I like to imagine that Mammon’s servants are suprisingly patient with children in the rare event one manages to enter, giving them tour of the outer fortress in attempt to impress upon them the power of accounting as a practice and inviting them to serve the guilds. Like imagine a PBS cartoon with musical numbers where talking furniture teaches the basics of cuthroat capitalism.
Actually, if this is a bank, there really ought to be a coin-op vending maching full of super old gum somewhere.
Sword gets longer as the story progresses. Sort of like the fish I catch. How does she manage to draw (vertically?) a sword with such a long blade? She has to have someone pull it out for her and then hand it over…
Yes, it is pretty weird how she drew it. In addition, we can see the sheath on her back (or shoulder) and this excludes the fact that she could just take it off and draw a sword.
Scabbards for very long swords come in two historical varieties that I am aware of. The first is open along one side for almost the entire length of the blade…Only the last few inches of the tip are held in a ‘normal’ sheath, while the flats of the sheath (while open to the sides) still prevent the bearer being accidentally cut while handling. A strap that can be released with the thumb binds the top of the blade at the ricasso into such a sheath. To draw, the strap is nudged out with the thumb, the blade is pulled upward just a few inches to clear the tip, then swung to the side freely.
The second type is more popular in the east, and when the blade is to be used the entire sword and its sheath are taken in hand, the sheath being basically thrown off as the sword is drawn, or pulled off by a retainer. This is usually only seen with battle swords such as no-dachi…When the battle ends, there will be plenty of time to recover the sheath if the owner survives.

Draw the sword with the scabbard together , then strip the sword from the scabbard in front of you. This scabbard can be called a “Baldric”. Less speedy than a short sword , but just the thing to cleave a desk.
Hmm… If I rightly recollect, it has to do with Mimic’s having to remember all the little details of anything and everything they’ve ever encountered, so that they can rightly duplicate it. All those folds in the gray…err.. pink matter? Yeah, think of it like data storage. Most human-types can store / utilize somewhere around a quadrillion bytes of data – but most of us don’t use it to remember every line or flaw or texture of, say, a desk, or corpse.
Now, me, I think that desk mimic musta been close to 200 years old or better to have grown that big and had a brain sized to match! A prize specimen, for sure!
You paint the most gorgeous carnage. I am eager to find out what happens next.
While part of me is wishing Cio was still wearing layers of floofy clothes, the rest of me is glad she is wearing something relatively easy to clean of entrails and ichor. Good of her to think ahead and wear something practical for the job. I guess it makes sense, since she’s read/wrote a bunch and is the most genre-savvy.
There’s also the whole “criminal mastermind in a previous life” thing, but that’s less relevant to my headcanon and shipping.
I really thank you for the valuable info on this great subject and look forward to more great posts. Thanks a lot for enjoying this beauty article with me. I am appreciating it very much! Looking forward to another great article. Good luck to the author! All the best!

Royalty is the dismissal of inconvenient realities, so they say.

She took off the sword *with* the sheath, flung the sheath into the air by whipping the sword upwards, then caught the sheath on its way back down?
The scabbard only needs a slit along half the top edge for it to work. Herd to see if this is the case though

Incubus is such a JoJo character.
He wishes.
Okay, gonna be honest: Is Morpheus using Alice like a Platinum Games character? Does he have an XBox controller just out of the frame?
And this is just the first room. Oscar is already having regrets.
I think Allison should really worry her pretty little empty head after all.
Allison you uh. You got a lil-
n- it’s- just… you’re covered in blood hon
“Don’t worry. It isn’t mine.”
oh well thank goodness for that then
The alt-text is, of course, talking about Blueberries pipe.
One can take pleasure in the act of cutting, but only the most despicable subjects delight with the result of the act itself.
Guts and glory.

That mimic has a surprisingly large brain

No longer a prize specimen, but two of rather inferior quality.
And this is just the entrance hall, wait until they get further and further in
When AL-YISUN says die, it’s time to have a liedown.
“Gooood. Gooooooood…”
Oh… that makes me remember the first time… ah… the glrious feeling of the first killing… [wait, what Oscar is doing – or not doing?]
Tender as the ballpoint
Sturdy as the Yew
Fend against the writing desk
and try yours not to spew
Here’s to hoping that mimic blood washes off easily
Note to self: do NOT leave the mimics lying around after birthday parties.
I hope the next room is in better condition.

…I just realized that in panel 4, even the scrolls and papers in the desk’s drawers are mimics. Now that’s the work of a completist.
The deal with incubus may hurt her in the long run but so far I’m not sure she would have survived the last few encounters without it.

I’m glad to see our King sprung to action, but cutting with a large knife is hardly what I expect of royalty. I don’t know how to feel about this…
