King of Swords 6-57
Chapter: 6
“From this hour forward the gates of the city will be barred to my kin. Do not underestimate them. Do not commune with them. Do not give them offerings, or give them bread or Ajash if they visit you disguised. Many of them have a sweet countenance and a honeyed tongue. They will say their wish is to be a teacher of men, to spread messages of peace. In an earlier age, this was true. Now dogs and worse have crept into their ranks. Madness has consumed them. Their only passion now is a lust for blood and power.”
-Proclamation of Au Vam
And here SUDDENLY did I realise that “The Master” class picture in “Broken Worlds” is very likely based on Meti’s image. It was hair that previously deceived me.
Extra limbs wrought of Atum are really fascinating.
And yeah, the final speech is indeed glorious and worth quoting. Probably I’ll learn it by heart.
“She raises up the carpet of the days I’ve walked upon,
and through caverns of the sky we make our pathway”
-says a voice like yet strangely unlike Vramin’s.
And Horus raises his hand against the Prince.
But the Prince already holds his wrist in a grip that burns.
And Horus raises up his other hand against the Prince.
But the Prince already holds that wrist in a grip that freezes.
And he raises up his other hand and electrical shocks pass along it.
And he raises up his other hand and it blackens and dies.
And he raises up a hundred hands more and they turn to snakes and fight among themselves and of course he whispers: “What has happened ?”
– Creatures of Light and Darkness, by Roger Zelazny.
Awww, the book about which I wrote my BA thesys and my favorite scene from it ^___^ And yeah, Zelazny’s shade is omnipresent in this astonishing comic, but especially in “Aesma and three Masters”, I think.
Zelazny’s premature demise was one of the great tragedies of literature. We will never know how several of the most marvelous series of books conclude.
If someone whips out a banjo in this fight, I’m out…
There is nothing that makes you apreciate the merits of war quite like that I say. I once knew a warrior from a certain rock orbiting a certain star that made a compelling point as to how a proper tank battle ( a tank bataillon ,supported by other means of course, being the prefered sword of that generation on that paticular rock) is nothing short of the pinnacle of civilisation. Every other realisation of human intellect, creativity, drive, organisation, accumulation of ressources and want just being steps towards that final goal.
So is humanity a teleological phenomenon? Is there some essential goal of the historical trends of humanity? I say Patton or whoever was a fool.
This is Monkey’s Razor: Do not aggregate entities beyond necessity. Humanity is the set of all humans. It is not one life form with a conscious will.
Its uncanny how the line between gods and demons often blurs in the midst of bloodshed
“What a piece of work is man, How noble in reason, how infinite in faculty, In form and moving how express and admirable, In action how like an Angel, In apprehension how like a god, The beauty of the world, The paragon of animals. And yet to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor Woman neither; though by your smiling you seem to say so.”
…that one is totally Nadia Om. The energy color is right, skintone, nose and jaw shape.
Four arms good, SIX ARMS BETTER!
And the worm needs no arms at all, yet in the fullness of time conquers all.
Thank you, Edgar.
Incubus is looking…well….
In other news, Meti is throwing a lot of shade for someone who looks like they already have both feet in the grave.
The wickedness was there from the first days. Those who chose not to perceive that even when its manifestations became unarguable were the ones who descended into madness.
Across The Wheel, there are artisans who, having heard of Meti’s lessons on the matter, attempt the converse: Taking upon themselves an especially sharp rock, they challenge themselves to channel through it such unlimited power of creation that those not knowing the source of artifacts thus made think them wrought by the fires of god.
The Truth of an Infinite number of arms, with an Infinite number of Truths, is eventually reduced to one outcome..
The Ending of life.
Incubus looks on with sword in hand, ready to fight should the battle spill their way.
Maya instead grips her staff, ready to move on from this grim battlefield.
Meti, the wisest of them, uses this encounter as a moment to teach.
The Excerpt foreshadows Incubus’ change. Doesn’t it?
The first apprentice, looking at the fighting, seems a little bit taken aback to me. Eyebrows raised like “Uh, damn. I mean that’s impressive as hell, but I don’t think I want to get any closer.”
I would contend that the mark of a false god is the use of the Power of Creation in this crude manner. Alone among the Demiurges is Mammon, who uses this power not only to give death to His enemies, but also towards the genesis of Wealth. Wealth is the opposite of violence; where violence begets itself and is the subsistence of all living things, Wealth disappears violence and is measured in the incorruptible permanence of Gold, the Holy Metal.

“Observe how it is used for the same purpose a man might use a specially sharp rock”
