(content warning: gore)
“Draw the nonshape,” said Prim. “Imagine that we are kin. The fire in your fingers is the fire of my heart, the secret fire of the God of Gods. My body is the nonshape. Make it so, and dispel yourself of notions of reality.”
– Psalms

Serious Luther Strode vibes…
The foundation of spear law is doing everything you can to avoid ending up in this exact situation.
It’s difficult to outdo Luther Strode levels of gore, at one point he was literally at risk of drowning after yanking the heart from this goddamn fuckhuge Russian warrior and a geyser of blood started blasting out as the guy turns and grabs Strode and mutters some cryptic shit before finally sagging to the ground.
I imagine all the blood remembering to splash everywhere and the bodies remembering to fall will fully one-up the gore from the comic, so… congoretulations!
This appears to be exactly what would be expected from the previous page.
I kinds hoped for a modicum of someone who might be — that someone, perhaps Maya, would be on the field or in the stands, not one of the attackers, but clearly following Solomon David’s movements with her gaze.
Remember how during the big first fight, she seemed to be just sitting there, but afterwards, there were sliced gouges visible in a semicircle around her? It seems plausible that she might be capable of approaching similar speeds if she wished to. Maybe.
Oh, well.
Your wish may still be granted! As of the last panel, time has not yet be restored to forward motion – something outrageous may still take place.
I got a vibe from that Vader comic quote: “I am surrounded by nothing but fear and dead men.”
I have seen many displays of brutal and overwhelming violence and destruction in my travels but this….this is something you don´t see every day and I am very glad for that.
This is something you don’t see at all, unless you are outside of time like the Emperor.
Now, that is a splash panel.
A good spread.
Those that would still approach are fools. Craw craw! But could a fool draw blood from a god? Chirp! Will one of our heroes be this fool? Coo coo?
So this, ladies and gentlemen, is Overkill taken to the next level. A display of brutality and the legacy of an art that should likely not exist. No wonder the prior practitioners did not use it, even as the world burned around them.
I think ketchup has been ruined for me for a while.

EMPEROR WINS
FATALITY
FLAWLESS VICTORY
That was some impressive uncensored Dragonball/Miracleman shit, but now I kinda want to see David whaling away on Jagganoth and achieve nothing save breaking his own hands.
Pretty sure if someone murdered the heck out of Metatron, Jagganoth wouldn’t be sleeping so soundly at night.
Absolute bro moment.
Rest in peace, preem warrior mantis.
Show off. And it lasted basically nothing.
Solomon conceals his abilities and thus his weakness. To onlookers, it is as though Solomon simply extended his arms and his attackers exploded in blood. But we can see he may have no such capability, he stopped time and then killed each one of them with his fists. Admittedly I’m still open to suggestions on how to exploit that.
“Guys, guys! I figured out Solomon’s weakness!”
“Really? What is it?!”
“So, you know when he just causes whatever he wants to explode into blood? He’s not actually doing that; he just stops time and punches his foes to death!”
“…Where’s the weakness?”
Honestly, I don’t think this is time manipulation per se, but instead just Solomon moving very fast. Probably something about the internal energy cultivation of Ki Rata allows him to move and thing so fast that everyone else appears to be standing still.
An’ THAT is why tha en’t gonna see me anywhere near a demiurge. Scary shite, I tells ye.
Solomon is one of 7. One wonders what prevents him from becoming the true King of Kings and completing the Path of Royalty.
The fact that it requires all six to keep Jagganoth in check might have something to do with it.
We don’t know the details behind the peace (more like a tense truce) that led to the seven part universe, just that they did.
Solomon is supposedly one of the more powerful Demiurges, perhaps the second strongest after Jagganoth. But many of them have decayed a fair amount from their power when they first had their keys; Jadis now basically can’t even move, Mammoth is senile, and Mottom is actually at risk of dying since her fruit is gonna run low now that the tree is gone. Gog, Solomon, Incubus, and Jagganoth don’t appear to have been too harmed by the passage of time, but the fact that almost half the demiurges are weakened means that Jagganoth’s immunity is likely quite dangerous.
Mottom trashing his vault and insulting him seems to have snapped Mammon out of the senility though since the cloudy eyes disappeared when he raged and activated his key. But we don’t know whether it’s just physical or if it did anything for his mental state.
Jadis, well, gonna caveat that we haven’t seen her key in action or what her abilities are, aside from being an oracle.
Though I agree, some of them don’t appear to be at their peak strength and Mottom is at risk of dying of old age until she finds another method or source of immortality. Though she appears to have had the foresight to stock up huge amounts of the fruit.
Fist of the Northstar much?
Anyone else getting a heavy Kill La Kill vibe from the last panel? Probably just the block letters, but…
Now THAT’S a guy I can get behind. Because if I got in front of him, I’d be dead.
Omae wa mo, shindeiru
There’s more blood in this double page spread than the entire series up to this point
I feel like, in the last page, there was one guy that looked as though he was going to stay seated. Hope he’s under that grume somewhere.
I don’t see anybody on the previous page looking like that, though two pages back there is that young swordsman and on the page before that there are a bunch of fighters in close proximity that could have decided to sit or just stand as they are
“Gory, Gory …what a hell of a way to die!
Gory, Gory …what a hell of a way to die!
Gory, Gory …what a hell of a way to die!
His truth goes marching on!”
