BREAKER OF INFINITIES 4-176 to 4-177
Chapter: 4
“The temple of the Eye Revealed, in its vastness, is an extremely dogmatic. Through countless interpretations of the etchings and mutterings of their corpse-goddess, they rule, as they say, from divine decree. I, for one, wouldn’t take my orders from a glorified slate, no matter how holy.”
-Payapop Pritram
I can see how this guy’s the chosen one in most timelines
I wonder how far Zaid would go if he didn’t have two magical swords with him doing most of the work for him. Not far I bet.
Kinda funny to see some complain how Zaid will again be saved by Allisson, well she has stronger power in her and we all knew it so it’s a bit too late in story to bitch about it again.
Plus I bet if she will do it then Zaid will pick her up to help her get out of there too seeing her own injuries are still a thing and she might be beat after using her power too much on these guards to escape alone and on her own. So you will have your scene of a man rescuing a female.
Most of what we’ve seen of new Zaid so far hasn’t been combat, it’s been sneaking and infiltrating.
I don’t get why it’s such a big deal who saves who. Everybody needs a hand once in a while, right? Alison has saved Ziad before, he just helped her get out of the funk Jadis had got her in… what are friends for?
I’m sure Zaid had to train hard to attain the skills he now possesses, but we didn’t see him do it. That makes it look unearned, and makes him less compelling as a character. What indication were we ever given that Zaid had it in him to become – in just a few short years – a super warrior mage?
It was suggested that someone Zaid-like was the chosen one in all of the previous cycles, I think. Alison getting the key instead of him this time is a major upset to the balance.
Is it the act of being chosen that gives the chosen one his power? Or are Neville Longbottoms of the multiverse still Capable of Wonderful Things?
Neville did grow up to be capable of wonderful things, but he did not turn out to be hot. Zaid is smokin!
“nevil did grow up to be capble of wonderful things, but he did not turn out to be hot’
i know many who would have rather disagreed with you on this point-likely with flame and with war, if i know the fandom as well as i think i do.
God damn, this is so coooool
Also, Allison learned the ominous hand technique from Jagganoth (BoI 1-19) XD
ominous hand
“Stop showing off Zaid, we are out”
After all the time of Zaid being a damsel-in-distress (male version, don’t know what that’s called) it’s rather refreshing to see him pull his own weight. Doesn’t diminish Alison in the slightest, after all, a main theme of K6BD has always been that going it alone is not the best way.
Hansel-in-distress?
If you are not careful trauma can make you forget the awesome power within you.
First, seems like Allison is first. So pumped.
Second, and completely/semi-unrelated: song called “Superhero Jagganath” by Diablo Swing Orchestra exists. So there’s that. Excited to see the panel where he and Allison meet next.
You know, now that the narrative dust has setteled, I just want to take a moment, indulge my ego, and laugh at all those simple people who were so absolutely sure that jadis was some evil/lying/ narrow minded manipulator/parasite/ect (despite the evidence to the contrary). And take in the fact that they were all proven utterly wrong. And that my repeatedly stated assessment of her character and (roughly) the narrative, were pretty much spot on.
Now let’s see how Zaid reacts to allison floating, missing her limbs and an eye, and kicking everybody’s ass.
I bet 5 bucks his eyes bug out like a cartoon.
why would you use dear as coin? seems very inconvinent.
I really love how this comic grows and evolves all of its characters. Like, all of them. Loving this new version of Zaid who comes in to do the emotional rescue.
Clearly they caught up to him because he forgot to say “smell you later, losers” before flying sword-skating away like the coolest 90s kid ever
It was wonderful to read your essay. For me, this is an excellent document. I bookmarked this page and will return to read any new entries.
Ah, this is only the beginning.
This is one of the best posts I’ve read on this forum. The information in the article helped me understand more about a new topic that I had never known.
