The questions are, of course, ‘if you know everything, don’t you also know the most productive answer to this question?’ and ‘are you telling the truth?’.
Let’s continue the character analysis by including 82 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil, Cio, and Zoss.
In my view, White Chain has long been struggling with issues of wanting to Change. Aeons are supposedly immortal, immutable, genderless beings who were created to be guardians and protectors with the Law inscribed into their very being. Yet over countless kalpas, while faithfully fulfilling their role, White Chain developed a gender identity and fell in love with the worlds. Instead of remaining serenely detached, White Chain became ever more attached. White Chain is both viewed as a paragon as a Peacekeeper, and a source of consternation amongst more “traditionally minded” gender neutral Aeons. The most recent transformation incarnated White Chain’s spirit into a living body.
Cio’s story might be summed up as “I WAS ONCE A MONSTER and now I’d like to be a Human – and NOT be a Monster.” Having had a Close Encounter with the singular lure/trap of Demiurgic power and been destroyed by it as a side effect of her own hubris – Cio now wants to avoid the pursuit of power for its own sake. Summoned back from the Void into a body of lesser power, Cio was toiling away as secretary to her slaver husband, finding escape only in fantastic daydreams….until she met “That GIRL – Allison”. Cio risks everything to help Allison escape -fleeing her own servitude in the hope that new wonderful possibilities may appear. Cio knows she’s dreaming and pinning her hopes on Allison is an incredible long-shot – yet she chooses her dreams over horrible reality.
Zoss, the Conundrum. Zoss, Wielder of Dark Arts, Raider of Heaven, Looter of YISUN’s Names. He who was First amongst the Demiurges of Old, the True Conquering King. Yet for all those victories, and with all that captured or gifted power, Zoss admits he fell into a trap.
“I spent all my life mastering the Wheel, and in time became its lord. Yet for all my effort, I found the world always spun inevitably towards ruin. In my arrogance, I clung to victory. I mustered up all my dreadful might and secret arts, believing this fate could be prevented. Yet in doing so…. I have built a prison. Not only for myself, but for the very world. This was my final revelation: the king of swords must cast aside his blade and let his burden be taken by another. He that masters the wheel cannot break it.” – Zoss, King of Swords 10-141
Zoss found that he cannot replace YISUN. He grasped the Wheel of Creation, and now cannot let go. He can spin the Wheel of Time back and hope for a better outcome and has apparently done so countless times – searching for a Redeemer – one who might set him free of this burden.
The views of other Demiurges add mystery and make Zoss’s situation more multi-faceted. Jadis prophesied that Zoss was seeking one who would overthrow the Seven Black Kings -while Jagganoth alleged that Zoss is a pawn of Metatron. It may be that all those statements could turn out to have some truth to them.
In the short time since she invited Allison to join her in the atrium, Jadis seems to have changed clothes and put on makeup. Not bad for the Sloth Demiurge!
Just discover the comic, just finnish to read up to here.
by Gods wath a blast! inspiring caractere, breath taking graphism, a deep universe,… too mutch too say.
Just thanks, thanks you a lot for this spark of dream, fantasy, feelings you gave us.
“Jadis” – a name with unknown origin. Speculated to come from the French “jadis” (of yore, long ago) or from the Turkish “cadı” (witch).
More importantly, or relevantly (??) the name of the White Witch from the chronicles of narnia.
im not sure the connection has been made before but it makes the hair at the back of my neck stand on end.
Yes… so far nearly all names of the Demiurges have had some connection to their nature. If that’s the case with Jadis, she’s definitely NOT as gentle and well-meaning as she appears here. Jadis’ name is probably based on the White Witch of Narnia as you said, who destroyed all life on her homeworld Charn and threw Narnia in a never-ending winter. No positive associations there.
its amazing how fast things can happen, in one breath your fighting with your friends to prevent a universal collapse. the next breath, your in a wheelchair being told everyone you hold dear is gone. in these moments, as much as it hurts; you must breath.
I am equally interested and terrified to see what happens next

So far, really enjoying Jadis.
I kind of want to see her try to climb into that contraption in those fine clothes of hers.
Good Night, Your Majesty.

‘As Alison knows it,’ Zoss is dead. It doesn’t seem to take easily on Kings.

Now, is that starting from the start of the sentence or the end of the sentence?
Also, that’s 11 minutes 39 seconds, if anyone was wondering.
WHY DOES THIS GIVE ME SUBMACHINE VIBES ???
Watch Allison drink a Fistbumping Lesbians in thirty-five years and become legally dead for five whole seconds.
That…that is a lot more time than I expected.
“We’re all puppets, Laurie. I’m just a puppet who can see the strings.” – Dr. Manhattan
I think the alt text we’ve seen this chapter is what Jadis thinks/sees/knows

Thirty! Five! Whole years!? That’s, like, ages, considering what she’s doing. She’d be lucky to last the next month let alone three decades.
Am I the only one bothered by Jadis completely deflecting Allison’s question?
Is that telescope thing a reference from ALIEN?
Bitch be pigmented like a pistol shrimp, its a warning.
Late 50s is a little young to kick the bucket, but not terrible considering what her body’s gone through already.
“As you understand it” 35 years from now does not mean 35 years of being around.

Alison: But where?
Jadis: 497 North Parker Drive

On the floor is she who has witnessed everything. What’s different?
