BREAKER OF INFINITIES 1-33
Chapter: 1
“Au Vam chose his royal guard thus: he would whip the men fiercely for two hours. Any man that could endure such a hellish flogging was strong enough to protect the God-King and receive his blessing.
The men that endured this ordeal in complete silence were not appointed to the guard – they were instead banished from his realm. Au Vam did not trust any man who had become so intimate with pain. A man like that must be fed with blood.”
– Chronicles of the Yellow City
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. If Jag is so OP why did he ever stop in the first place? And why kick off again now? Just for Alison’s power? Seems like he never needed it
He may be unstoppable, but he still doesn’t have enough power to destroy Metatron. It would be like a child pounding his fists on you. You won’t hurt him, but he can’t hrt you either.
Maybe giving Metatron’s key back, will also restore his sanity and purpose, creating the Existince as a line instead of a wheel, the whole ‘I’ symbolism there? If he truly is the Scribe of Yisun, and wields it’s Voice to tell great stories and lies into existence. Zoss might have crippled Yisun’s connection with the world as he was still very active in the Gods age.
It never was Metatron’s key in the first place.
Zoss tortured secrets from Metatron, then he used that knowledge to create the keys.
HE BUILT DIFFERENT
CONJURED THROUGH ALTERNATIVE MEANS
Oh shit. The revelation truly made my day,
Well, I’m in wait for more appalling thuths to be revealed,
Incubus and Gog-Agog haven’t had an opportunity to show off. Maybe one of them will be able to draw blood and turn things around?
I think a saw hin flinch a little.
I think I saw Jaggy bleeding a little in the chest.
what an unexpected, shocking reveal
How could you say something so bold, and yet so brave?!
I wonder if Jagganoth’s invulnerability to harm extends to psychological harm as well. Though I suppose he’s already beyond repair in that department anyway.
Oh yeah, waaaay beyond repair! His whole existence is (or has become – I have no idea what he was like before the way he is now) pain of the psychological/emotional/spiritual/everything that’s not physical variety that’s off the charts. To the point that he’s apparently a god-level nihilist. Gotta wonder what got him so bent.
A man named Yantris and his thugs who killed Jaggy’s entire village when he was a kid and then tortured and brainwashed him into becoming a perfect warrior. It was some professional bending.
The amazing thing is that he bent rather than broke completely. They must have psychologically annealed him.
The key to tempering is timing.
I think they left Yuan hot for too long, before cooling him. He’s too hard. A perfect soldier needs to be pliable enough to be controlled.
Oh, and here I thought we were leaving..
Those who feel pain, and fear it, are not invulnerable to harm.
This is a lesson many ox-strong men learn too late.
Thinking back on the cover, and what has transpired so far, and what we THINK we know of the demiurges, I am betting Jadis and Gog-Agog have something planned. Jadis longs for her own death, not that of the universe. And with her being able to see the future, she probably saw already how this all goes down, and planned accordingly. And with nobody taking Gog-Agog OR Jadis seriously, I could see them pulling out a combo move that not only stems the tide of losing at a critical moment, but also breaking Jadis, the supposed strongest sorcerer of the universe, free of her imprisonment.
Neat thought. May I suggest Jadis willingly sacrifices herself to The Worm, adding that op sorcery skillset of hers to the hivemind, but preserving (enough) personality to nudge Gag a gog
While White Chain is probably delivering narration in lieu of the author here, it seems like she’s making a number of possibly false assumptions.
If one were invulnerable but hadn’t always been, one might still avoid blows simply because of force of habit.
Furthermore, is he bearing the pain, or, for lack of a better phrase, getting off on it? One would note that his choice of armor was uhh… not exactly full coverage. So if he can still feel pain, he’s not making some pretty simple decisions to avoid more of it. Also, of that face he’s making in the second to last panel isn’t flinching it’s… uh… something.
Finally, if Jagganutter is dumb enough to tank most of the demiurges’ hits because he can’t be harmed, there are still strategies the demiurges might use for victory. If he can’t be killed, he could still be contained: toss him off throne, lock him in a world for which he doesn’t have the key, deep space, a black hole, use magic to trap him in illusions / sleep / etc.
Yes, true solutions, but they made a bloodpact and Solomon gave a Verdict, no politician, especialy ones with a King’s mantle, would risk losing face.
Sucks to be a demiurge!
Au Vam’s policy only works until someone figures it out.
Well he became a God, so he must have surpassed Au Vam’s policy at some point. The pagetext can suggest Jaggie took the hard, bloody road. I can see him level up in destroying worlds and years, and not stopping at Au Vam’s servitude.
Wasn’t Au Vam the Demiurge Maya wanted to serve in her youth?
The job probably looked more appealing from a distance.
>whip
>lots of pain
>Climax
huh
No! Not my poor, precious Gog.
…They’re going to do something, right?
Somehow, something about White Chain’s face and expressions on this page really remind me of old White Chain. She makes the same expressions, and the shape of her eyes mimics the eyeholes of her helmet. She looks the same, despite looking completely different.
That’s really fucking impressive.
You beat me to the comment! 100% agree, especially in that last panel.
Absolutely right on the money. And she’s so beautiful in this form. Hats off to Abbadon. So well done.
Yeah, Abbadon’s skill has increased dramatically over the years he’s spent on this webcomic.
So, it’s not the Red God that they need kill, but the Red God’s heart
It is often said that life is suffering however it is rarely understood that those capable of greater suffering are also capable of greater lives.
Invincible enemy got you and your party(circle) down? Can’t seem to make a scratch on their cursed hide? Do you lack some sort of Dm Fiat weapon or ritual to remove their invulnerable status? Try “Tying Your Monstrous Foe To A Comet With Essence Strands Of Creation And Yeeting Them Into Space”. Remember, a temporary resolution is still a resolution.
Hey, it worked (mostly) on The Red Eyed King.
So White Chain wants to die with them?
Ms. Negative there is just ruining everything!
You know, if you WERE planning to leave, this would be a really good time to TELEPORT away, instead of walking.
Like seriously; big Red is distracted. Or alternatively, Alison Teleporting away may be enough to draw his attention and distract him (it drew his attention away from Demiurges last time).
Teleporting away RIGHT NOW might be one of the most useful things Alison can do.
I dont think she can. I think the previous lightning-snatch drained her energy
I just have to say that the corporeal transformation of White Chain has got to be the most lovely result of a Ki Rata time-frozen super whammo punch, ever. So beautiful.
If only Jaggy could be so transformed by the havoc currently being wreaked upon him. If so, he might not be so gosh darned angry at everyone and everything. Sigh. Maybe in a more perfect multi-verse.
But hey, White Chain is confirming what many have speculated during this bout; that Jaggy-kins still has a few cans of whup-ass, maybe even a case or two, that he can draw upon, so despite the demiurges somehow fucking around and actually working as a team – a few of them, anyway – the fewmets have yet to fully hit the windmill, and boy oh boy, when they do…
I also think Sir Jag is not so much getting off on this…er…pounding…in full kink mode (although anything is possible), but on the reality that he can take anything they throw at him. I think that fierce joy in panel six says “Yeah, this hurts like a motherfucker, but I know pain you can’t even imagine, and the greatest pain isn’t physical. So go ahead fuckwads, do your worst. It won’t be bad enough.”
It seems that Jagganoth is well versed in the way of the Tower, as the Ya-at slave monks are.
So, what’s his power level then?
