Or live and make things better in spite of the sad nihilist’s efforts. A cheerful nihilist knows that because nothing matters in the long run, anything you do should be to preserve knowledge AND make things better for all those around you as well- not to mention yourself.
The cults of Jadis are simultaneously some of the most knowledgeable and most drug-dependent persons living in Throne, by far. Everyone else takes them to cope with the pain of life; Jadisians take them to cope with the pain of nihilism. As a result, they make *fantastic* customers- reliable, rich, and careless with their money and health.
Would’ve gotten into the market years ago and made off like a bandit, but the devils monopolized it hard, the bastards, and the last person I saw trying to smuggle her product past them was growing screaming faces out of all of her tendons.

Now, if Jadis was SMART, she would realize that just because a process appears to be procedural doesn’t mean is actually is.
And that because lives don’t matter on a larger scale, it means people should endeavor to make things better if they can… To make those little blips pleasant ones at least.
Then, once life is better, you had an impact on others, and you HAVE made an impact.
I’m half convinced this is, so far, and illusion that Jadis is forcing on Allison to try to get her to give up, die, and release the power that is protecting her, to give up the key.
ohh, is that how this story arc is going to go? Previously Alison attempted to affect fate though force of action, is she now going to learn how to affect reality though understanding and emotion?
“Now you’ve done it you freak shit. You’ve fucked up. You’re being tracked by the grid. The eye in the sky is watching. We’re coming for you. Prepare to die.”
My god, all these comments trying to out-wax each others philosophy. You all realize its pointless to try and apply Real World Philosophies to a fictional Universe in which God and Gods are proven to exist, yes?
I wouldn’t say it’s entirely pointless (though yes, the comments section reads like a bunch of armchair philosophy majors/roleplayers sometimes, heh). I mean, a large degree of the comic has been about proving that all the ‘gods and goddesses’ are still just normal people with ludicrious power – and the GOD-gods are dead, or never existed.
If anything, I think the fact people put this much effort into writing all this means the comic makes folk THINK, which is a great thing for art to do
ALLISON! It’s right there! You have been shown that fate is an inescapable maze of predestined outcome and your agency is an illusion of perspective. Follow the path, eat the prize.
“Life… is strength. This is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world. But is it what you want? You are… different inside. [summons random woman] This woman lives and has strength of a sort. She lost her parents to plague, her husband to war, but she persevered. Her farm has prospered, her name is respected and her children are fed and safe. She lived as she thought she should. And now she is dead. [snuffs flame] Her land will be divided, her children will move on, and she will be forgotten. She lived a good life, but she had no power; she was a slave to death. I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?”

The simplest argument to refute a nihilist is to kill them

Since the last post can’t get out of my head image of Jadis saying “Abdolutely nothing” in Jackie Chana’s voice

The best argument against nihilists is to kill them.
Nothing mattering is just an excuse to lay around and do nothing,
You can be nihilistic, deterministic or whatever without being an ass about it.
Hey girl. Come over here and take a look at my hole.
“I watch. I wonder. I build. I tear down.”

I had a great time reading your essay and found it to be very beneficial. Play Five Nights at Freddy’s with me if you have some free time.

Wow, Jadis. Like, “This thing literally glassed me for who knows how long, and gave me a terminal case of nihilism. Wanna’ check it out?”

Are you ready to uncover the mysteries at Five Nights at Freddy’s? This is a good horror game and always thrills me.
Do you want to join FNF? one of the music games that entice players. You will have tough challenges and you have to try to complete your mission.
Nothing really matters, anyone can see, nothing really matters, to me … The Queen of entropy, air and darkness … or just Queen, I forget
When the abyss stares into you, stare into it also.
Jadis be short-sighted, though knowing all things…

Jadis always looks to be in pain.
