I’ve seen enough James Bond films to realize 001 does not make it very far into the story even though she resembles the sometimes henchman, sometimes Soviet agent, Zbigniew Krycsiwiki, better known as Jaws – but the bowman … now he’s interesting.
I understand concerns of motivation and pacing, and that you wouldn’t want Allison to just cakewalk her way to the ‘final boss’; and I’m not particularly concerned about her physical welfare in this moment given that she was quite literally bisected by the maybe sword and pulled herself back together via sheer force of will… but what was the purpose of all that training if she’s going to struggle to this degree against a relative scrub in terms of storytelling like 001?
Um… is there a reason the particular head of the godship Incubus is standing on seems to be suddenly opening its eyes much wider over the course of those last three panels?
I don’t think that’s the case here? In the third-from-last panel you can barely see any of the iris due, I think, to the lid being largely closed, and it’s a pretty straight-on shot; but then by the final panel, you can see the entirety of the iris. Whether that thing opening its eyes plays into something or it’s just an artistic choice, I have no idea, but I would for sure still argue that the eye is opening.
I mean, crap, man! Look at that! That’s, like, his stomach plug on the ground back there. You don’t see that every day. I mean, that doesn’t really even seem possible if you think about it — with body organs and cartilage and bones… I mean, I’m no doctor, but that was like one clean chunk!
You can call it “artistic license” or you can call it “drawing a bunch of partial intestines and other assorted offal is probably very frustrating, boring, and never looks right”.
Given the heavy telegraphing of Zoss and Zaid being the same person, that certainly brings new meaning to “A man who strikes without thought of his action can cut God”

I don’t think that’s the case here?
