I’m really looking forward to the next part, where the consequences of 2 Michaels’ choices come home to roost. I hope it’s slow enough for 2 Michael to comprehend what has happened and why.
Michael’s wing-eyes went back to blue for one page, making me wonder if I was mistaken before, but on this page again have that goldish-peach color of Mottom’s key. But also his original blue.
Perhaps key-bearing angels have blue as their base color, but then shade to whatever part of Yisun’s name they’re closest to? White Chain shaded purple once she got Solomon David’s key.
If Michael has Mottom’s key (Glory, or in his case, Glory to God and zealotry), or got a better understanding of that aspect via his interactions with Metatron (who Zoss got keys from in the first place, right?) in such a way that he got a very similar new key or part of the key or something, that could make this impending fight go interesting places.
Although I already thought things were going interesting places as Zaid’s so Jesus-coded I’m expecting him to resurrect soon.
I’m starting to think he was “supposed” to be the Second Coming of Christ before Allison got the key, because that’d fit into the Christian apocalypse mythology, and his surname means from Nazareth. And his design with the beard makes him look pretty Jesus-y. And 001 is still alive and pissed, and she’s very Mary Mother of God and also Sophia Mother of the Demiurge coded. There’s also the theory that Nyave was wormed, which could mean Zaid was wormed, but the worm was Allison’d, and Allison probably wants him alive, so Zaid potentially has a fuck-ton of crazy-powerful people who want him alive from both sides of the fight…2 Michael, maybe Gog-Agog, definitely Nyave, probably Allison, possibly 001 if I’m accurate with her Mary Mother of God influences.
Question is if it’ll take three days to resurrect, and whether he’ll be sane or intact after. Cio-now-Nukoku for example is a huge unknown after resurrecting, and the whole story celebrates Change.
(Sometimes I wonder how much Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Talents series has influenced this comic.)

I was also wondering about that. He’s definitely Jesus-coded so he might end up getting resurrected, but that kind of resurrection hasn’t really been a thing in this series so far. Zoss showing up after being beheaded feels more like he’s “beyond” death than that he came back from the dead, like a metal version of the Jedi Force Ghost thing. The reincarnations of angels and demons also feels different, as do the universal resets. So I think it would feel a little bit out-of-place with the rest of the story if he came back from the dead in a way comparable to the way Jesus did in Christianity.
Also, since YISUN apparently “wants to stay dead”, perhaps Zaid dying and staying dead despite being Jesus-coded will turn out to be the intended plot-twist?
Well, we know there’s no afterlife in KSBD, at least for humans. So Zaid is unlikely to be stilla round as more than a cooling corpse. But you never know what surprise Abbadon will pull out of his hat next!
With the references to Heaven and Earth, it interests me how much of this story can be interpreted through Daoist , Buddhist and Hindu lenses, depending on how you examine the various philosophies. Though the path to immortality is differently depicted here, Al-Yisun has the power to determine her own fate and survival the Maybe-Sword. She has cultivated her conduct.
