I wonder if Incubus learned the lesson that Meti wished to impart when she bid Maya cut off her head. For certainly Maya, an imperfect swordsman, could not have cut Meti if Meti did not wish it so. So what was the lesson that Meti sought to teach as her laughing head arced towards hell? And has either of them learned it?

Dude has been in love with her since they were apprentices, and has been trying to get her to kill him in a weird courtship/suicide ritual this whole time.
Incubus is “probably gay” (Abaddon’s words) and is terrified of death to the point of allying with the guy who’s going to destroy the world because it’ll let him survive a few seconds longer. He mastered techniques that allow him to survive decapitation and dismemberment purely to be able to fight a lady who can cut him to bits at will. I’m not sure about this one.
