Seeker of Thrones 4-25
Chapter: 4
“In Lethyx dwells a white princeling who doth not sleep, but feedeth upon the sleep of other as a tick fattens itself upon a bloated vein. There doth he perch, and sifteth through the minds of men as one sorts marbles, to shatter them at his pleasure.”
– Book of Black Kings

an immortal who’s impatient? really? mmm….
He encourages reckless impatience in people who are fated to kill him, if they ever fulfill their true potential.
So this is where Bowie went when he died.
my my! i did know he was some kind of dreamwalker, did’t think he’d be something like a real version of the devil!
Can’t wait to see what he gets out if these deals, probably a piece of their soul or something along those lines, otherwise he’d never be here for Alison.
Magisters are easily brought to heel, because their demiurge can always take back the power that has been loaned out.
I can see having Alison depending on him for power, rather than mastering the greater power of the True Key, work out very well for Incubus. –in the short term.
If he can find a way to steal part of the True Key of Keys, more the better.
If Dark Souls III has taught me anything, it’s that free levels are not truly free. They always come with a cost.
Don’t take shortcuts, Alice-UN. Grind those XPs the long way. At least then, you’ll know that they are YOURS.
If he gives ambition, what prevents him from taking it back?
Exactly right. I suspect the Golden Army is composed of the rich, successful and fulfilled, armed with all the powers of their various stations, who have realized that all their powers come, at the root, from the little voice of Incubus saying “You can do it!”
And so we have a volunteer legion, because none want to contemplate the moment when Incubus says “And now you can’t.”
Reject the dream. Seize reality.
Those pink eyes on Incubus. I like.
He’s making a mistake. Alison does not lack ambition.
Sure, it’s happened once or twice someone couldn’t pay the price
And I’m afraid I had to rake ’em cross the coals.
Sure, I’ve had the odd complaint, but on the whole I’ve been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls!
-Name Withheld For Legal Reasons, Founder, Guild of Mysterious Peddlers
Yuuuuup! Heard that in my head during his whole pitch.
Yeah but that dick can’t be free.
It is clearly stolen. Of course, not even his purloined member can achieve the erections afforded by a cybernetic woolly argentinosaurus heart pumping molten gold. Probably less painful though.
…
It feels like Incubus could fit very well in the world of Psychonauts as a black market dream dealer…
The power does not lie behind a locked door, nor can it exist without one, oh young Alice-UN, for the power is the knowledge and ability to unlock one.
Remember, Alice-UN, that without a door the ability to unlock one is meaningless for the power is not a goal, it is a path
I have found that those who would honer a deity who’s desires are more demonic then most demons are not the sort who have goals suitable to be achieved.
Of course, if he *unlocks* the potential, he can probably just *re* lock it at will. Great insurance policy against being crushed by the rising King. I wonder how many more of the seven will try corrupting her rather than openly opposing her.
You cannot refuse.
He offers the key to your dreams.
Rip it from his skull
Normally I’d charge for this sort of advice, but there was a plague of especially juicy locusts in the marketplace today so I’m feeling generous:
Don’t take the deal.
(Also, consider not equating the customer with “hilarious losers” in your sales pitch, Lord Incubus)
Ermagherd, I made it … and am so disappointed that I made it because now I have to wait. ;_____;
The price is not listed. And any price you have to ask for, I’m told, is one you probably can’t afford.
WHEN AMBITION TAKES HARD WORK
“AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FA THAT”
Why does the phrase. “Make a deal with the devil” instantly spring to mind?
Wait, ‘white princeling’? I don’t think this refers to Incubus’ complexion. A white soul? Is he not human?
Instead of having him take care of herself, Alison could instead have him make sure her boyfriend isn’t too under-leveled to join her party when they meet. That makes a lot more sense.
Tngénue, who let you out of the Birdcage?
One thing I noticed is that the first warrior loses his scars after he is transformed. Since every scar is a lesson, clearly a warrior who was given his power without those sacrifices would have learned few lessons indeed…
