Thanks for reading folks. I’m going to visit family with my little guy and will be back (with the comic) June 9th. I hope you’ve been enjoying the read, I’ve certainly enjoyed finally getting to tell this arc of the story. We have a little bit more with Allison and Maya before we get the meat of this final book. Loving the arc and buildup! You’ve got some really gorgeous spectacle scenes done in the past few chapters, which definitely sells the scale of these powers. I think Jadis was a slightly weak plot device, but the arc for Allison that you wrote her for was good, so it’s not a huge quibble. Overall I’m very glad you gave space for one more book, and so excited to see this story build up towards its conclusion!

To answer your question, I don’t think I’ve been more hyped for seeing the end of a series like your comic. I have no issues with you doing a bit more with Allison and Maya if it means squeezing just a little more KSBD into my life before finally getting to witness the end.

This book in particular has me constantly flipping back to the first page to just visually compare Allison and Zayn to where they started. It’s nuts. Personally I’m thrilled at the timeskip and consequences therein, because it adds a lot of focus and goals to what’s going on. I feel like a lot of the comic has been pretty aimless and expository so it’s really nice to have this strong of a direction going into the last book.
I have been reading KSBD for years and I love the story. I face the last book with anticipation and sadness.
I hate to criticize your amazing work but I gott say I feel like this page doesn’t transition very well from the previous one. The previous page, where Maya lashed out in anger and the close up of her astonished expression, was much more interesting left alone. It really doesn’t need to be expanded upon and leaving the aftermath of the cut we’ve already seen demonstrated left unseen made it all the more impactful imo. It really showed that preems death was insignificant in comparison to the discovery of the maybe sword. Now this page just feels like a retcon flashback like “oh wait he was actually facing me and laughing” and is just unnecessary.
Replying to completely disagree. The scene showing the initial cut’s technical drawing and storytelling impressed and horrified me despite knowing in theory what it would do. Maybe this is how Maya felt too.
Please, please, please, please more allison and maya, as much as you can possibly stand, they’ve been the burning heart of the comic for so long! Do em justice and thank you for such incredible characters!
