I figured Angels were going to get involved *eventually*, the fights happening at Throne of all places, but I didn’t think Metatron itself was going to get involved until WAY later.

I’ve always seen Yisun as kinda like Brahman or the Deist conception of God. They aren’t really “dead” as we would understand it, the whole universe is just parts of Them which are seperated from each other. In Evangelion terms the “suicide” was like putting up AT fields within Yisun to section parts of it off from each other, because the resulting imperfection was interesting. Even works with the Demiurges representing words from the name of God, basically embodying aspects of it as the Hindu gods represent aspects of Brahman. By giving the name of Yisun, which encapsulates Their true nature, to Zoss, Metatron is literally the scribe of God, making tangible all that They are, were, and will be. In that sense understanding the nature of God is basically synonymous with understanding the universe, but I think also understanding it in a more deep and spiritual way in contrast to Jadis having a perfect mechanistic understanding of the universe but lacking enlightenment/Royalty. Of course, Metatron is still quite passive and indirect, a planner more than doer, so I don’t think they are Royalty either. Maybe they are the Master of Ethics to Jadis’ Master of Space-Time? As the scribe of God I think Metatron understands the nature of God but doesn’t share in it. Allison doesn’t understand it but does share some of it, which I think is more important.

Well Jag did want to fight Metatron….
to fly in the awkward splayed out pose Zoss left him in while at the same time his wings are so worldbreakingly powerful they can burn away a Gog-infection the second he arrives to the battlefield.
It’s such a great example of the “all powerful but pathetic” theme all of the antagonists embody to some extent.
He appeared, not fly in. The position is the Inverse Crucifixion. It’s what you use to differentiate yourself from God on the Crucifix. Several Apostles died this way. And he appears on Easter.
