The Squeaky Wheel is observant. The healing powers fit really well with Incubus’ pragmatic survivalism – he’s learnt Head of John to ensure he never loses his head or key, and he actively uses his powers to heal all wounds in no time.
Well, my theory is that it follows the comic’s philosophy. The demiurges got stuck, got complacent, and lost power. Now they are reinvigorated by new conflict and their power returns. Especially Incubus, who has the power of passion and desire. He has a goal now, so the flame returns.
Y’know Solomon might have already called dibs on being DIO. But Incubus’s recent body-horror streak makes think he may fight nicely as the KSBD version of Kars.
he’s not wrong, if you understand that his ultimate goal is for him to survive using everybody else as a tool. i mean… you really can’t think that this is actually an admirable take from him, right? if salami was the tyrant, this guy’s the serial killer.
It’s not that Inky is wrong, it’s that he’s an asshole. Any other alternative to “we win this” is “the universe is destroyed by Jagganoth. It would be hella hard to actually *like* him and his values, but if the only take you have in the current situation is “grr sword man mean, he should die”… that’s discarding everything else happening in the story to focus on the current moment.
i mean i think saying “he’s an asshole with a point” really kind of misinterprets what he’s saying here. i don’t think he’s just a “mean pragmatist >:(,” i think the above is him saying “follow my plan that i’ve started or you die.” he just telegraphed to the world that allison is a part of his plan for ??? and he has literally no use for her but her power. sure he wants to beat jaggy – but why? what afterwards? there’s no guarantee that you would survive following inky because he says in the last panel that she doesn’t deserve to live if she can’t prove herself and boy it’s not like those can’t be moving goalposts. he’s right about how to survive this whole shebang with jaggy and friends, but actually taking his advice and working with him is still likely a death sentence.
Fascinating how, even thousands of years later, these Demiurges are still defined by what happened very early on. Incubus’ and Jagganoth’s horrific childhood, Solomon David’s inability to protect his family, Mammon’s murder of HIS family, Mottom’s evil husband – in spite of all their power they are controlled by these events that shaped them forever.
Oh boy, where am I?
Welcome to the Parade of fools, traveler.
I’m impressed by the emotional depth your painting conveys. It’s as if the colors themselves tell a story.
Incubus has had his mask forcibly removed to reveal what lies beneath: A survivor.
Shame that at this very moment Maya is getting closer.
The Life-Cut C o m e t h
I like to imagine that Maya is swimming towards their little island at this very moment.
Swimming very, very fast.
Swimming faster than Ricky Matsui on his way to fight a fire.
That beautiful, dumb man.
he’s clearly feeling better
Get in the robot, Allison. Or Solomon will have to do it again.
We about to get cio vs incubus? That’s pretty great, given that it was Incubus’ manipulation that fucked her over in the vault chapter
My guess is Cio does something, it fails or succeeds only partially (like, she stabs him but not lethally), then Maya happens.
I’m just excited because it looks like Cio is using her paper magic again — we haven’t seen that for a while now.
I believe she’s just using Red Art/Tellan magic to turn her words into a sword, not /paper/ magic per se
Yes. Kill him and take his key Cio. This time for the right reasons. (Also there are no right reasons.)
Incubus finally lets Allison really SEE the boy who shaved his head with that sword
Cio does not seem to appreciate Incubus’ message
and might prove why having friends looking out for you, is very very important.
Pep talk!
Just like my high school football coach used to give!
Interesting that Incubus has healing powers. Did he just keep the scarred-up look out of nostalgia for the Universal War?
Probably part of his “sure, let these idiots believe I’m weak” strategy

You know how people give themselves an artificial slit over one eyebrow for aesthetic purposes? It’s like that.

“Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life.” – Curse of the Eternal Vagabond.
Talking mad shit for someone within Sword-of-Maybe distance.
Time to pull up your big girl pants Alison, and woman up.
Cio takes her shot, misses and dies, Allison becomes warborn avenger.

What a truly inspirational speech.
The Wheel bleeds – therefore, it can be killed!
*general cries of excitement from the Belligerent Knight order*
Oh, I like this guy. He seems nice. Very prudent.
SAME. Everyone’s sitting here all “Grr, kill him, he’s being nasty to Alison,” and I’m all “He’s right though.”
I guess this is like that moment in the previous few chapters when all the neoreactionaries crawled out of the woodwork for Solomon David. *shudders*

He’s a parasite, but a fearsome one. The hardiest barnacle on the bottom of the boat. A truly phenomenal cockroach-man.
I wish I could respect him, but if you wash away the filth on the surface it’s filthier underneath.
Always the bullet. I don’t understand.
Chilling stuff.
Why doesn’t Incubus just take the Master Key? I’m sure there’s a reason.

Maya gonna grab him by that XYZ earring and unzip his head.
Only me… and you… and Auntie Maya…
I wanna point out the irony of Inky talking about poison there – seems like he hasn’t heeded Meti’s words, who’d once said that the Sword is a poison.
