything other than pure personal gain, and Jagganoth’s higher purpose is ending the multiverse. Solomon, by contrast, has a sense of (admittedly very harsh) justice and a view that some things are more important than his personal satisfaction, just as Allison does. While it’s somewhat inevitable that Solomon will lose his position to AL-YIS-UN the Coming King, I do hope that he gets to go out with some dignity. I was already sympathetic to him, and these first few pages have cemented that.
A nice, healthy looking world?
With water and plant life and no clear overabundance of the undead?
I didn’t know such a place could exist in any of the 777,777.
Methinks friend Diem has spent altogether too much time on Throne. Plenty of worlds have sun and clean water and vibrant plant life, and even a marked deficiency in undead.
If for no other reason than because the Demiurges haven’t gotten around to conquering and despoiling them yet (or merely exact tribute from them, leaving the biomes themselves relatively intact).
And only now it occured to me how little actual sunlight and blue sky we got in the comic before.
By the way, reminds strongly of Incubus’s passing in the early chapters of Book 3. Yet I must admit, the Celestial Emperor has much more classic taste for proper architecture.
Is that the Circle of Strength ? Still under construction ?
Or is that part of the whole Circle of Strength thing, that building is to CONTAIN the energies that will be released when the challengers do battle against Solomon ? So as not to damage the rest of the realm. And it has not yet been fully rebuilt since the last time ?
I feel like it’s pretty telling that Solomon David’s place is the only place you would actually want to go on vacation to of all the outworlds we’ve seen so far. Which must mean that it’s the worst out of all the other location’s we’ve seen somehow.
These are beautiful, but I don’t understand the light source in the first frame. Are there two suns, one to both the right and left of the ceiling of that walkway? The light angles in from both sides, that’s just confusing my eyes.
Looks like a prison+labor camp. Probably the “the heavy blade of the law constantly grazing the tender skin of their necks” that was talked about before.
Dude – haven’t you played Sim City? You’re supposed to put all the industrial zones and power plants on the EDGE of the map so some of the pollution goes to neighboring cities! That island in the middle could have been a prime spot for an Arcology! ;-p
What has happened to that guard’s eye? What does he wear upon his face that glistens so? Does he feel righteous pride in his task, his largely useless task of guarding one of the few individuals in the multiverse to not really need it?
A Smugness to Split the Heavens.
A Smugness to Drink the Blood of the Cosmos.
A Smugness to Spit in the Eye of God.
The Arrival of the Smug-ening King.
I like how the “Colosseum” is separated from the rest of the city by a long bridge, and the contrast between the bright skies and the dark dust cloud. It’s like he’s deliberately keeping the “ugly” bits separate from the rest.
Solomon David’s laws are a lie to justify his sense of self-righteousness. The delusion is that the laws create the world he wishes to bring, but all that governs him is vanity, pride, and a callous disregard for others. He would wear a hair-shirt to project humility, and even convince himself he was indeed humble, but one cannot but note his hypocritical desire to expunge that which does not fit neatly into the laws he claims protect order. I’m thinking that that island is where undesirables live and labor and die in service to his vision. Perhaps its both a Colosseum and a slum and a monument all in one grotesque edifice.
Judging by the lighting in the first panel, either this world has two suns or it has a single massive one that subtends an angle of like thirty degrees in the sky.
All these other statements of the suprising yet appropriate nature of this page are true, and good, and I agree with them. Consider, however: Tee hee, purple statuesque man ruling a seaside city carved from marble, time for vaporwave.
“It is not the pleasure of the King that this place should remain so
bad. His laborers also have, by the direction of His Majesty’s
surveyors, been for about these sixteen hundred years employed about
this patch of ground, if perhaps it might have been mended; yea, and to
my knowledge,” said he, “here have been swallowed up at least twenty
thousand cart-loads, yea, millions, of wholesome teachings, that have at
all seasons been brought from all places of the King’s dominions (and
they that can tell say they are the best materials to make good ground
of the place), if so be it might have been mended; but it is the Slough
of Despond still, and so will be when they have done what they can.”
You made some really good points there. I looked on the net for more information about the issue
and found most individuals will go along with your
views on this web site.
Hey look, a reality filter! Nice set of windows that change the color palette of Throne from red&black to blue&white. Which makes that Mammon’s fortress.
One must be careful to ensure the new palace’s view isn’t spoiled by the previous palace while still being close enough to gaze with ire over (and from) either. Such is the trouble of kings.
So I think it was established that Throne is deliberately low-tech by proclamation of the Demiurges, but that their client worlds did not have that restriction? Does Solomon just enforce it on his throneworld as well?
I like the valuable information you provide in your

Highest HDI in the multiverse.
I wonder if all of those guards are his sons too?
Also: YOU CANT KEEP USING VIOLENCE TO SOLVE ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS FOR THE LOVE OF YISUN
I will continue to reach heaven through violence and there is not a damn thing you can do about it
“Reach Heaven Through Violence”.
Seems pretty clear.
Reach Heaven Through Violence
REACH HEAVEN THROUGH VIOLENCE
Isn’t throne technically heaven?
So trough violence you will reach an overcrowded, corrupt city, that is likely to grind you down and hurt you badly, physically and spiritually.
Seems legit.
If those are all his sons, Solomon David sends most of his time making Love, not War….😏
Well, the historical King Solomon _was_ supposed to have seven hundred wives and concubines…
Reach Violence Through Heaven
You may be able to reach the many heavens through violence, but to reach the Real Universes beyond takes more than the sharp edge of want.
It worked for YIS-UN
*Double checks map of Throne*
… Either Solomon can change the atmosphere around his city or that is NOT Throne O_O
I am almost completely sure that is not actually on Throne- Rather, that is a world that Solomon rules.
He rules a bazillion worlds, I’m sure it’s one of those.
Well, for how powerful all the Kings are I think changing the atmosphere would be child’s play. After all, the only Kings we have properly seen so far are either straight up dying of old age or going senile. I think the hinting of an epic fight involving Solomon seems like we might get a decent idea of the power-scaling.
Nah, that’s obviously one of his own worlds.
Maybe it’s his summer house?
But yeah, that sure as divine-moose-droppings does NOT look like Throne.
If I had my pick of one third (I think?) of 111,111 worlds, Throne would be the last choice for spending time. I suspect Solomon commutes, and then only for the most important demiurge meetings.
As clear as day, as clean the sky
As quick as the wing of a blood-soaked fly
Is that a weird slum or are they just building a massive colosseum? With this story it could go either way
Why not both?
Maybe it’s a coliseum slum?
You know, for bumfights.
DIVINE bumfights
Was thinking tha same
Smoke
This place is so pretty! Which means Allison and company are inevitably going to end up burning down every last building…
I regret that my reasoning had not yet reached that far. Now that it is revealed, it is obviously inevitable.
And lo, I saw the sky was blue for the first time
What the fuck?
Beautiful. Stands out so starkly from nearly every other page in the comic.
Beautiful is right. What lovely colors, and indeed, it stands out. Though familiar in its atmosphere, this world seems truly alien once we have been steeped in slums and stars of other-worlds. Ca-caw! *flies away*
This is in fact the very first blue sky to be featured in ksbd. It only took four books to get here.
The eye of chaos in heart of the yang. No paradise is without one.
That’s fucking beautiful.
Even the most just of the Demiurges’ hands are stained in blood and smoke. Such are their ways.
you say ‘most just’ as though
there’s any way for us to know
what vice he has to show
The shadows seem really symmetrical. Is there artificial lighting outside or could they have more than one sun?
It’s more likely that the sun is behind the perspective in the first frame. Whatever world it’s on, that corridor runs in the direction of its course.
Putting a single distant small light source behind the long axis of the hallway wouldn’t allow for light to come inwards from both sides. Those rays must be converging.
Either:
(a) there are multiple distant or point light sources
(b) there is a sheet light source (but see below)

please don’t tell me he also sired his guards.
That would be a bit much
on the one hand, not every dark-skinned person is related to each other
on the other, he did say hes seen 25 generations of his descendents, so its not impossible for the entire palace to be staffed by his great-great-etc grandkids
wonder what that building is
Draw a man of northern states
with a tube upon his plate
– he’ll put his hair before his fate
Ah yes, good ol’ Hellmurder Island. I’ve been there once, on a seventy-seven-day work visa. It’s the only time I’ve been away from Throne after leaving my homeworld.

Oi, Dibbler. Whatchu doing off your usual beat here, mate?
Man, Salami Dave’s kingdom sure is beautiful. Blue skies, clear cyan waters, verdant landscape, rustic, vaguely roman cityscape… and then there’s the Thundirtdome over here
Every light produces a shadow, ROYALTY is no different.
You can’t eliminate shadow, just control it’s placement.

Papa Salami Dave’s new multiversal BBQ smokehouse, opening soon to a Wheel near you!
This is a color palette we’ve never before seen in this series. It’s so bright and clear! Shit is about to get wrecked
I think he needs to check the oven
hes having the arena built as he walks!
A nice, healthy looking world?
With water and plant life and no clear overabundance of the undead?
I didn’t know such a place could exist in any of the 777,777.

If for no other reason than because the Demiurges haven’t gotten around to conquering and despoiling them yet (or merely exact tribute from them, leaving the biomes themselves relatively intact).
Loving the new aesthetics of Roman-esque cities. Each region has its own unique art style.
And only now it occured to me how little actual sunlight and blue sky we got in the comic before.
By the way, reminds strongly of Incubus’s passing in the early chapters of Book 3. Yet I must admit, the Celestial Emperor has much more classic taste for proper architecture.
Oh, wait 😀 Does we have double sun in this world or something? Shadows on the first pannel strongly imply this.
*wonderful*
*wonderful*
*wonderful*
*SMOULDERING RUIN*
An island city for those who fall foul of the Law?
It doesn’t look like a nice place to be by any means, though the rest of Solomon’s lands look pretty great.
OMG he’s even building his own babel tower and all. This guy REALLY is going out of his way to tempt fate, isn’t he???
To do otherwise would be to acknowledge a power and authority greater than himself.
And that just won’t do. Not for Solomon David.
Looks like, yeah.
Dude, why are you buliding the tower of Babel when you’re already a deity?
Cell oversees the construction of his arena.
Well done
Yes, it is odd that he doesn’t seem to have one.
Did not expect a renaissance style for the world, but I really like it
From two suns…
Interesting, that the King has set aside his crown…
another monument, I expected more of their number.
but this city seems quite… mundane.
I feel like it’s pretty telling that Solomon David’s place is the only place you would actually want to go on vacation to of all the outworlds we’ve seen so far. Which must mean that it’s the worst out of all the other location’s we’ve seen somehow.
So, what exactly are we looking at here?
A huge arena?
Stink clouds of burning slums?
The industrial area aka slave labor pit?
An attack of an outside force?
Looks like an even more colossal colosseum. And somehow I suspect it won’t be for poetry readings…
That sunlight is eye-searing in the best way possible. And I see construction of the coliseum continues apace.
These are beautiful, but I don’t understand the light source in the first frame. Are there two suns, one to both the right and left of the ceiling of that walkway? The light angles in from both sides, that’s just confusing my eyes.
Is that a tower being built, or a building being destroyed? I certainly hope it’s the latter.
My god man…. I always loved your illustrations, but i didnt know how beautiful they could become with a pallete swap. Loving the sunlight
Welcome to Illios,
One presumes that during each tourney the stadium gets destroyed, hence the rebuilding?
Looks like a prison+labor camp. Probably the “the heavy blade of the law constantly grazing the tender skin of their necks” that was talked about before.
This comic is reminding me of Sans, tbh. This bridge, the glowing eyes from the last panel, Solomon’s challenge to his kids.
“It’s a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing… Flowers are blooming… On days like these… Kids like you… should be burning in hell.”
In all seriousness, nice job with those reflections on the ground.
I didn’t even notice. How do you even do that?
So blue skies do exist in this multiverse…
Dude – haven’t you played Sim City? You’re supposed to put all the industrial zones and power plants on the EDGE of the map so some of the pollution goes to neighboring cities! That island in the middle could have been a prime spot for an Arcology! ;-p
Nice Tower of Babel you have there… would be a shame if something were to happen to it.
And that explains his good, millennial health: sunny days, clean air, sea breeze. A comfortable house. Friends. A nice view.
The size of the palace is almost as large as his hubris.
What has happened to that guard’s eye? What does he wear upon his face that glistens so? Does he feel righteous pride in his task, his largely useless task of guarding one of the few individuals in the multiverse to not really need it?
So any reason for the white background? Throwing me off a bit, what with the white borders as well. There must be some reason!
Is it foolish that I fear the idyllic portion of his realm more than obvious industrial hellscape?
A Smugness to Split the Heavens.
A Smugness to Drink the Blood of the Cosmos.
A Smugness to Spit in the Eye of God.
The Arrival of the Smug-ening King.
Looks like Santorini
Fourth panel: Making you think there are peaceful places in the multiverse.
Last panel: You can hear YISUN smiling from halfway across Throne.
Damnnnnn, now i kinda want to go on a vacation haha
While many men find a hill to die on, the truly dedicated first build that hill themselves.
I like how the “Colosseum” is separated from the rest of the city by a long bridge, and the contrast between the bright skies and the dark dust cloud. It’s like he’s deliberately keeping the “ugly” bits separate from the rest.

I’m thinking that that island is where undesirables live and labor and die in service to his vision. Perhaps its both a Colosseum and a slum and a monument all in one grotesque edifice.
But, without small lies like that it doesn’t allow the bigger lies to exist. Autonomy being the biggest one- after all; it is fated as such~!
Judging by the lighting in the first panel, either this world has two suns or it has a single massive one that subtends an angle of like thirty degrees in the sky.
Architecture by Albert Speer!
All stone too, none of those modern materials!
Is the sunlight coming from BOTH sides of the walkway? Does that mean there’s more than one sun?
It seems Solomon’s urban planning is going in his favor. I mean why wouldn’t it. it such a fine day.
WE WUZ WAKANDA N SHIET

That construction looks like a colosseum.
Where the Circle of Strength will be held.
Allison will participate as a SECRET MASkED FIGHTER.
And Abaddon will reveal his deadly secret: that K6BD has been a Shonen Fighting Manga THE WHOLE TIME.
What an odd thing, to be the soldier and guard of a conquering god-king.
!ah!
!the tower of babylon rises once again!
You made some really good points there. I looked on the net for more information about the issue

We’ve had discworlds before with spherical suns, i wonder if Solly has decided to try it the other way round?
Also, the ruddy builders have left the toast on again…
