On reflection gang, I’m not really happy with this one.
I wanted to combine a riddle about death with a boner joke, but the points of reference combined with Solomon’s appearance give it quite a sour taste. Sorry about that.
The expressions on the faces of the Rayubans show they are truly distressed. They love their sovereign, benevolent dictator though he may be. Is this not as good as government gets?
Will he… negotiate? Sacrifice his life and crown for the life of his people?
I know Jaggers has the raw power to just take what he wants, but I can’t help but think that Both Jaggers and Solomon are the kind of honorable monsters who would do that deal. Solomon want to protect, and be remembered well, and Jaggers *wants* people to see and know of the utter defeat of the seven.
I’m kind of hoping.
Also, even while broken, Is Sandstorm Daruda just casually using his key to produce wicked ass lighting effects.
Ok , seriously now . Solomon have that time-stop / superspeed trick. He could move away from Jag attack area at any moment , like some annoying fly. Superfly , in that case. And he didn’t ? As if implications of Solomon having that ability not thoroughly thought through..
I’m sad to say logic of this comix not perfect , but Solomon having super speed and Solomon not getting away from overwhelming attack – these two pieces just dont fit together.
I believe the deal there is that *there is no room to dodge into*. after all, it’s not a time stop, he’s just very, very fast.
Jag is also very, very fast.
that’s the logic as I understand it, anyway.
This, and also since he looks relatively unharmed he probably did at least try to get out of the way but possibly crashed into the ground in the process.
Looks like the cuts spread out over distance. Close to Jagganoth the cuts are within a few feet of each other, and there’s no place to dodge. A mile out, there starts to be space between them.
Solomon’s time stop and superspeed are distinct abilities: he can move extremely fast but doesn’t get any heightened reaction time from it, and he can spend a few moments to use Ki Rata to drag time down to a crawl. With them combined, he’s essentially untouchable. We can see this with how when he dodged Jagg’s very first attack, the destruction it rained down on Rayuba was entirely outside his control.
Consider: He had only a brief moment to react to Jagg’s omnislash, meaning he couldn’t just stop time and leave town, and his superspeed would let him dodge any attack… assuming he could see it coming, and had a place to dodge to. Jagg’s attack was a) fast enough that none of the demiurges or Aspected Chaos could meaningfully react, b) all-encompassing enough that none of them could avoid getting hit multiple times, and c) powerful enough to instantly slay the weakest of them and break through multiple forms of invulnerability (keep in mind that Incubus is a Head of John user, and had his whole face cut off). Basically, if any attack could one-shot Solomon, it’d be this one.
If Solomon sees Maya and is like “Take my key, I can’t protect them anymore.” then we will have some true llama drama going on, but maybe Solomon can approach Royalty just as he dies.
Could Maya be related to Solomon? His original daughters died on Rayuba in the Universal War which I think was supposed to be why he only ever had sons after that… unless??
I certainly am not saying they are related, just that she has wielded a Key before and so Solomon giving her his might make her able to tangle with Jag if he is too busted up.
I love how consistent the power tiers are in this part of the story. Mammon, the weakest, was one-shotted. Mottom, next up the ladder, was severely injured with only one attack left in the tank. Incubus was flayed, but still very much alive. Solomon was beaten and bloodied, but very much alive and probably still able to fight.
Aspected Chaos lost an eye and a limb. That puts the composite bring right between Mammon and Mottom in power. Which means that Allison, Cio, and Chain(?) all have about 1/3 the power of a low tier demiurge. I don’t know how many Goku’s that converts to, but the power tiers are being used well.
man i hope the incubus doesn’t die……or at least does something that makes a lasting impact on the protagonist or wholesome or both like give her his sword as a memento and be a distraction to help them escape or give them time to find whitechain or something :^(
Honestly, I’m still rooting for ol’ Salami Dave here. Time and time again we’ve been told what a totally untouchable badass martial art Ki Rata is, yet so far Jagganoth has shrugged everything off.
And A while back the flavor text told us that people who use that blood magic Incubus is using are the most powerful of immortals but it looks like he’s toast just like the rest of them.
Big Red Guy might be a massive masochist, but the Jaggahog seems to deny that. Still, his utter invincibility is becoming extremely annoying. What’s the point of this battle if Jaggers is just going to kill everybody anyway?
(Maybe Zoss will put in an appearance around now? Or maybe White Chain is trying to get the Angels to help right now? Or maybe Maya will surprise us all by fighting Jaggers instead of Inky-Boy?)
This battle has established that Jaggie is not invincible though. He was pinned by Aspect Chaos’ spear, which seemed like something that hadn’t happened in past cycles.
It seems to me that the point of the fight was maybe that you can’t always make violence right by just applying more, better violence. I mean, the heir is supposed to defeat Jagganoth (if temporarily) and just get reset every cycle anyway, right? Assuming the comic is about this cycle because it’s the one that turns out different, maybe Allison had to lose in combat in order to win by… well, some other way.
this crown has bled the worlds of all the blood afoot combined. fall upon him like a pack of beasts and let scrap of meat be all that remains of ROYALTY. witness the true end of violence in the heat of endings.
Okay what would be really cool is if Solomon finally overcame his pride and shared out his key thing to all of the people around him, giving them a fighting chance..
After seeing the last few pages you do you truly, honestly believe, if had had spread his key around, the people would have a fight chance?
A chance to run for their lives perhaps.
Ah, so this is the moment—the time just before the Passing of the Flame. We think…yes, we believe we shall see the Paternum grant the Angel of Miracles, 82 White Chain Born in Emptiness Returns to Subdue Evil, her Boon, and in so doing burden her, with his Word…! Ah, a White Flame that holds a Diamond! The wonder of its fractal angles alone, it brings joy that dances up and down our body segments.
Though…No. No, we do not think we are wrong. Not this day. No no. We shall see this, mark me.
the end of war, the slave set free
priapic, swinging from the tree
rest assured, it’s just his knee
’tis just a flesh wound !
we have, perhaps, neglected the realities of Dave’s salami
I can’t unsee it now, damn you!

Yea, you kinda went there unintentionally.
IT SPEAKS.
I’ve never heard the wax head break out of poetry before.

Jagganoth doesn’t care who see what. He wants to destroy everything. There’s nothing to negotiate.
A prediction:
“My people, I will die soon. My kingdom is all of yours, now, as was decreed. Carry Rayuba in your hearts.”
Ok , seriously now . Solomon have that time-stop / superspeed trick. He could move away from Jag attack area at any moment , like some annoying fly. Superfly , in that case. And he didn’t ? As if implications of Solomon having that ability not thoroughly thought through..

I think the fact his people appear mostly unharmed might be related to why he didn’t bother to dodge, just saying …
First time he dodged, Jag leveled a neighborhood behind him. It could very well be the case that he viewed that as a mistake not to be made again.
I believe the deal there is that *there is no room to dodge into*. after all, it’s not a time stop, he’s just very, very fast.
Jag is also very, very fast.

This, and also since he looks relatively unharmed he probably did at least try to get out of the way but possibly crashed into the ground in the process.
Consider: Jagganoth attack cuts everywhere at once.
Which obviously is at the very least extremely exagerated, considering all these people are still in on piece.
Looks like the cuts spread out over distance. Close to Jagganoth the cuts are within a few feet of each other, and there’s no place to dodge. A mile out, there starts to be space between them.

Is there some reason we think Maya and Solomon are related? ‘Cause I don’t see any reason to think there’s any kind of connection between those two …
I certainly am not saying they are related, just that she has wielded a Key before and so Solomon giving her his might make her able to tangle with Jag if he is too busted up.

To be fair. Mammon was fairly up front, neck extended over them, next in line was Aspect Chaos, Mottom, Incubus and finally David Solomon.
how *embarrassing* for him. I wonder how he’ll handle this
that is, indeed, more than a drop of blood.
Some people are drama queens. Salami Dave is a frickin’ drama god-emperor.
“Can’t I even rest in peace?”

> Stabs Allison to steal her key
This reminds me of the death of a famous celebrity… what was his name? Cheesy Crust?
You’re thinking of Jeez, only begotten son of Gosh, who died to save us all from going to Heck.
Honestly, I’m still rooting for ol’ Salami Dave here. Time and time again we’ve been told what a totally untouchable badass martial art Ki Rata is, yet so far Jagganoth has shrugged everything off.

When he attacks with the Jaggahog, THEN you will see true destruction!
This battle has established that Jaggie is not invincible though. He was pinned by Aspect Chaos’ spear, which seemed like something that hadn’t happened in past cycles.

Strength beyond strength. Violence is not the answer. Victory may not always be the best way to resolve a conflict.
Oh man, his beard got messed up. It’s definitely not a worst-case scenario yet, but still disheartening.
this crown has bled the worlds of all the blood afoot combined. fall upon him like a pack of beasts and let scrap of meat be all that remains of ROYALTY. witness the true end of violence in the heat of endings.
riot.
Sol seems to be waking up. Perhaps he’s not out of the fight yet.
Hmm… to me, that expression looks like someone trying to move, but finding they have injuries which will make it very difficult.
Not that he won’t try to fight. But that option seems patently futile now.
I hope he’s okay. He seems like the boat likeable of the goons
*most
That’s a big boner
Don’t just kneel there, offer the man first aide.
Come on Dave, get up you silly fuck, get up and kick that elephant helmeted twat’s ass.
For my final trick I will be using not 8, not 9, but 10 fingers for this Ki Rata demonstration.
Solomon (internal monologue): I mean… toes are pretty much fingers right? What happens if I jump straight to 20?
Okay what would be really cool is if Solomon finally overcame his pride and shared out his key thing to all of the people around him, giving them a fighting chance..

All jag managed to do was cut open David´s beard cage.
He did say he was going to unleash all manner of beasts.
His beard jewelry has been gone for a while, I think this happened around when Jag transformed.
He’s not dead yet. He’ll be fine. He’s just pining for the fjords! 😉
Dave, get your people out of there, get to Alison, and flee to a (temporary) safe harbor.
There is need… for a huddle!
