“Few knew, and fewer still then those that could understand, among mortal kin, the terrible, icy sorrow enshrined in the hearts of those fiery guardians.”
I love that people are going,”Oh no Gog-Agog might be in trouble!” Like people didn’t say that same thing about Solomon against Jag. She hasn’t survived longer than the mortal mind has the ability to process by being easy to kill.
But I think Metatron is not doing anything. Just watching. 2 Michael did this to Gog. And I think for the first time. Since Zoss this time deviated from the normal standard guy.
I put this on my to read list years ago, this last few days I have been reading it, and now I’ve caught up, 11 years of comic passed in the blink of an eye. It’s an odd feeling.
Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
He’s half man and half machine
Rides the Metal Monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high
The angel takes the road empty-handed, without a map to guide him; not dreaming that he carries treasure, nor hoping that someone will run to meet him. He casts off hope, if he has it. The burden of hope is heavy.
The path itself knows where he is going. The path itself will lift him forward. The path itself is all.
So, just mulling…White Chain’s predominant color shifted to purple once she had Solomon David’s key. I think that has to do with her mindset, or her “understanding” of the names of Yisun.
But 2 Michael here seems to have wing-eyes that match the color that used to signify Mottom, who was bearer of the word Glory. Previously he had blue wing-eyes, now he has a pale gold/peach color.
Therefore, is 2 Michael closest to that aspect of Yisun’s name here? (Not saying he has a key like White Chain, but unlike Mammon and 001, Mottom didn’t seem to have a “heir”. Could Metatron have said something to 2 Michael that shifted 2 Michael mentally into a spot to “fulfill” that aspect?) Or did the key that Jagganoth took from Mottom make its way to 2 Michael somehow?
There’s been a lot of color symbolism throughout the comic, so I’m loathe to think the color is just chance (although it could be).
The root knights/thorn knights/etc. have always thematically been on a trajectory towards flowering/blossoming, they’re all part of a tree theme, which was also a theme with Mottom.
MAN, I would LOVE to see a rebirth of Delicious somewhere in here. Just her blossoming into a new life right in the middle of this battle in some magnificant new form.

But… isn’t Gog still < Zoss? And isn't Zoss < Metatron?

Oh wow, this is really ramping up. No way this can get even more- IS THAT 2 MICHEAL?
Angels (spits) lets trustworthy than demons. Meaner also. Can’t stand those dang machines.

Wilkommen in der Dämmerung
MY WIFE IS BACK YAYYYY

That sword is giving me a vibe of foreshadowing
Everybody always smiting wretches in the name of God, as if all the wretches weren’t, themselves, God.
Ah, think of the joyous world we could have if God were to stop hitting Itself.
YISUN can stop hitting itself any time it wants. It finds all of this quite amusing.

And law descends to stifle freedom
Does it ever do anything else?
I often find myself saying, while reading the pages of this final fight, “I’d play tha faction!”
In what game? Idk. But I’d play it.

So perhaps we are building up to that?
Only semi-related:

No idea how likely that is.

Who do we think Michael is angry at? Is he backing up Incubus’ forces, or has he come to smite everybody and clear the path for his boss’ top janitor?
I am, indeed, smitten.
Sinner?
